Nice vid! Just want to hear your opinion as to which is better, stringing with one piece or two piece. In terms of tension retention and consistency, ease of job and your preference. Thanks man.

Which is better, it just depends on a person's preference. I prefer two pieces. 99% of the racquets I do are 2 pieces. I have one player who always requests 1 piece. Ease of job and speed definitely 1 piece. Takes less string to do 1 piece, but I feel that is the only benefit. Retention and consistency should be the same.

my Starting Clamp breaks the string. Is there any way to install it so it doesn't damage the string.

Not sure why the clamp would be breaking the string. Make sure not to place the string any deeper into the jaws than the eyelets on the clamp and make to take the clamp off as soon as possible. Where is your string breaking at?

@@HerbBaird The string breaks because the clamp leaves a mark. I do put the string deep into the clamp. Should I put the string around the drop of the clamp or before the notch? Thank you, I will test it.

I think it will be useful to make a video how we use the starting clamp

is the weight transfer uneven if u do a 1 piece stringing? the string from the first knot has less weight than the last length string where it turns over into the horizontal line?

No. First, do not worry about the outside strings. Should not be hitting there anyway, and if you do, you will also hit the frame. By adding the extra tension to the knot strings it helps to offset any difference.

Nice job on this video. All the other ones I watched left out key details. Yours is the only one that helped me actually do a one piece job. And I’m with you…two piece stringing is definitely faster. One question: when I finished the racket, the two knots were both on the same side of the racket and even on the same string (one at top and one at bottom). Is that a problem or just a function of the string pattern? Thanks!

Function of the string pattern and tie off locations. The racquet in this video both knots are same side same string.

Why would this racket be started at the top, for most of the 16 x 19 start at the bottom, is this just for this racquet?

  • @HerbBaird

Since the mains tie off at the top, it strings head to throat for the crosses.

Would I string a 2022 Wilson Clash 100 V2 the same way? If so, how much length should I have on the short side? Thanks!

Yes. You should have around 10 feet on the short side

The bottom cross would have an opposite weave to the top cross. If top cross is over a string then the bottom cross will be under the same string. Same is true for all racquets with an even number of crosses.

I honestly don't know. I measure using my wingspan. For me 3 wingspan is around 19'6". I use 5 and a half wingspan for those one piece.

It is not called anything. It is just a standard 1 piece that starts from the top
