"The Black Hole" is one of the very few good things in Pakistan. Thanks a million Dr. Pervez. You're a gem.
Thanks you Dr. Hoodbhoy for doing what you do to spread knowledge in the middle of this circus called Pakistan.
Such a treat! Grateful, sir 😊
Hoodbhoy sir, what a great initiative of making Russel easy yet interesting for the masses. Its a request that we should expand this series to also cover philosophers of own land of the subcontinent. Like MN Roy, Jiddhu Krishnamurti, Chanakya, Ali Abbas Jalalpuri, Mubarak Ali, Bacha Khan, Malik Meraj Khalid, CA Qadir and many more.

I forgot Sartre .He was great. Also Freud (again I am misspelling I think like John Locke)
A befitting homage to a really great philosopher. Excellent session; enriching lecture interspersed with snippets of wisdom from the great humanitarian prodigy. However, the session elicited a spate of name droppings in the comments section, which did include names of genuine thinkers, but at least one name also came up which is just not in the bracket.
As always, many thanks Dr Hoodbhoy. I read ‘ A freeman’s worship’ at the age of 18 and then there was no looking back. Russell touched many lives. A keen watcher from India.
Interesting session. Thank you!
Very informative content ❤

It was an anti war movie, and the short cameo appearance by Russell did add to its credits.
Do on Socrates. We need his teachings so much at this point of time in Pakistan.
The are few Professors of English literature in Pakistan and of those a PhD from Oxford in English Language & literature has been my mentor, he considers Bertrand Russell as best writer of English Language. Although Russell was mathematician by profession and one of most influential of his era however he won a nobel in English Literaure in 1901.

Great efforts spread humanity in pakistan

"Most of the greatest evils that man has inflicted upon man have come through people feeling quite certain about something which, in fact, was false." ~ Bertrand Russell
"If we don't believe in free expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all." ~ Noam Chomsky
And the student of Wittgenstein, Kripke is known for delving into Natural Theology, shattering the implausible positions held by Russell on the philosophy of religion....
"Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric." Bertrand Russell
Russell was inspired by Buddhism philosophy.
Good choice Sir ❤

Sir I want to attend this, could u plz provide detail plz..
Excellent question from the lady re Bertrand’s opinion about wars. The good Dr couldn’t respond properly. No need to support a philosopher blindly. It’s ok that some of his predictions were inaccurate.
Russel - my love of life
The person who said he wants to ramble for 5 minutes. I really appreciate your insights and would love to get to know you and learn from you. Can you share your contact?

There is an AI, can't remember its name at the moment, it created a human face that doesn't exist, nor does it match with any feature of people that ever exists So it's not all about mixing editing or copying

His wife didn't get the ideology of dialectical materialism. She should read it.
English pls Sir.
It seems you are getting more popular with Indians than with Pakistanis. I am sending you Id Mubarak in advance, sir.
Only the kids asked good questions. The remaining burgers were asking questions which were out of context.
Pakistani's seem to be appreciating pacifism because of the name of Bertrand Russell. We ( Indians) and Pakistani's have produced another philosopher who has guided the field in last 100 years. Mathematics has its origin in India ( including Pakistan) but Pakistanis seem to be refusing to acknowledge their ancestors. I have huge regards for Parvez Hoodbhoy. But Pakistanis refusal to acknowledge the knowledge that our ancestors created in this land.

Sure there were great philosophers in India too but this entire revivalist mindset that we only need to look inward to find our ideals represent a very conservative and restrained way of approaching things, you and many more like you need to recognise the fact that this nationalistic approach to pursuing knowledge is very detrimental to critical thinking because this urge to tie everything in this world to India and say that everything good originated here serves no one well in the long run.
All this is educative to know about these western thinkers, but you conveniently forget about a GREAT Muslim thinker of the time from the sub continent.. MULANA MASHRIQI! I think vast majority of Pakistanis have no idea who this guy was , at par with Einstein and Russel ,if not better in certain ways.
