Many have been shot and killed up to 1.5 km from the from the fence. Israel controls who can leave and enter and permissions are arbitrarily approved or denied with no explanations given or process to appeal. And Israeli fighter jets regularly "buzz" the strip, i.e. fly at supersonic speed low over the buildings in the middle of the night. Gaza is not just an open-air prison, it's an open-air torture chamber. And this has been the case not since 7 October, but since 2006.

I hope that there are some Jewish people who don’t support the violence Israel is doing in their name who challenge the BDS laws on first amendment grounds. It truly baffles me that the government dictating restrictions on nonviolent means of protest on behalf of a foreign country has been allowed to stand. I believe it relates to where Israel is situated and its importance to maintaining a democratic presence in the Middle East which allows the US to keep a strategic position and the ability to control whatever events that shape up as in opposition to US policies in an Arabic atmosphere. Many changes began with Saudi Arabia, its oil production and the world price of oil which affects so many economies. Prices rise, US wants them to open the taps, they closed them and no longer entertain what the US wants or wants them to do.

Locks up all his political opponents in the Ritz and tortures them; nothing. kills ONE journalist and suddenly everyone cares. I'm not saying that his death wasn't tragic, but it pales in comparison to everything else. Part of me thinks this might fall under the "have your villain kick a puppy" logic. that deaths and suffering on that scale are unimaginable, so people just tune it out, but something small, personal and relatable gets a bigger reaction because it's capable of being processed. so (weirdly) maybe seeing Nut-yahoo push over some old lady might do more to get people to care than everything else he's done so far.
