Really great information, I'm Pakistani-American and my wife & I just bought a Qom Silk Persian Rug while while visiting my grandmother in Pakistan last month. In Pakistan, you can get access to Large Handmade Persian & Afghani rugs which are very hard to find here in North America due to trade embargos etc. I was just going off what the salesman in Karachi told me and your videos helped validate alot of the information now that I'm back in the US. I grew up in a South Asian Muslim First Generation household with oriental rugs placed everywhere in our house from the Middle-East & South-Asia and now that I'm second generation, it's important I keep the oriental rug tradition alive in my family. It's great to see your videos - super easy to understand and well put together!

interesting video. My friends and I all have Persian rugs and we go one step further. We rotate our rugs as follows ; Summer rugs which are generally lighter and cooler looking, so summer and autumn well get the Nains etc out then winter and spring we get the darker, richer and warmer rugs out and put the summer ones away. Maybe we overdo it but it keeps our houses fresh and interesting.

Sorta helpful yes. My rug is 25-30 years old. It's Tabriz patterned but made in China with wool and silk. It has been damaged in small patches by insects (moths likely). I now have to repair it and I don't like how the fringe gets damaged or color bleeds in the cleaning process. Lots of maintenance costs potentially!!!

I run a digital marketing agency and just shared this video with my team. This a perfeft example of how a business can (should) be content producers to help guide their customers in making educated purchases.

A very good introduction. Catalina has much educational material and I am sure a visit there would be informative. I have learned a lot from patient, knowledgeable rug dealers who will patiently go through piles of carpets helping me select a few. I generally favor Persian and Caucasian rugs, but use Moroccan ones for more informal look in some rooms. As for dealers, it's best to buy from established firms, rather than places that bring in rugs for temporary shows. If you are buying in the Middle East, it's best to avoid tour groups and go off on your own to get individual attention. Rugs are a lifelong addiction in which knowledge and experience in rewarding.
