Suzi I see bee hives on your land! Maybe because of the slight buzzing noise in the video! I set up a hive here in Spain - with help from experienced local beekeepers - amazing how generously the knowledge was shared 🐝🐝🐝. And we harvested 6 or 7 kg in the first year!!

💜 Property has great bones, you have vision. The doors are fab, still think the same in the bedroom would be a good move. The wild flowers are just so good, mowing pathways is a what I do in my lawn. The yellow flowers I think are Corn Marigold, the white Oxeye Daisy, the purple is Purple Vipers Bugloss. For greater privacy from the road, consider an evergreen drought resistant hedging shrub. Your courtyard has a lot of potential. for lush and colourful planting.

Thanks for all your suggestions. It’s not possible to make the same doors from the bedroom as all the walls have buildings the other side. But I think the large to floor window will give enough light 😀💕

It's all looking lovely. What an amazing space! When you mow the paths, it's probably worth laying a weed barrier below any wood chip layers - or else the rampant wild flowers will just grow up through the paths. You've obviously got a great growing environment there, and the garden layout itself will be another great project.

Hello Suzi, I'd keep the old toilet and use it as a planter, I did that with mine in France, grew tumbling toms, and it made my French neighbours laugh. Looking forward to seeing your new kitchen! A patio outside the patio door perheps, with table and chairs? So glad its all going well, but, it must be costing you a fortune. Cost me a load to have a new kitchen build in France, and mine was off the shelf.

Elizabeth, yes a seating area is in my plans and also at the front of the house in the courtyard area. I agreed a set price for the whole project so no nasty surprises. It’s cheaper here to build in Portugal than most other European countries 😀

The house is looking absolutely amazing! I love the glass door. I gives you alot of light. So beautiful! I like the type of strimmer with a wheel base. The ones that you sling over your shoulder are too heavy.🙂👍👍🇨🇦

Hola Suzi. Love the patio doors - a real feature that combines function and style. Congrats. Well done on getting as far as you did with the strimmer. How frustrating that you need another part for it to work. I dont blame your excitement about the kitchen build - i'm sure i'd be much worse at tempering my enthusiasm!! That front door is beautiful. The site is nice and clean, it really looks nice inside. I’m iffy about the yard outside. I know it’s ok to be unruly in rural places. But if you could dedicate a patch for the wild flowers. Then have an intentional patch for perennials or drought hardy plants. But that you’ll develop in time.

Ruth, the courtyard is work in progress. I can’t really do much about it until the builders leave and take all the rubble. But I have started to tidy up what I can 🙏💕

Suzi, btw...old doors make great table tops! Trestles cheap to buy readymade. Just check height...two sizes. Paint tin one smart heritage green and either varnish or paint trestles to protect. A plain sheet over for outdoor picnic living, or use as potting, seedling workbench. Love them!!

Ps, I asked my son to pick up a suitable old door at local builders dump! He arrived with heavy solid narrow one of 2 metres length. My idea was to place it on patio, paint or cover it with plain white plastic cloth. Then to arrange my various terracotta pots, a la Monty, BBC gardening, and have bulbs, etc. bought trestles and now it's my dining table, with a tiny flowers print sheet, ( never used, vintage) with candle sticks and 3 small tcotta pots with fresh Herby Geranium leaves! Old d room table, in playroom!! 😅

The doors look great, it’s really starting to come together now looks lovely 😊😊

Hi Suzi, almost there! Like the way you get stuck in and clean up unwanted left overs. What a useful carport! Soo vintage and quaint, a remains of a way back then out building. I can see you netting those columns and planting a Jasmine or Granadilla up, or a rose. Do steal some cuttings from the ones on your walk! Lovely wild flower reserve and surely no need to strim until they have dropped seeds. Hope you have asked builder to attach curtain rods to walls above doors and windows, asap, for privacy. Spot lights over doors and gates at entrances? Burglar alarm? Essential. Hope you have caring neighbours all on a whatsapp group? Trust your builder will install essentials asap. Security is no I priority.

Hi Nicolette, the outside covered area was for donkeys. I will certainly grow something up the columns. Security is not an issue here in Portugal, it has extremely low crime. I have shutters on the front windows but I hadn’t even thought about curtains for the big doors. It really isn’t much of a thing here. No-one comes down my small road at night. I will be putting a metal side gate and front gates at the front of the house for privacy though 🙏💕

Btw...i can see 1/2 wine barrels placed in courtyard along the wall and ditto along wall in vineyard to be filled with daffs, narcissus, tulips, Chrysanths. My store bought selection of Chrysanths in bloom now. Very pretty. Southern hemisphere, ofcourse. How lovely it will all look once your vines respond to your t l c!

@@dreamlifeportugal place bricks under between drainage holes otherwise the wood rots. I put lots of cardboard, leaves, bark before soil. It takes a lot! But looks soo right..Geraniums also lovely with blue Lobelia hanging over, and dear Marigolds! White Iceberg roses soo traditional. Planted among vines. When I trim back in Winter I just push stems randomly all over and they grow beautifully. Don't forget the focal point...a bird bath. Cats soon learn if you have a cross voice and shout NO !! 🤔🙄☺️
