Probably because they want to reduce time with all the extras. Shooting days are long. You want to limit time with extras to some few days. Always more logistic. They need to eat, visit the toilet etc. And the extras in these movies are children to large extent, so they cannot have too long days either.

There's one really noticeable part in Goblet of Fire where Gambon (Dumbledore) gets all angry and runs at Harry grabbing him by the scruff of the neck after his name comes out as a champion. It just felt totally out of character. Dumbledore is the kind of guy who is mysteriously calm even in the most dire situations, because he knows how powerful he is. For instance when Umbridge tries to have him sent to Azkaban.

Truly my favorite movie in all series, it's not just about time travelling but the cinematic pov is ridiculously insane, the long shots, the geography of hogwarts, a darker theme than the first two films which suits the grim-awful-rainy-day feeling it reflects the narrative which has many more dark moments, it deals with dark creatures that represent depression and other scary creatures, talk of murder and it dives into darker, and deeper places for the characters, and where Harry's hair looked the way its supposed to, accurately, jk. Well, the downfall of this was they didn't give much the marauder's a back story though but overall, a very well made series, it makes the movie a stand on its own from all other series, and a cinematic masterpiece by Alfonso

A film is not only for fans of the books. The director is portraying that Harry is no longer a child and that he's growing into his power. I agree that he left some things unexplained that must have been confusion for first time viewers, but he has to telegraph a whole lot of book in a short time. I think he did a fantastic job and made Hogwarts feel like a real high school
This was my favorite book and movie from the whole series, thank you for putting this whole thing together!
It’s so sad the movies endes 10 years ago😢

The Prisoner of Azkaban is one of my favorite ones! Absolutely brilliant film.
The way the actors and alfonso cuaron interact with each other is so nice and they seem to get on and understand each other really well, I wish he'd directed all the remaining movies as well
wow even Lupin's back is practical! I'm so glad Harry Potter was filmed back when practical effects were still considered, idk what the word is, but like artistic and prideful even if not ideal. there's just something about practical effects that looks more real in some unique ways.
Rupert is such a good actor
Really wished Cuarón could've directed more of the series instead of David Yates. David Yates had four attempts to direct and couldn't get the aspect of structure, flow, emotion etc that Cuarón did which is a shame. :/

Or Columbus. Columbus brought the whole thing to life brilliantly well. Yates spoiled it all. I regret. I regret.

But you have to agree that Yates' DH part 2 was better than his rest.

I've been telling my friends that for years. Yates doesn't understand tension, pace or comedy. His Potter films don't build throughout their movies but ebb and flow and ultimately flounder. Cuarón would have given us a very different films. It's a shame.

@@TimeMan999 i don’t understand why Cuaron didn’t continue to direct... was he fired or did he leave? Because Yates was not a good choice. I’m not one to jump on the bandwagon but I think most of us can agree we could have hardly asked for better adaptions with the first 3 films. The last 4 didn’t reach their significant potential.

4:15 that was at Virginia Water in Surrey and I just so happened to be walking there with my dad that day when we just saw them filming! Robbie Coltrane who played Hagrid is seriously massive...
Best harry potter movie for me. I like the visuals and camera work.

Man I love these practical effects, don’t get me wrong I have mad respect for the level of cgi we’ve achieved now but looking back I really love the creativity of all of this. Super fun to watch this process.
12:51 Idk why but Emma's reaction makes me laugh every time lmao
7:24 - I was so damn sure Emma's laugh wasn't directed nicely in this movie, now I have proof. But jokes aside, Alfonso is still a great director 😊
