Very informative for a beginner such as myself great work!

Never trapped before but trying to start for beaver, do you ever have the traps close on your arms/ legs and if so, how serious is the injury. Just wanting to know for the worst case sinerio

How do you attach your trap tags

Wish I would've watched this first. I am new to trapping and ordered a pair of Duke 330's. I can tell from watching this that the Belisle is a higher quality trap. My Duke's seem to work fine, but while trying to get springs into setting position, they love to fold back into the center of the trap, inherently grabbing a finger or thumb. Also, the safety's on the Duke traps do like to fall off while manipulating the trap. Not a comforting thought for a beginner. Nice tutorial. Thanks for the good audio!

Just about everybody starts with the cheaper traps then gradually upgrades to the good stuff. That is so frustrating when you are trying to set one and the spring just slides right on around the trap. If you don't already have one I would recommend getting a safety gripper, here's a link with several different ones. www.fntpost.com/Categories/Trapping/Body+Grip+Accessories/Safety+Grips/ I've haven't used the safety pin one yet but it's on the next supply list. I'm not a big fan of the others, but they will all keep the trap from snapping on your hand should the safetys fall off. Good luck out there!

Great video, thanks for posting. I am new to trapping and doing it as a part of the job (wildlife biologist). When setting the 330s how study should they be? This is something that we are unsure about we try to get them as sturdy as we can but there is still some wobble in them. Any info would be great. Thanks for the help!

I just go for as steady as possible. Using sticks through the springs gets them pretty steady but they still wobble a little. You just don't want a beaver or otter bumping it and it falling over

+Julio Braga The larger the number the larger the trap, so a 110 conibear is a small trap typically used for muskrat and mink, 220 is a mid sized trap usually used for raccoon, and a 280 (the trap in the video) or a 330 is the largest and is used for beaver and otter. Usually a 330 is 10 inches by 10 inches

I didn't become a beaver trapper by choice, but by necessity. Bought my dream property, then watched the beaver come in and destroy. my new pond dam. 10 beaver and counting , and they just keep coming . Have two conibear traps working as we speak. They have also chewed up my floating dock. I have learned to hate these fury little bastards.

Beavers kill hundreds of willow, maple, oak trees. Seem to never kill hedge or locust trees. Destroy farm lands....

Trapping is sick and sadistic I’m actually watching a surviving shell and a beaver trapper on his way back crashed his four wheeler and was trapped on the road for three days and almost died and I couldn’t help but think of the irony boy he struggle to get them under that ATV and was miserable now he knows how the beavers feel listen if you want to trap feel free but you should feel the trap that you’re using for the animals so you should be trapped on a cold night for 24 hours and if you likeThen do it if you can’t stand it don’t make the beavers do it or any animal for that matter
