The new kits are keeping to the dark hours, usually sent to be bed by their Mother well before dawn. I was very lucky to see them in light when they had first come out of the lodge. So, I'm having to use a thermal camera to see them. As they get older they will appear in the early dawn, late dusk daylight hours like the adults.
They are often being carried by their Mother but have started to explore the near ponds on their own. They can swim, paddling furiously and very buoyant. One is slightly bigger than the other.
Last year's kits were showing an interest in them. They can stay with the parents for up to 2 years before they go off to do their own thing.
