Berlin is perhaps one of thee most underrated bands of the modern music era. I am so thankful that show reunited them back in 2003. They've been doing amazing work ever since.

322.000 views, come on. Why people know only "Take my breath away"? Berlin is essence of the 80's, Terri is amazing, so underestimated.

Terri is an iconic goddess, and Berlin straddled the fine line of having both commercial success and underground cred.

I had three albums, Pleasure Victim, Love Life, and Count Three & Pray. All fantastic albums

One of the hardest working, most gorgeous, kindest and talented women in Rock. Fucking period.

Terri gives 200% in every song, what a huge difference this makes. And none of that auto tune crapola to be found anywhere!

Great song, almost a hymn. Needless to say, the 80's were THE decade. No place for discussion.

Terri's voice is hynoptic!

I discovered this song this year - 2021 - only about 35 years late. Love this song, it's got that strange yearning in the chorus. I feel the emotion. I'm 38 BTW.

John Crawford wrote this song. The words invoke specific images special and personal only known to the listener.Terri Nunn takes those words and expand them into a flood of almost metaphysical spiritual feeling.Her beauty and movements are all part of the experience. The musical production takes it even further with the arrangement .The simple but dynamic bass line sets the timing & pulse of the poetry and supports Terri Nunns outstanding vocal message. Nunns voice and the bass line establish the message.The video invokes a mysterious background, left open to the imagination of anyone who gets caught in the spell of this song.This is a relatively unknown artistic masterpiece.

God, I thought I was long winded. I thought I was reading a thesis on the group for a term paper or some shit. That was the most detailed description of that song I have ever read, and I'm inclined to agree with you, just never gave it that much thought. I thought it was about an insecure lover that doesn't know his capabilities. Yours is better.

This is one of, if not the most intelligent comments I've seen on KZread. Bravo. Crawford was and is a gifted writer, and the band put their all into this and the other tracks on this fantastic, mostly overlooked, and definitely underrated record. Nunn's had a way of leaving her emotions on a track the same way that Steve Perry did. It's a shame that more people didn't get to hear this at the time it was released. Berlin toured on this record, and even though Terri and John weren't getting along, the shows were energetic and powerful.

This song is so underrated... Its one of best Pop songs ever made though.

I was a total metal head back then but I absolutely loved this girl. Just loved her.

The varied instruments in this song is sick.

Of all the great popular female voices in my lifetime (Karen Carpenter, Pat Benatar, Ann Wilson, Linda Ronstadt, to name a few), Terri Nunn is right up there with the very best.

I liked Berlin because they had the courage to look beyond the wasteland of American pop and created a universal sound that resonated across the world. I beleive it is called creativity!

Something about this song just moves me. whether its Terri Nunn's powerful vocal or the song itself. It will always be one of my favorites!

"No More Words' did very well. The video certainly helped radio airplay. Nunn has a great voice, for sure.

The more sound go advance, worse music gets. Rip 80s, golden era.

Berlin is so much more than Take My Breath Away. Terri is such a, relativly, unknown powerhouse vocalist

40 years later....i'm still hooked on Terri and Berlin. Some of the 80s stuff sucked even then. gods the 80s pop was hideous. Berlin was part of it what was amazing. So many memories to Berlin music. Just cruising around in my '65 mustang....remembering that one girl that I let get away.

I don't know if people realize what a great talent Teri is, truly underrated. The band is terrific, too.

Damn this song is powerful. Not the hit like some of their others but probably my favorite. What a vocalist she is.

I still have the album "count three and pray", a great album and this song probably the best song from it. I love this song.

Longtime fan of Berlin since my teenage days in the 1980s.terri nunn has a voice like honey & 💎!

This song and this voice is just HAUNTING! The other song fitting into that category would be "Heartstrings".

Released as a single in the US and the UK in December 1986.

This is my favorite Berlin song period. I remember the first time I heard it and I fell in love with it from that point. Terri has a voice second to none and is a true talent to say the least.

I always liked this one. It got into the UK Top 40 at the end of January and early part of February 1987 as the single they had out after being Number 1 in late 1986 with Take My Breath Away.

always loved this. says something about a song when you search for it 30 years later.

Terri Nunn's voice is absolutely awesome! If you listen to each song, her voice, while still the same is different for each song. This lady puts her entire being into all she sings. Would be very awesome to see her make a comeback and start making albums again.

Junefest 2018 will be a Flashback to 1980s with Berlin, Jefferson Starship, and Rick Springfield Two more days. Cant Wait!

Totally agree that Berlin was mostly recognized for "Take My Breath Away" and this song was so much better and more heartfelt. Teri Nunn is one of the most talented female singers out there. I have 3 Berlin cassette's (and now the cd's) as they were one of my favorite bands and still are. Much better than the pop crap they have on the radio today. I don't even listen to mainstream music anymore. They need to bring back real talent, not auto tuned crap.

Emotion, ridiculous percussion, vocal expertise. Perfection.

They really crafted this song. It seems they worked hard to get it really good. They put in all these instruments here and there, set a mood, made you care. It’s a cool video and everything.

Favorite Berlin song

Already made 1 comment, but what the hell. This and Lost in the crowd are 2 stellar ones that didn't get the attention that was deserved. There is so much great music to be heard again it's a shame I can't remember all the stuff I've listened to in the past decades. First it was 8 tracks, then cassettes in the car, always had vinyl but lost about 300 album's to moving and 3 wives, go figure. Now it's all CDs and now there on the way out. Anyway, have 4 Berlin CDs so it's all good.

I remember jamming to this in the 80's. She has such a beautiful voice. This song just touches my heart.

Phenomenal !Talk about beauty and simplicity of a song, a voice and visual performance that drives home the musical message...This is it..and this rivals any of the mediocre music and dead spirited performance that is portrayed as "star quality" nowadays.

It doesn't matter which song that I've heard from Berlin, as much as I can't make a specific favorite song. I LOVE ALL Berlin songs! Terri's one of the Greatest New Wave Alternative singers in my opinion that I've gone to 4 concerts, met her, have a signed cd and dvd, and taken pictures together. I Love her singing talent as well All members of this band both currrent and past. This is One of my Favorite Bands in the world. I also tend to think that she's one of the most Beautiful Singers in the world. Thank you for coming to Modesto, CA 5 times and hope that you'll return sometime in the future? TN's voice gives me chills all over my body. Truth.

Such a powerful voice from a little slip of a thing. I have always loved her raspy, emotionally powerful phrasing. She really delivers in song after song. What a great vocalist! One of the best to blossom in the 80s. And she still sounds this fantastic now, believe it or not. She and Ann Wilson have proven that one can keep their voice in stellar shape for 40+ years.

Everytime I hear this song I think of a mother taking her child to his new family and having to walk away and thinking to herself You dont know why.......But you will know why, oneday!

This song hooked me to search other songs and listen to their song everyday, They are so good.

That song is pure delight...and so is the video!

My absolute fav Berlin song. I'm just disappointed they had to cut so much of it for the video timing

I'm a dedicated Berlin fan. Have listened to and absorbed the EP and the 2 albums in depth. I think they are one of the most prolific bands of the 80s. My favorite song is " will I ever understand you" but there are many more that I still listen to regularly. Berlin was much more than " take my breath away". Why people don't explore the genius of the music and John Crawford's lyrics, and Terri Nunn's impeccable voice giving life to those lyrics is totally beyond me.

I discovered this song on an album of various artists called "Go for Geffen Gold". I actually found it in a dumpster, along with a lot of other vinyl. A radio station here in KC went off the air, and me and the Houseman at a hotel I worked at dug around in there, finding gems. Ah, the 90's...

Tremendous, Epic. this video and song transcends the 80s. It is a timeless work of art like Monet or Van Gogh.

You Dont Know from my favorite Berlin album, Count 3 and Pray. She found her voice and wow, what a voice. Heartstrings is my fave then You Dont Know. All of it, but Take my Breath Away didnt fit album. It is incredible song but should be a single and Top Gun sndtrk only. Love u Terry!!

cam Odie You misunderstood, John and Terri have both said in interviews, the song did not belong on The Count Three and Pray album. They were forced by record company to include it cause it was #1 smash hit. Many artists have vision and concept when they create albums, not just a bunch of songs. Thats what they meant and i agree. The song itself is amazing and Terri delivers vocal perfection.

I know because it wasn’t written or played by the group. Pretty much just Terri singing over a Giorgio Moroder production. But I have that album on vinyl and am glad that it’s on there. It’s still a strong song and doesn’t negate the rest of their output IMO. Plus, it’s not totally weird as they had collaborated with GM before for No More Words. I enjoy it all :)

This song caught my fascination when I was in high school in the late 90's. I grew up with bands like Berlin and Depeche Mode (both of my parents were very New Wave) but somehow this song slipped under the radar. When I heard it again in high school it just seemed like the lyrics called out to me. Teenage angst, I know, but I find it just as enjoyable now 10 years later as I did then.

Love Life is a great album all the way through.
