OMG you have to dismantle all this to get to the back sensor and that's only because the manufacturer didn't make a mounting back?? I immediately shoot off 4 stars for Hoower. Obviously, it is more important that it has a display that no one needs. Except the repairman.

I don't know how these manufacturers get away with such a ridiculous design, my 75 year old mother struggled and gave up. Getting the bottom ones out was fine but the ones at side and a little thin flat on at the top of each side is ridiculous.

Managed to fix and put back my damaged cable in less than 30 minutes. This video helps a lot. The REAL trick is to remember how the cable needs to go via the tension relief lug, this is not done/shown in the video!! I managed to thread my cable incorrectly but even with this mistake and putting the switch back-to-front. It still took less that 30 minutes to complete the refit. So now my 10 year old flymo lawnmower is fully functional and ready for a few more years of service! Saved a few quid too as I was able to repurpose my old cable. You do need a Torx screwdriver but they are pretty common and easy to source. Cheers for the tip and good luck with yours!

What wasn’t mentioned by Amy but should be noted when cleaning a petrol motor mower is that when it’s tipped onto its side petrol can leak out. This will kill the grass if the operation is undertaken on one’s lawn
