Yeah I agree with everything in this video. We do 15-25 min of timed sprints at the end of 90% of all the practices.
“Fat don’t fly” 😂 I’m like 40lbs to 50lbs over weight 6’3 256 and can still dunk easy just ugly. I can’t wait to get this weight off me so I can bounce bounce again!
What about those crazy hours long aerobic bike sessions Rodman would do on days after a practice and a game? I think it might have been a way of mentally winding down for someone that played an emotional and mental style of play

I think you’re right about the winding down, but also Rodman was just an athletic freak. It wouldn’t matter what he did to wind down, man’s body was always ready

I'm wondering how the hell Kobe was able to also run the track (HIIT training) with everything else he does! I train basketball daily plus weight training, and I physically can't go out and do sprints! You already get so much cardio through practicing!

After forcing myself to do HIIT sprints while doing everything else, (Don't do it on a treadmill unless that's all you have) I became a beast at 50 years old. Now no one wants to guard me. Not because I'm a scoring savant but because I NEVER STOP MOVING AND CUTTING. Also, to kill two birds with one stone I started HIIT training while dribbling a basketball. Handles, quickness and stamina for me =exhausted opponents=victims. 😊

Watch kneesovertoesguy he’s the best channel for preventing and reversing injuries. This is an nba channels he’s trained Joel embid before who is hella injury prone he’s also trained James harden who is bad at defense

Over the off-season I currently do 90 minutes of skill work and about an hour in the weight room. I feel like my on-court endurance is ok but I definitely need some work
Runs should be for recovery purposes. Sprints outside are good for mental recovery and recover runs for 10-20 mins are good for athletes but not to increase conditioning. It's more like meditation and for joint perseverance for me. Running trails keeps my joints primed and my mind clear especially out on hills of PV by the ocean. And when I feel like it, I'll sprint up hill to challenge myself

Hey Paul, So how would I integrate the speed code in my high intensity days? Would it be: speed code, court, conditioning? Wouldn't the court + conditioning right after the *speed code* affect the effects (gains) of the speed code?

Only would affect if your feeling fatigued if but if leave a workout and you feel great that’s a great sign and just go hard in the speed code n on court n you should be conditioned we’ll play more games to truly see if your conditioned well
Couldnt find any studies on how aerobic training causes some significant cns fatigue. Could you link some or make a video about it, all I have heard is that you could do it almost daily.

Hey, I’m 13 8th grade year and I’m around 5,8 and my aau coach has been playing me as pf but I can shoot and handle the ball pretty well but i never get as many chances when we run our plays because of the position I’m put in. Should i be looking for a team to play me as a guard or a small forward

do all think 196 at 6"1 is overweight for basketball cus I feel strong but when I run or jump I feel slower. I have been trying to go from playing soccer to basketball I need to be more explosive because I don't have enough space to actually accelerate like in soccer.

Should we come into team preseason fit or get fit before team preseason? If before preseason when should we start focusing on fitness, like 4-6 weeks before?
So, I understand how to program conditioning in the pre-season but how do I program conditioning in my off-season? Do I still use the RPE method or something else?
How do you test for maximum heart rate?
I wonder what you would have Zion doing to lose weight with his injury? Distance swimming (a mile) and biking (12-15 miles) every day should be doable for him, along with stretch workouts, light weight workouts.

Get your heart beating as fast as possible by doing sprints or sum then put you hand over your heart and count you heartbeats per minute (I think)

Use a HR sensor or count how many beats in 10 seconds and multiply by 6.
Isnt basketball and sports done in a mental state where you are not actively thinking (not burning a ton of calories with your brain) and all desicions are made by intuition unlike chess where you think actively and actually burn calories because of brain activity. Atleast it should be if you can get into flow, and if you are thinking activiely you are not playing well, you spoke of this zone yourself. Would be interesting to know how much more brains use energy in ball sports vs chess/problem solving.
