    The thing that's helped me the most with backward crossovers is bending my knees more and making sure that my inside foot is on an outside edge. It makes it way easier

    kkstar 12 same here, my balance is horrible when doing my backward crossovers. I just cant cross properly and i trip over my own feet constantly

    I can crossover. I just end up dragging my back feet on my toe picks when I'm trying to get out of it.

    Same here, backward crossovers come a lot easier for me than forward. I don't know why.

    I suppose because falling backwards is better than forwards because it's more dangerous and painful that way?

    Tips: Don’t be afraid. Just go. Look forward and wiggle your skates side to side. Or do backwards swizzles

    Oh my god. Thank you so much. I'm REALLY struggling with my backward crossovers. When I first started learning them I couldn't even cross my legs over. Now I'm only having trouble dragging my back legs causing me to scrape on my toe picks. But hopefully I'll get them very soon. Thanks for your tips and all of your help.

    Katie you have no idea how helpful this was. I just got new skates (jackson classiques) and my forward crossovers are terrible, and I don't have backwards crossovers yet. I always end up hitting my blades together and almost falling...

    I love all the tips in this video Katie!! sometimes its so good to go back to basics. I've actually just made a video on forwards crossovers on my channel, its super interesting that you've done forwards and backwards crosses in one video as they are quite different in terms of levels of difficulty.

    I've been skating for a year and forward crossovers are such a pain since I suck at them. Oddly, bacwards crossovers are my favorite skill since I'm so comfortable with them.

    i was just looking to see if you had a video about this because i am having a lot of trouble with it. I only saw you put your left foot behind your right. Doing a video where you are going the other way would help me out. Also I would love to see a video of you doing some tricks and fun things at the rollerskating rink on rollerskates just to see the difference in balance and to learn this would be really neat to learn from! you are an incredable skater! keep skating on - cheers.

    So im learning crossovers so were just crossing our feet on the ice and one foot is easier to cross over than the other, is that normal

    Kitten Lover07 yeh, for me it’s easier to cross my right foot. You just have to practice going the opposite way and crossing the opposite foot.

    Hello! What a beautiful skater you are- thank you so much for this video! I have a Skate Test tomorrow (I'm an adult beginner having started 2 months ago & skating once a week, twice if I'm very lucky) and I still have trouble using my outside edge, it feels terrifying- like I'm going to fall. Do you have any tips, other than what was in your video, to gain confidence using the outside edge for forward crossovers? Thank you in advance!

    On back crossovers, you also wanna make sure you don't trip on the front of you're blade. Believe me, it hurts.

    If it isn't too much to ask could you do a video on how to do better with going backwards. Such as if you were in a routine. My skating lessons just started doing backwards crossovers last week, and I can go backwards I have to do some wiggles first to get started. I want to learn how to start going backwards naturally without having to do wiggles.

    I haven't learned crossovers yet but i'm trying to figure out the movements, so you push off one leg, put that leg in front of the other so one leg is "under" the other, and put the "under" leg in front? Is that right?

    Any tips on doing crossovers in your non-dominant direction? I’m great going forwards and backwards counterclockwise (lifting my right leg) but I can’t get past the mental block of going clockwise (lifting my left leg).

    Oof, I just got new skates and they were all sharp and nice and I haven’t skated in a while so I was SOOO excited. I was practicing back crossovers on a public session ( that was literally me and 6 other skaters) and I looked like TRASH I was tripping and falling and OOF it was baaaaad. I still don’t have them but I’m getting better.

    When I do the backward crossovers in the counterclockwise direction, I find it difficult to fully extend the right leg under the left leg. Do you have any tips for that?

    My coach told me to point my toe on the foot I'm crossing over with to the middle of the circle when I was struggling with my forward cross over (excuse my grammar, it was probably wrong)

    I've watched this and many other tutorials for crossovers and I just can't seem to do them at all. I'm terrified to cross my feet (no problem gliding on one foot). when i finally get the courage to cross, I fall, every time. I'm getting so frustrated.
