Thank you so much for this beginner series, i have learnt so much. What was so helpful for a beginner was being able to see your water jar, the consistency of your mixed paint and your kitchen blotting paper as well as what you were painting. I could see how all of these elements combine to create just the right recipe of pigment and water. I realised i was not blotting my brush enough on the kitchen paper, resulting in too much water, messy blend lines land lack of control. Absolutely love all of your techniques! 😍🌸
I just saw a video where the artist used salt to make a dandelion seed puff . She spread a ring circle of salt with a few grains of salt off to the side to represent the blown away seeds. Then she painted the center of the seed ball inside and connected the puffs with the thinnest lines to the center ball. The flyaway seeds weren't connected. It turned out absolutely beautiful. The dry brushed mountains was an aha moment of understanding for me. Thanks.❤
Very helpful and fun. If you ever have the time I'd love to see how to make a clear glass vessel like a jar, vase ect.. Thankyou for the wonderful videos
Such a great reminder video. My favorite was the dry brush for mountains, especially because my goal for this year is to paint more landscapes. I always love what you do for us! Thank you❤
Hello Emma, just wondering if you would consider adding another playlist to your collection? That could be entitled ‘ Painting with Cotman’ or something similar. The reason for my request is that I quite regularly refer newbies to your channel because they have purchased Cotman and they second guess their purchase when they visit most channels, feeling they almost instantly have to upgrade to professional artist paints in order to do good art. Your early videos were very inspiring to me, when I started painting- especially the mixing and colour matching etc. using that brand. If those videos were bundled and easily accessible, it would be such a valuable resource!

She always used Cotman watercolors in all of her videos a little while back.

This would convince them that material is ALL in watercolor... which is false! Student grade material is only a little less effectivement, that's all and how many brands it concerns? Tons! Muscle memory and pratice.... them upgrade...
Happy little cloud…
Hi from Australia, thanks so much for your tutorials. I’m new to water colour and so far I’m loving it. I’m finding it a struggle perfecting the water ratio when I’m practicing wet on wet technique.
I LOVED them all! The blending without lines is the hardest for me.
Just started a week ago, and this is just the right speed...nice and easy for a newbie! Thankyou for this series.☺️🎉
From UK, you're a good teacher Emma! Have to practise your techniques and really happy with the results. I'm self taught so I'm excited x
What a wonderful series that was, Emma. You are such a good teacher! You make it look so fun and easy to do :-) Thank you
I really loved the blotting to make clouds!
I have dabbled in watercolor and I love these tutorials. I love your method of teaching. Hope to see more!
This is my favorite video among the three. I am scared of making clouds before but to have this cool trick, it definitely gave me confidence and much love for watercolor. Thanks Emma.
Great tutorials. The technique I like the most was the blurry background of the trees and the flowers and them coming back to do the foreground. Thanks for these demonstrations.

Yes…agreed ! They were really lovely and Emma explained it all very well 😊
Emma, these videos on beginner techniques were very good. I have been painting for a while but these were nice, sequential reminders. Love your sunny, upbeat style, too.
Really enjoying all your videos, I started my watercolour journey last year and it is my therapy. Keep up the great work!
great expanation, i love those reminder videos, I like the dry brush and how you do mountains with it
Thank you for this series. It’s a really great review for me,as I haven’t picked up my brush for quite some time.
Loved all 3 videos. I did do all the techniques. Awhile back I bought some cheap tubes of paint lol they will not bloom. I did buy some qor paint for blooms.
The clouds are awesome
Thank you so much Emma ❤. The newbies really need this when they first start painting in watercolor. Have a blessed day 🙏 ✨️. JK FLORIDA USA 🇺🇸.
Thanks so much for this series. I’m new to painting and this was very helpful! 13:20
I enjoy the look of the water drops on the semi dry the best. I'm not sure where to use it other than on backgrounds for doodling. Maybe a video of ideas for usìng the different tech iques could be in the future?
Love the mountains
I have enjoyed this series so much thank you Emma❤ I am eager to try it all out to see how it goes. Thank you again ❤
thank you for showing these techniques really helpful videos
Love all these techniques! Thank you for the encouragement at the end of the video. I needed someone to say that to me ❤
Thank you for the series. It is very helpful and you are good at explaining. I’m still having trouble dropping color in.
wonderful tutorial and so well explained ☺☺☺
I enjoyed all of the videos in this series!!❤❤
I love using salt when I paint. I like to let the salt patterns help decide what the subject matter will be.
Thank you so much .... hopefully you will do more in the future!!!!!
Loved the technique videos!!! Could you please go over granulating paint vs ? Regular paint thanks.
So much fun!!
Hi Emma, Thank you for the wonderful series. I've learned allot from watching you. My favorite technique is the wet on wet.Your a great teacher !
Thank you so much for these videos, they helped so much!
Dry brushing with watercolor hardest for me so far !
Looking forward to your next watercolor “help” techniques. You’re an excellent teacher. Thank you for your time and talent share. ❤
Thank you 💫, loved them all.
Hello, I'm a huge fan! I'm having trouble with water control and picking up enough pigment to get the darkest color.
I really enjoyed watching. I've been wanting to get a good review of beginning watercolor techniques. I have been painting with watercolor for several years now, but lately, I wanted to find a good review of the basics again. I'm so glad I found your three beginning episodes.
I love these videos. I ordered your book 5 months ago. Now it is coming in March! So this helped to keep me going. I load way to much with water! I liked the lifting technique!
Thanks!
Thank you Emma. This lesson was wonderful ❤
I love everything you ve taught. I would like to learn more about blending dark to light . Thanks for these videos.😊
Great teacher (like always). I am not very good in water control but, ad you said, it's a practice problem... but also a paper problem! For my Christmas cards I used Arches paper for the first time and it was really different! Thanks.
Thanks so much. Your teaching style is great!!!
Hello from Burns, Oregon. Your paper towel clouds were my favorite.
What a great video and so valuable knowledge to all struggling with watercolor. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful day.
very good information. Thank you!
Thank you ! Emma i’ve been watching you for a while now you’re always very good at explaining thank you💗✌🏼
New to watercolor painting and I thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial series. Thank you!!!
Great lessons 🎉
Thank you again for this series, Emma.
Thank you Emma for these. As commented on another video I struggle with how much water to paint ratio. Something I think I’ve got loads on my brush only to find to nowhere near enough and others there’s far too much. No matter how many times I try it always ends up this way. I’m using 300gm cotton cold pressed paper and really good brushes. 😮and when making shadows I end up with hard lines even after softening with clean brush.
Great series! So much helpful information for a beginner. Thank you
Will you do a floral tutorial series? I followed your advent calendar and was able to paint thing i didnt think id ever be able to do! I like your style of teaching! Im very new to wateecolor and sketching.
Thanks for all you insightful content ! You are an amazing teacher 💕

Loved all the effects!
Loved this series! I still have trouble when adding a secondary color to petal centers and it looking good when wet but dry the transition looks horrible. Do I have too much water? Thanks for your wonderful videos!
Wet on wet is the hardest
Hello to you from Anacortes Washington ♥️
No começo eu pensei “nossa, não sabia que a Bridget Mendler tinha um canal de aquarela”
Hi from Idaho
Thanks Emma, most fun was the effects. Hardest was doing those trees. Done them over and over and still too blurry, they bloom too much☹️

Use less water. Tap your brush on your paper towel before you touch the paper.

What paper are you using?
How do you know the difference between staining and non staining colors? Just practice with the paints??
@PaintAndDrawTogether
4 ай бұрын
The sure way is to learn pigments that have staining properties and check the paint you use if it contains them. Pthalo blue (PB15) and green PG7, PG36, PV19, PV42, PV23, PY151,PY110, PO73, PO71, etc. all are very staining and transparent. More opaque colors with bigger pigment particles tend to stay on the surface of the paper and are less staining and more granulating. The other way is to test the paint you have. I hope this helps.
