Hi, everyone! In this video I will be going over both forward and backward crossovers! This is a beginner friendly skating tutorial. I’ve broken everything down into small and easy steps. Starting with a very basic version of each crossover, working up to a more advanced version of the crossovers. Still a beginner friendly advanced version :) Leave any questions in the comment section below. Thank you so much for watching! The point about weight transfer is soooo important! My crossovers used to look like falling into the crossing foot and zero second push, until it suddenly clicked that I need weight on the inside foot for that second push and smoother weight transfer. Thanks for this very informative video ❤

Thank you for your videos! They are definitely helpful. Do you have any tips on loosening up upper body wise? My brain and body can’t seem to comprehend getting my shoulders to turn. 😅

I would try bending your knees more/sinking into your hips and lower body. This might help you feel more stable which will loosen up your upper body. Try some stroking positions at the wall/boards and focus on pressing deep into your knees. Hopefully you will feel a difference with your upper body when you do this! It's normal to have stiffness as a skater. Take a few deep breaths when working on elements that feel uncomfortable, this will also help with that!

That was so helpful! I was afraid to try the crossovers and I didn't think at all to just practice walking around a circle at first. I believe that will help me feel a little bit more comfortable and I'll definitely try it next time I'm on ice!

Thank you for the informative video, I was able to complete my forward crossovers this week! May I know what model of skates and blades you use? 😊

Yay! I have SP-Teri skates and coronation ace lite blades! Great skates if your like a stiffer boot or break down your skates faster. The blade is great for spins! Edge wise I'm looking to upgrade my blades soon because I need something a little bit more advanced for my intermediate moves test, otherwise I love them.

Thank you for the video!! Backwards crossover Quick question - I found it difficult to keep my outside foot in front after the push. It tends to stay next to my inside foot and I fear my blade will get caught by my toe pick. Any advice?

Glad you enjoyed the video! I would try making your first push/pump stronger and bend into your knees more. I would also spend some time on the circle working on the timing of your crossover. I can't say for sure but based on what you are describing you might not pushing the foot on the inside to the outside as the other crosses fast enough. Hopefully that helps! I've been thinking of making a shorter tutorial video for each crossover down the road so I can definitely focus on this in that video!

Hi. When you crossover do you cross onto the inside or outside edge. Thanks

The foot (outside the circle) crossing over the one following the circle will cross onto the inside edge for both forwards and backwards crossovers. Hopefully that helps!

@@journeybacktotheicewhen you bring the other foot over for the cross, are you swinging the foot in front of the other rather than stepping over?

@@journeybacktotheice do you swing the foot around in front of the over foot or step over? I am confused how to cross over properly.
