You might want to consider carrying a tourniquet or two on your belt or in on your waders. I've read of three separate cases of people being killed by beaver. I think one was in Maine and the others were in Russia and Finland. One was a swimmer attacked by a beaver in a lake or river. I think the one in Russia was a rabid beaver that bit the person on dry land. I can't remember the specifics of the other one. The common factor in all the deaths was that the beavers bit the people in the leg and caused them to bleed out from a severed femoral artery. Given the size of their teeth and strength of their bite, any solid bite on the leg has the potential to hit the femoral artery. Having your legs exposed and being close to their dens could obviously result in a bite. Without a tourniquet for self aid, it is possible you could bleed out before getting back to your vehicle. The Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT), SOF Tourniquet (SOF-T) and SWAT-T tourniquet are quality, proven systems and are easy to use.

Wish I had 10 foot for some areas but they are so lightweight to carry
