UFC 150: Henderson vs. Edgar II was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on August 11, 2012, at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
Henderson defeated Edgar in the main event of UFC 144 on Feb. 26, 2012, winning the UFC lightweight title via unanimous decision.
The 155-pound elites put on a five-round affair that showed technical prowess and tremendous resolve.
It was a great fight. It wasn't an all-time great, but it was definitely worth the build-up and the money. Edgar and Henderson, as well as the rest of the performers, put on a more-than-modest show.
Henderson clearly won round one, peppering Edgar with solid leg kicks and getting the former champion into a tight guillotine over the final 20 seconds of the round. Edgar just as clearly won round two, dropping Henderson with a big right hand and then controlling him on the ground for much of the stanza.
Then things got a little tighter.
Round three was one of the closest rounds seen in a UFC championship in quite some time, with both men active but neither doing major damage. In rounds four and five, both fighters scored, with Edgar scoring with strikes off the breaks and also ducking many of Henderson's strikes and answering with counters. But Henderson's strikes landed more heavily.
In a bout that was very tightly contested, Henderson defeated Edgar again, this time via split decision.
Tony Weeks scored the bout 49-46 for Edgar, giving him the final four rounds. Mark Van Tine and Dave Hagen had it at 48-47 for Henderson, as both gave him rounds 1, 3, and 4.
Henderson (17-2), who had then won 14 of his past 15 fights, felt he earned the decision.
"You always have a concern whenever it goes to a decision," Henderson said. "Frankie's tough. We all know how tough Frankie is. ... They always bring it in rematches."
Though some also felt Edgar (14-3-1) earned the decision, he was faced with the reality that he's dropped back-to-back fights to the champion.
"It don't matter," Edgar said. "I thought I brought it to him. I don't know if I can watch that fight. It don't matter. I'm upset, man. What are you gonna do?"

The wars against Maynard along with his fights against Max and Aldo really shortened his prime. He’s the most underrated fighter of all time.
This was the fight that pretty much popularized the calf kick.
For me, In this fight frankie edgar's win

Frankie won he got a knockdown and two takedown. He was aggressive through out the fight. He won according to today's standard.

Nah, I didn’t see a finish. Takedowns barely even count if you don’t use it. He never used it, not even for a few seconds of control. If it goes to the judges you can’t claim anyone won the fight, that’s just how it is. It could be damn near all one sided and obvious but if you don’t get the finish the judges may just hand you a loss. Especially by todays standards. Lol

I watched this fight live, frankie out landed Hendo by 2 strikes only . He clearly won 2 rds , 1rd could go either way. But as we all knw a debatable rd always goes to the champ. Hence, Hendo was handed the win. Only an Edgar fan would bitch about this decision.

To me, there's a big difference between knocking someone down hurt, or unhurt. If you look at Benson during his knockdown, he wasn't hurt.

It could’ve gone either way and benson hurt frankie in the 5th when Frankie mouthpiece came out so he may have stole that round. This fight was similar to Henry vs Dj 2. Both made amazing adjustments and put on a good dight
some naive people dont believe the ufc fixes fights but wanderlie silva got it all on recording

Hendo was a banger!! This is the third fight of his I’ve watched and they have all been exciting!! He was definitely not afraid to exchange!!
Benson is a beast for sure. I think that his multiple split decision wins have shaped impressions
Frankie definitely won in my eyes
This was peak Frankie right here, this version of him vs the current top 5 Lightweights he would lose to everyone in the top 5.

Edgar threw the hat like he got stolen his win but to get the champion belt as a challengers, you have to dominate the round to get 1 more point. This was pretty much even fight

obviously he did, frankie is he best.
Edgar won it with the takedowns and the counter striking he slipped alot of strikes while delivering two of his own... damn his footwork was amazing.. really the main thing that gives a smaller fighter a good chance when striking... It was a closer fight than most but this is an example of why Judges should be more closely scrutinized and somehow more transparent with their scoring,...so a robbery like this doesn't happen. I like both fighters but I feel like sometimes Judges feel like a close title fight is a day off..just give it back to the champ..but that wasn't, imo, as close as most might think.
Even the camera guy thought Frankie won

I think the fight was pretty even and Frankie has no quit in him. His pace is always consistent in every fight. Henderson is pretty similar with his pace and never shows fatigue. I’m a Frankie Edgar fan from back in the BJ Penn days so I always root for Frankie.

A very good fight. Henderson was the aggressor for most of the fight. He deserved the win. Great job of officiating this fight.

Much as I like Benson - I though Frankie was unlucky to lose. It was very close but I thought Frankie won the takedowns - while the striking was even.

My opinio, henderson is huge for this weight class, franky look small but held his own and did his job. Unfoetunately left it up to the judges

I think he had huge power in his kicks. He was just unfortunate to not get many KOs or TKOs. It wasn't for lack of trying I'm sure.
Easily this should be in the hall of fame for being one of the biggest rip-offs of all time!

No dude, benson was hitting Frankie quite a bit harder than Frankie was hitting him, it was a reasonable decision, the first fight was more clearly Benson's admittedly.

I guess you don't know what "rip-off" means? Edgar fought the defending champ. Edgar should have put all on line to put out Benson. Look at the champ's face after the fight...he looks like he just came off the treadmill lol

That comment said Edgar had been ripped off from getting the belt. Are you suggesting that the judges knew nothing about mixed martial arts that was why they sided with Benson? Just because you actually got in the ring does not give you the authority to "fairly" judge any UFC fight.

Every single time he kicks Frankie’s leg, he falls down. He has no technique of avoidance. Keep in mind this is early days of MMA. This mattered a lot.

Listen when you're the champ you get benefits. One of them being you have to beat him, to take his belt. I love frankie....one of the biggest hearts and toughest chins in the game. But he just fought a good fight with the champ. He didn't do enough to warrant the belt to be switched, simple. Same fight, frank the champ...benny goes home loosing.
