It looks absolutely delightful, love the effects being majority practical

Sleepy Hollow was fantastic, and Burton's last great film, though Corpse Bride was good. Haven't seen anything of his work since. I would go see this though. Looks decent. Michael Keaton hasn't lost it.

James, I think you gave the greatest advice to Hollywood at 6:06 - "That's a mistake, trying to recreate the beats of the original." That's pretty much all that's happening with all these remade, retold, retread current movies.

There’s gonna be some callbacks. It shouldn’t ruin the movie tho unless you’re going in wanting to hate.

This trailer was perfect. Didn’t show too much. The practical effects mixed with CGI is great. This is going to be huge!!

I'm always rooting for Keaton, and that trailer for the first Beetlejuice back in '88 made me want to rush to the theater, but this one for the sequel does not.

Aw, I'd say that in the 2000s Burton still made a few good films here and there, mainly Big Fish (this one seems to be many's "I don't like Tim Burton's stuff that much but this one is the exception" almost on the level Ed Wood is), Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd, IMO For the 2010s I'd say it was TRULY lackluster where even his decent films like Frankenweenie or Big Eyes just didn't have that heyday Burton bite or made me want to see them again. As for the trailer, I guess story-wise I don't know what to expect. I miss Adam and Barbara since I loved them so much in the original but I guess they'll point out some new rule in the Manual to explain how they moved on or something. Also the premise that apparently it's about saving an old building that is dear to Lydia doesn't sound that inspired, but we'll see. In terms of visuals I'm glad they're using some practical effects and stopmotion (or CGI that's animated to look like stopmotion), but I hate the color grating and how crisp and digital it looks, like how most films do nowadays. If the reviews are bad I won't bother and I'll pirate it if morbid curiosity wins.

I even love the shot at themselves for this movie in their tagline, "You've waited an eternity for this". I love that self-awareness! And from what I'm seeing here... could it be... they got it right? I think Keaton and Burton knew the assignment and they went for it. This and the new Deadpool have me excited for movies this year. Joker 2 as well, but I'm still a little hesitant with that one - but they have restructured the "musical" aspect of it and pulled back a bit on what that actually means so, I'm jumping on board with that one too I think. If they can real Venom 3 back in and get that right too? ..... How crap! We could have a heck of a year for movies!

Big fish is almost 20 years old but that's probably the last Tim Burton movie I really enjoyed. Really looking forward to this movie though.

Tim Burton did great films. Even the kids films he was involved with, the good ones for me like The Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bride have that dark, tragic and also charming touch. Then you have Batman, Batman Returns (my favorite Batman film), Edward Scissorhands, Bettlegueise, Sleepy Hollow which all are darker but still carry that bittersweetness to it that made them unforgettable. I think that as an artist he has tried to do more dark comedy and be whimsical which would not be bad but he tends to overdo it whereas before he struck a good balance between all those aforementioned elements. I tend to have my expectations low with all these movies. Nostalgia is great but again, judging by the trailer alone, and I hope I am wrong, this sequel seems to focus too much on the whimsical comedy rather than the darker aspects that made the first one special.

@GeekinWithJamesHancock it’s funny that you said you went to Cinema Con recently and Michael Keaton came out with Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton and a bunch of other people and basically at one point said they were asking themselves “Should we make a sequel?” and if so, when and why. I think that’s something a lot of Hollywood directors need to take note of now in the 21st century and not just make a sequel just to make a sequel unless they have a good reason for it. However, obviously Michael Keaton thinks he and Tim have a good reason to continue the IP so many years later so, we will see what happens

Been excited for this ever since I read press Tim Burton did complaining how miserable making dumbo and working with disney has become. Juxtaposed with his excitement and claim of him and keaton having a blast making this.

@GeekinWithJamesHancock I was never a huge Tim Burton fan although there have been things I’ve enjoyed of his like the original Batman from 1989 and with Beetle Juice being arguably Michael Keaton’s most iconic role from that era besides the dark knight, and I am slightly interested in checking out the sequel, I think it’s high time for my first watch today and maybe a couple more spaced out watches before the sequel hits theaters in early September

What are the chances that a guy named, "Alfred Gough", would be working on the script for a Tim Burton movie? Michael Gough played Alfred, Bruce Wayne's butler, in both Tim Burton Batman films (and the Joel Schumacher films, too). Gotta disagree, James. This looks good. After seeing this, I'm hoping for a third Tim Burton Keaton Batman film, too.

Big Fish was the last Tim Burton great movie. I myself didn’t think this looked good. Maybe it’s just the trailer but I do not like movies repeating beats from previous films and Lydia looking exactly like she did in the last movie is a ridiculous idea. People change. That implies she didn’t change and that’s impossible.

This does not look good. Not surprised cause Tim Burton has not been Tim Burton for at least two decades.
