Berlanga TKOs McCrory | Benavidez vs Gvozdyk | UFC Ortega submits Rodriguez | Royval over Moreno

Спорт

Teddy Atlas and co-host Ken Rideout discuss all the fights from boxing and UFC this past weekend including Edgar Berlanga’s TKO of Padraig McCrory. The guys discuss whether this victory warrants Berlanga becoming Canelo’s next opponent. They also cover Giyasov vs Cano, Cruz vs Zamarripa, UFC Mexico, Rodriguez vs Ortega 2, and Moreno vs Royval 2. They finish by discussing the potential announcement of Benavidez vs Gvozdyk in June and they give their take on what to expect.

Respect to Gvozdyk and Benavidez, Gvozdyk for jumping straight back in the deep end, Benavidez for stepping up and facing a truly dangerous opponent (for the 1st time).

I didn't see or hear what Rodriguez said about the fight but I'm thinking he gassed out trying to stop Ortega… Put all his energy into it when it looked like it was going to be a win....Plus it's 7000 feet elevation in Mexico City and he was probably so tired that's why it was so easy for Ortega to take him down and to get that choke.... an incredible job by Ortega who was completely compromised with the foot and then was pieced up in the first round and then came back

Main questions about Gvozdyk are two: 1- Is he the same fighter as before, before the retirement? Or even 95% the same, if so he can beat Benavidez. 2- Can he show the same fearlessness as in the Adonis fight. In the Beterbiev fight, his body language was awful. He clearly exhibited signs that the Beterbiev body shots were killing him, ie painful. Gvozdyk can beat Beterbiev, but he needs a sports psychologist to help. Gvozdyk got his jaw broken by Beterbiev in their amateur bout. The two bouts have got to have left a lasting impression/blot.

I disagree with Teddy saying Tyson did the same thing as Berlanga. Tyson bashed thru low level guys for 2 or 2 and half years. But he was fighting top guys after that. Berlanga didn’t even fight a Stevie Rolls type of guy until like year 5 or 6

I don’t think Berlanga is even a top 10 fighter yet but you knew he was going to have an easy fight against an undefeated European fighter. No offense to European fighters but they just don’t have the competition that North American fighters do plus NA has a lot more fighters so easy for some of their fighters to build up a good record and as usual get exposed when face a decent North American fighter

ken the choke ortega used is one of those that look not too bad but in it is very tight and hard to escape based on where ortegas legs and hips are. yair doesnt reall have leverage to move hips and escape oddly.. its a newer variation of an older choke. i think they need to run it back tho was a good fight.

Hey guys, love the podcast. I have a pet peeve. Teddy regularly mentions "haters" - he did it again in this podcast. He claims he doesn't care what they think, and that he doesn't listen to them, but he regularly talks about them. Reminds me of the line "The lady doth protest too much". If you don't care about haters and you don't even hear what they say, why do you talk about them so often? Stop it. Stop talking about them. Your real fans like me don't care about them and we don't want to hear you going on about them. Share your opinion, don't care what anyone thinks, and stop talking about people who disagree with you. Thanks!
