This movie is so hilarious and scary at the same time, and Michael Keaton is an absolute riot as Beetlejuice. Everyone else was amazing too.

24:05 It’s crazy how Michael Keaton played Batman yet in this movie his character is basically the Joker if he was a poltergeist.

Ok, that's legitimately hilarious. I bet Shadix would have loved to see that.

What makes this movie even funnier is that Keaton adlibbed over 90% of his lines. The tree wasn't supposed to fall over when he kicked it so when that happened, he stayed in character and said that classic line "Nice f*cking model!!". Tim Burton found that so funny, he kept it in.

I’ve seen this movie 167 times, and it keeps getting funnier every single time I see it

I like how the background music kicked in after Nate said "let us reflect". Even by coincidence, it meshed nicely.

Harry Belafonte actually died this year, back in April

Personally, I think it has become an unspoken rule that the next person going out for the role of Batman needs to have played a crazy character beforehand. Michael Keaton was in “Beetlejuice”, and Christian Bale was in “American Psycho”, and they both made that role iconic in their own right, afterward. It’s also why the other actors who have played the role haven’t been as good as those two. You need to get a sense of the Batman and the Joker’s allegorical relationship with each other. 2 halves of the same coin; Comedy and tragedy, order and chaos, good and evil. Keaton: “You wanna get nuts?! Let’s get nuts!” That should be a requirement at this point.

@@PaulW_ftPAULK Conroy was pretty much in a league of his own. Plus, I was talking about live-action Batman (excluding his cameo in the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" TV event). He pretty much took the role of Batman and made it his own. The same with Mark Hamill as the Joker. With all the times they've played the roles throughout the years, whenever someone reads a Batman comic, who grew up with those two, they almost always hear their voices in back of their minds when reading.

I can see Beetlejuice do a Batman Easteregg, like Beetlejuice saw a Batman toy or something and he saying “why do that guy look familiar? well whatever he is he’s cool”

I was born in 82, I grew up on all the horror movies and r rated films. My mother didn't pay too much attention to that kind of thing. We just got movies from the video rental or bought vhs tapes. She basically let me watch whatever.

Fun fact: Tim actually manage to hook up both production designer Bo Welch and actress Catharine O' Hara together. Edit: yes I am excited for the return of our favorite ghost with the most. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Now that I think of it, when Doug mentions how this movie had its theme but it’s also about nothing, I thought to myself: Basically “Beetlejuice” is Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland *before* his actual Alice in Wonderland movie.

I am about Doug's age and I saw this movie as a kid too on tv. I didn't know what to think of it but I did find myself laughing at times.

Outbreak is an exceptional movie!

When you think about the forced marriage scene from the movie then about the fact that Beetlejuice and lydia became friends in the series.

Hear me out on this. What if we make it a movie movement like the gentle minions thing that we sing Day O in the theater. Weather before it’s start or a callback scene.

Most kids can handle dark material. Beetlejuice is dark but campy enough that I think kids could handle it. Whether or not parents would let their kids see it is a whole other story.

Sound of Freedom was made by people with very sketchy and questionable beliefs, so be careful.

Nick does Mixology stuff? Interesting…wonder if he could come up with any cursed drinks like the infamous Mac N Cheese cocktail?😁 Yes, that was a thing, it’s even worse than it sounds, and the backstory behind it is even BETTER. I’ll try to be as brief as possible. There’s a historian KZreadr named Lazerpig, (If you haven’t been recommended any of his videos yet, I will be SHOCKED) and went on a livestream with DigitalVagrant. (Digi, he runs in the same circles as RussianBadger and SovietWomble) That livestream was hilarious, but about an hour and a half in, Digi made a *mistake* that he would come to regret. He told Lazerpig that, on a whim, he ordered several half-gallon tubs of - I swear, I’m NOT making this up - Official Kraft Macaroni and Cheese ice cream. And it’s just as god awful as it sounds, (“It’s like they dumped a cheese packet into perfectly serviceable ice cream!”) and he can’t get rid of it. Digi also has a moderator who likes making mixed drinks for fun. And APPARENTLY, the two of them decided they should have a “suicide pact” for if Digi’s “Most subs during a single livestream” record was broken, where they would have to drink 2 cocktails using THAT ice cream as one of the main ingredients. (And one of those two cocktails would have the mac and cheese ice cream, AND Russian Badger’s Gamersupps flavor, “Quacamole Gamer Fart 9000” mixed together) As soon as Lazerpig heard that, I KNEW that if we could see his face, we would see pure Satan in his expression as he leaned close to his microphone and said, “Boys… *you know what to do.”* Word spread rather quickly among Zed-Eff, leading to Digi getting raided at a few points, and less than an hour later, Digi’s record was broken and he had to drink both of those horrible, horrible cocktails.🤣 That was such a good stream.
