Beethoven: Symphony No.9 - Legendary Recording of a Stunning Youth Orchestra and Choirs in Hi-Res

Музыка

Gimnazija Kranj Christmas Concert Series - Anniversary Edition Series.
In this series, I am going to re-upload some of the milestones from our performing and recording productions in the last 15 years. Our lead master sound engineer Mr. Iztok Zupan remastered all of our analog audio recordings in amazing digital Hi-Res audio landscape. He used sophisticated rerecording processes, rubidium clock processes and some other exotic black magic for one of the most superior sound, you can get it on youtube.
This recording of Beethovens 9th Symphony, 4th movement is particularly legendary. Our balance engineer Matjaž Culiberg from National Radio did amazing sound design. The golden generation of the orchestra played this milestone recording with never-seen-before mastery and artistic excellence. Many of those musicians are playing now in the best world symphonic orchestras: Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Berlin Philarmonic Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Tonhalle Zürich, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna State Opera, Frankfurt Opera, Kremerata Baltica, Bavarian State Opera and other renowned orchestras around the Globe. Our master engineer Iztok Zupan carefully inspected this beautiful audio material and did a spectacular re-recording audio miracle. Enjoy this legendary and one of the best performances on KZread.

Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, also known as Beethoven's 9th, is the final complete symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed between 1822 and 1824. It was first performed in Vienna on 7 May 1824. The symphony is regarded by many critics and musicologists as Beethoven's greatest work and one of the supreme achievements in the history of western music. One of the best-known works in common practice music, it stands as one of the most performed symphonies in the world.
The symphony was the first example of a major composer using voices in a symphony (thus making it a choral symphony). The words are sung during the final (4th) movement of the symphony by four vocal soloists and a chorus. They were taken from the "Ode to Joy", a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785 and revised in 1803, with text additions made by Beethoven.
In 2001, Beethoven's original, hand-written manuscript of the score, held by the Berlin State Library, was added to the United Nations Memory of the World Programme Heritage list, becoming the first musical score so designated.

Thank you zevnikov. Suffering from pneumonia, isolated at home, anxious for the expectation of testing the coronavirus, I found this gem of interpretation to relieve my spirit. Thank you very much for sharing the music of this wonderful orchestra. I hope someday they can play in my city, São Paulo, Brazil.

Joy - what a novel concept in today's world. Always loved this work but heretofore hadn't understood the words. The subtitles reveal Beethoven's inspiration the universal quest and yearning for the joy of love and peace for all the world. This Conductor profoundly comprehends this and evokes his passion from his artists. A masterpiece and one to return to for inspiration and comfort. Thank you.

Discovering you and your orchestra is God's perfect timing. He has placed it on my heart to put together classical music programs to share with the shut-in elderly in nursing and convalescent homes in "God's Country" of the Bitterroot Valley in Ravalli County of Montana USA...and I now very excited and inspired to be able to share your amazing God-sent performances. These programs are designed not only to share the priceless gift of joy music brings into our lives as the international language it is but also designed to be educational, sharing information about the composer, the conductor, the orchestra, and about the country's history. Your group excels my greatest expectations. Thank you again for such a long lasting legacy of superb tributes to superb composers!!!

This is simply an astounding performance! Maestro Becan (I don't know how to do the symbol over the c) again does the impossible: He calls the music from the beating heart of Beethoven. The quartet is one of the best I have ever heard. I have always thought that the initial entrance of the Baritone is awkward, and often the tone is ugly. This Baritone, in my opinion, makes the most beautiful music of Beethoven's recitative that I have heard to date. KUDOS TO ALL!

I shared this with a friend who used to teach music at the college level. These were her comments: "1st and last movements. This is way spectacular and appears to be a mixture of high school musicians that are better than almost any "allstate" American high school orchestras I've heard. I took notes: "Love the conductor. Really knew the score; entrances, lengths of chords, etc. "Built great accents in accented lines, then double-accented within some sections "Contrabassoon! "Of all the cellists, only 1 was male. Most violinists were female as well. "Excellent tympanist, doubled on bass drum near end of last movement "Someone coached woodwinds to professional quality - oboe, piccolo especially. I think I spotted a saxophone as well as an alto clarinet. Sax is not around during Beethoven's time. "Trumpets are right in tune (unusual at high school). Piston valves, whereas most European trumpets are rotary valved. "Solo trombone was surprisingly weak but the t-bone section was strong. "Choir matched every college choir I've heard in quality, balance, intonation. Bass voices still sounded immature (except for the soloist) but well-coached. "Sopranos were caught sliding upward into high notes regularly, almost as if it were a stylistic addition (though I doubt that it's intentional). "I looked for an immediate standing O, but it came only at the 1st curtain call. This is probably a difference in the way classical cultures differ.... We tend to stand right away for excellence, especially at youth concerts. "I really enjoyed watching this recording and noticed that there are others available. Thanks for sending this!"
