Thank you so much for explaining how to skate backwards! One of my biggest challenges, though, is finding time on the ice when I can practice without worrying about skating into people. I tried practicing on a busy rink by looking over my shoulder from time to time, but then I obviously follow the direction of my gaze. Skated backwards into the side of the rink too many times to count now. 😂
The bend snap bend reminds me of Legally Blonde scene.

do any adult skaters start classes with absolutely no prior experience? Like not even being able to balance on the ice without holding onto a wall?

Absolutely! It's actually really common for adult and teen skaters to start learn to skate classes with no prior experience of any kind. I know some like to go skating before their first class but it's not a requirement.
