    I had this steam cleaner but with iron and guys believe me it was working amazing! And how much time I saved! and all without chemicals. My favourite part was that little round brush and few micro fibre cloths. Windows, frames, tiles, everything literally. I was really pleased with my Karcher. Unfortunately, after 13 months of using it stopped working and that I must say was very upsetting gently speaking. But the results were really good.

    @@eSpares I did, but warranty ran out after 12 months and Karcher services, just to check what's happend, cost as much as Karcher plus repair and guy at services was not really nice so we didn't bother eventually because we didn't know for how long it's going to work afterwards. I really want to have one again just afraid that it will be the same scenario.

    Hi, For all those asking about carpet cleaning with a steam cleaner, it is possible to clean areas of carpet with a steam cleaner but they are not designed to do large areas, merely detailed stain removal really. On the eSpares website part number ES537817 is a detail nozzle which is great for stains and marks on the carpet but not a whole carpet itself as it would take forever! Karcher has specific carpet cleaners such as the Puzzi 100 for whole carpets. Hope that helps.

    Hello eSpares, I have tested only half of the item so far. I've mainly used the window cleaner and scrubbing brush. compared to the cheap models i've purchased in the past, the karcher 1020 by far is a great purchase in cleaning my bathroom and home. there is enough steam to last for a long time, and boiling time is not very long (5-8mins). the flexible hose is very generous in length easy to bend and flex in awkward positions. i will most definitely need to purchase extra cleaning attachments like a few more scrub brushes and some more terry cloth. the trigger is light weight and is child friendly with the childlock switch. the karcher sc1020 is very compact in size, and possible weighs about 2kg dry weight. overall result, i am extremely pleased. i don't have the top end range of steam cleaners, but for general purpose home use, this is great! it was very hard to find what attachments came with the karcher sc1020 until i opened it up and found out what it comes with. i highly recommend this product over other brands that i can see online for sale. karcher is reliable and has 2 years warranty, can't go wrong with that!

    You should be OK to use the steam cleaner on brick, but if you're worried about drainage then it's a good idea to carry an old towel or cloth with you to mop up the excess water as you go. Thanks!

    Most surfaces can be cleaned with a steam cleaner. Start with a very low setting and a bit of distance between the nozzle and the surface and take it from there. The plastic coating is deigned to resist heat and liquids which is exactly what the Steam cleaner emits. Obviously if there are any cracks or damage to the surface the steam cleaner could do it no good however. Thanks.

  • @eSpares

    lilly2779 Although momentarily the steam will heat the surface killing bacteria the heat is quickly dispersed and leaves little moisture behind. For this reason it is not likely to damage wood or tiles unless concentrated on a single spot for several minutes.

    grout cleaning between tiles wasn't as effective for my bathroom but it works really well on my laminated flooring when done carefully. "Thick" Oil stains removal from cooking hob was effortless. The steam helps to soften and pull out the oil stain and all you need is a simple wipe down of the the hob with a piece of cloth. Yet to try it on my aircon blower for chemical-free sanitisation purposes though.

    Hi Josh,a month back we had our room sprayed with some pesticides, especially for bed bugs, called propoxur. Though it was supposed to be harmless, to humans, but the powder didnt dilute well, and hence resulted in shiny silvery propoxur residue granules which are stuck on the floor, and furniture, can you suggest if steam cleaning will help the propoxur resdue come off. I am suffering from allergy because of it, and looking at hell and high water to get it solved. Really life feels stuck up, as i am coughing a lot. Though we have cleaned most of the rooms, the silver residue is seen on the walls, furniture, and floor, and seems rigid. Please help me.

    +Abhik Shome Although we do not have any information on this we would think steam cleaning may be a good way to remove the residue as being 'damp' the residue is less likely to become 'airborne' and therefore spread less. It would certainly be worth talking to the pest company to check their advice before starting as they may have had to do this for other customers.

    Hi Bushra, the instruction book from this model indicates this It is recommended to sweep or vacuum the floor prior to using the steam cleaner. This way, the floor is already cleared of dirt/loose particles prior to the wet cleaning.Prior to treatment with the steam cleaner, always check the reaction of the textiles in an inconspicuous location: Steam at first, then let dry and then check for colour or shape changes.

  • @eSpares

    Grout is one of the more difficult areas to tackle and a bit of 'elbow grease' is going to make a difference. However many grouts have a semi porous surface that is effectively full of microscopic holes. These can be left with mould spores even after scrubbing, so the heat from a good steam cleaner may help the mould returning as quick.

    I thought we had seen almost every question on You Tube but this is a first. I suppose the steam is likely to kill or damage the weeds leaves but we are not sure if this would then kill the root or just temporarily postpone growth and allow it to return with a healthier root. If you do try it please come back with the results as others may consider it in the future. :-)

    Thanks for the comments. Steam cleaners are not the best to clean a dirty carpet as you need to wash the dirt out and remove the water and dirt. This is best done with a dedicated carpet cleaner. These can be hired from Tool hire stores or even sometimes large supermarkets. If you need the cleaning fluids we can supply them here: www.espares.co.uk/search/gc1441/cleaning-products/floorcare-cleaning/carpet-cleaner-solutions

    If you are in the UK although it's not the lightest it's by far the best carpet shampooer/ordinary vacuum cleaner..it's the old fashioned bright orange VAX.,that vacuum with the smiley face called 'Henry Hoover' based their design for sure back in the 80's on that early Vax's iconic design. I had one through the mid 80's to late 90's (same one) and it got used lots with having elderly cats and I've just bought another after having one of the upright Vax washers.If you use it as a vacuum as well you just have to make sure the internal tank is bone dry before converting to a shampooer and it can be used with or without a bag.The water tank is absolutely huge and runs non stop for up to 50mins and got a really old 15yrs+ carpet in a rental flat that had a 38 ft long living room and I was too poor at the time to replace it ,anyway going over just once with the Vax shampoo and I added a few tbsp of Zoflora disinfectant into it and the carpet looked like brand new.The beauty of that model is the filthy water literally the tank separates like a big bucket and I used hot tap water in it for speed ,but heats up fast too, The other cleaner is the Bissell upright carpet steamer ,it has a green body casing and again it rivels those industrial models without being too heavy,the VAX Spring can often be purchased cheaply on Groupon and is very lightweight and all models have a special attachment for shampooing furniture and that old fashioned orange Vax made my corduroy couch look brand new and it's been used daily for 7yrs! I am in areally bad way healthwise with severe MS and rheumatoid and sadly my home looks unkempt:( and the tories have destroyed services in my area ,I am recommending these models toyou from when my health was better and I even used my orange Vax to steam off some foul woodchip paper off the walls ,worked a treat :) I once even managed to soften vile Artex with one and it just crumbled off the ceiling like icing.Sorry this is long,once did a degree in engineering LOL and like machines!hehe .peace for 2017 Sophia xx

  • @eSpares

    @eSpares

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Cosmo John When cleaning a mop rag you really need to rinse out the dirt with a good amount of water. As you say the steam is good for sterilizing, breaking up dirt and hard surfaces but on soft surfaces like carpet it will only sanitize and help lift dirt if 'blotted' so is not the best device for those surfaces.

  • @arrowstheorem1881

    eSpares Thanks for the prompt response! So, the steam cleaner is suitable for certain situations and not all cleaning needs. Will it clean faster or more effectively if we add some cleaning agent into the water in the steam cleaner reservoir? Surely this combo will degrease even faster ?

  • @eSpares

    @eSpares

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Cosmo John Be careful you only use the correct cleaning fluids with steam cleaners. The way most detergents work is they lift and suspend dirt and grease in the water then you remove the water with the dirt. As you do not remove any fluid any residue can become sticky and attract dirt quicker unless removed. On hard surfaces the fluid will give a pleasant smell and may help clean dirt and grease onto the mop head.

  • @katephilbin9682

    I have had exactly the same problem. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the head of the floor attachment but it continually falls off, resulting in sore hands if you try to get it on again. My karcher has thus been confined to the cupboard. I am so disappointed with this, especially since the machine cost £90 and I thought I was paying extra for quality. I contacted Karcher but they wouldn't do anything about it as I was about 2 weeks out of the warranty (my fault really, it had always done this sporadically and I should have sent it back straight away). They did, however, say they could service it ....for £90. I feel as if I have thrown money down the drain, and don't want to start buying expensive parts as it will just be throwing good money after bad. I wouldn't recommend this machine to anyone on this basis.

    Wouldn't be too much to make a new video and show the results as well I assume. Showing the results would make more sense. How to apply things and how to use or how to assemble comes already with the manual.

    Hi Carina, thanks for your comments. When shooting this video we filmed in one of our staff's homes on their appliances so were limited as to 'how dirty' the appliances were. W always try and show as much relevant detail as possible, we do not have any plans to remake this video in the future.

  • @eSpares

    @eSpares

    7 жыл бұрын

    This machine is not designed to be a carpet cleaner as it has now way of washing out dirt or contamination from the carpet pile. It can be used to 'refresh' carpets as with a light steaming it may help kit dust mites, 'Silver fish' and bacteria and help remove musty or stale smells. We suggest you clean the carpet first with a dedicated carpet cleaner before using this product.

    As we have replied before this machine is not the best for carpets as it does not remove the dirt from the carpet. If the carpet is vacuum'd first it can be used to kill bacteria or mites and flee's and 'sterilise' the carpet.

    If you buy a steam cleaner thinking it will revolutionize the way you clean, you will probably be sadly disappointed. In general, they are probably no more effective that a bowl of warm soapy water. They will not remove lime scale, or clean a car engine or remove "burnt on" stains from an oven. These house hold versions produce very little pressure and most of the cleaning action relies on the bush attachment . They will not have the power to blast away stains - instead, the steam condenses to give a pool of warm water that then dissolved the stain. In effect, you will be paying quite a bit of money to replace a bucket of warm water and a sponge with something you can plug in.

    +Paul McCarron While not as powerful as a professional machine the type of cleaner shown can still be quite effective on cleaning many things. I have used a similar machine to clean oil of car engines and gearboxes of an old sports car that I pamper. Although the steam is limited it is off course at 100 c plus as it leaves the wand and the combined heat and flow help soften and disturb dirt. However I would agree that they are no magical cleaner and sometimes a pressure washer or the right cleaning fluid may work better.
