My favorite moment in the Concert for Bangladesh is when George plays the opening notes to "Here Comes The Sun" and the crowd goes nuts and he smiles. You can tell he was trying not to, but he couldn't help it.

I've just listened to Gone Troppo recently for the first time in decades, and it's pretty good. Similarly, I don't think either Dark Horse or Extra Texture are as bad as 70s mythology would have us believe. 79s GH album is classic, too.

@@phillipanderson7398 My least favourite, to perhaps be controversial, is Somewhere in England. There are a few good songs, but as an album I prefer even Extra Texture. Perhaps it's just the 70's "feel" that I prefer.

One of George's great songs not often mentioned is THE PIRATE SONG! In 1975 he was a guest on Rutland Weekend Television who didn't want to sing. He wanted to be a pirate, and when he appeared at the end he played the opening chords for My Sweet Lord, suddenly changing into a jaunty song about wanting to be a pirate "Sailing on the BB Sea". Eric Idle tried to stop him but then the whole cast joined in. I have the song on a rare Japanese CD. Probably George's happiest song?

Great video! I’d love to have seen George do a ukulele album. I think ‘Brainwashed’ is the closest we’ll get to that, with the uke being featured on a few of the songs including “Any Road” and “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea”.

George Harrison was a spiritual artist. He sought after greater purposes of life and gave music to his inner feelings and revelations in a rock era which was itself a challenging task to do.The depth of his songwriting and performances is unparalleled many of his songs have a real zenful effect. And then of course his amazing slide. He was really unique! George goes beyond The Beatles. That's my opinion.

I always liked George’s music, but we have to be honest here. George was easily angered when he was young, and he could be spiteful. And that’s fine. Almost everyone in their early to mid-20’s is more often than not, an ass. I always believed George’s spiritual side was his effort to overcome his innate anger issues.

I recently learned to play Georges song from Cloud Nine ‘ That’s what it takes’ on guitar. His chord structuring is a unique revelation after playing for so many years. I enjoy this song so much that I play it through everyday. Georges song ‘ Stuck inside a cloud’ was played at my dads funeral in 2017 during the photo montage. I think the album Brainwashed was an excellent record which created the perfect bookend to Georges solo musical career. It’s rumoured that there’s much more unreleased material in his home studio at Friar Park in various stages of production. I’m hoping that his estate might release a CD boxset containing new material.

"Let's give the perm a pass here." 😄 You have the best quotes Andrew! I think the reason I can't do this kind of ranking, even though I definitely play albums more than others, is I get so caught up in when I got them and what they mean to me in my childhood. For instance, my dad went to the Concert Bangladesh, evening show. He got the box set as soon as it came out and I heard it all the time. I may not play it that much now, but I love it. Impossible for me to rank....it's like a childhood friend. I am very sentimentally attached to songs that would be odd choices perhaps to other fans.🙂 I love Dark Horse because of the title song and Ding Dong. I mean, who else gave us a celebration New Year's song but George? ATMP is just genius and I agree completely. You are a brave one making this list and I am in agreement with your top 3!

However, I still really loved your format for rankings, and loved seeing how the albums matched up against John's and Paul's. the self titled George Harrison album is one of my favourites, and would be number 2 behind ATMP in my rankings, its an up album, my favourites Love Comes to Everyone, and If you Believe, which I think was co written with Gary Wright (who also had a perm at the time lol). Ringo has some very underrated albums, one of his very poor sellers being Stop and Smell the Roses which I love, and which he sings Wrack My Brain a George song that I not sure George ever recorded. A lot of contributions on this from Paul M, Stephen Stills, Nilsson etc. Ringo has some other very fine songs, Liverpool 8, and Never Without You his tribute to George come to mind!

Andrew, as always great video. My favorite George Harrison album, are you ready for it? I bought Extra Texture when it was first released, when I was 14 years old. I'm 61 now, and that album still effects me. I just love it. I want your opinion of the live version of If I Needed Someone. Yes I know it's being played by the Eric Clapton band, and yes, I know it's a more modern version, but that being said, don't you think George Martin could have done a better job in producing it? Dark Horse does seem to divide people. I personally do love it. I think it's a great album to listen to when you're depressed. Simply Shady just taps into something in my brain when I've had a really bad day. Then there's Ding Dong which is so cheery that it starts to make me feel better and ending on Je Sui Krishna which is just so relentlessly happy that I find it hard not to smile. I first heard that album when I was in a dark place mentally and I tend to go back to it when life takes me back down those paths. This would be my list (based on how I'm feeling right now, it's been a while since I've listened to some of them...but it'd be something like this): 12 - George Harrison - a couple of amazing songs, but the production is a bit too "easy listening" overall for my liking. 11 - Electronic Sound - a bit of harmless fun. 10 - Gone Troppo - Probably a good party album. 9 - Wonderwall Music - An epic journey through eastern and western music. 8 - Brainwashed - A little over produced but great songs, I'd really like to hear the album the way he intended. 7 - Living In The Material World - solid album. 6 - Somewhere In England - Blood From A Clone, Save The World, what's not to love. 5 - Extra Texture (Read All About It) - Very moody and cool. 4 - Dark Horse - See above paragraph. 3 - Cloud Nine - The first solo Beatle album I heard (I think), so many great moments. 2 - 33 and 1/3 - This is just so much fun, he's not taking himself too seriously, pretty diverse, just a fun ride. 1 - All Things Must Pass - The ultimate epic rock album, perhaps the greatest ever made by anyone ever. It's just the perfect album. Personally, I don't think he ever made a bad album. There are just ones that I was able to connect with a lot more than others.

Seems like Paul testing Brian's authority early on 😄 Also did the Philharmonic which think you did with John Heaton? And finally got to go to the Jacaranda. I'm pretty sure I know why you're finishing with Ringo - to give you time to catch up on all his many (20+) albums, most of which even diehard Beatles fans have never listened to much or maybe at all. He's got at least a half dozen live albums with the All-Starr Band, but his contributions are usually less than half the songs compared to his guests - so maybe better leave those out and stick to just VH1 Storytellers and Live at Soundstage. However, this series probably would have benefitted from starting with Ringo, then adding George, John and Paul, probably in that order. I just don't see how any Ringo album is going to be able to crack the top 10 (maybe top 20) unless you're being very generous to him. I love several of Ringo's albums, but I couldn't put any of them above Venus & Mars, which you currently have at #11, though for me would be a few notches higher. Nevertheless, this is an amazing undertaking and I wish you best of success at it. You probably deserve a commendation for making it through all 100+ albums with your sanity intact.

To me Brainwashed is Georges second best album to ATMP. Like ATMP Brainwashed is a album that contains songs that George wrote over a number of years .A classic i dont like Cloud 9 as much as Georges other albums .Too commercial and bland affair. l much prefer Extra Texture to you .One of his best. Material world ,33and a third, George Harrison are all enjoyable. Sometimes in England has its moments as does Gone troppo.AND ATMP is quite simply the best of all Beatles solo albums

The only albums by George Harrison I’m familiar with is the album of the Darkhorse box set and all things must Pass but my favorite albums by George Harrison that I’ve listened to so far, are brainwashed which is a good album and cloud nine is a very fantastic album I love not only the 10 songs on it but the bonus tracks on there are great too like the zigzag and Shanghai surprise. I do love the album George Harrison that’s a really good album that’s my next favorite my other favorite is the somewhere in England that’s a album was really good songs like all those years ago, and blood from A clown. gone troppo is another good one I like with songs like dream away mystical one gun tropical. Another album I love probably number two it’s going to be 33 1/3 what a great album with great songs like women don’t you cry for me dear one beautiful girl one of the best songs that George has ever written. 33 1/3 as a really good album which is the first album from his dark horse album that he released which is on the dark horse boxer it’s a fantastic album and my other favorite album would have to be live in Japan this is one of my favorite live albums ever George Harrison is such in top form which is a great album from start to finish. I love at the beginning of taxman where you actually hear the counting of George and Paul the 1234 part before the live band starts the song. and one of the things I love on live in Japan is the last first which was never used in the songs taxman and piggies which is a great song. I think on the white up I’m super deluxe box that you have the lyrics which were never used in the final version of piggies. and I love the different lyrics after the other verse of taxman which was not used on the final version from the revolver album. I love Eric Clapton and George Harrison doing songs like taxman and some thing those are great extended jams at the end and the highlights for this album there’s so many because I love all the songs, but if I had to pick what the highlights are on live in Japan they would have to be taxman piggies here comes the sun, isn’t it a pity while my guitar gently weeps and roll over Beethoven. I love the live version of one of my guitar gently weeps, because you have Eric Clapton and George Harrison playing those amazing guitar solos and there’s a song that was not performed live as much and it’s one of my favorites of the George Harrison gym that you don’t care a lot on the radio and that is the song called tear down I think that song first appeared on the very best of dark horse I love that song it’s a great one I heard it on the radio studio version. I love at the end of all my guitar gently weeps, George Harrison says Eric Clapton psycho guitars let’s do some cycle guitar man I think that is one of the best team worst lines ever lol. of course my number one favorite George Harrison album and I’ve listened to you and I still love to this day and I know it’s yours as well Andrew which is all things must Pass I am so glad that Georgia released us as a triple album it’s a very fantastic album from beginning to end I love the huge production of it it’s epic and it is fantastic. There’s so many great songs on it from any time to my sweet lord isn’t it a pity what is life let it down, one of the mill and I love that bonus track I left for you which was not released I think it could’ve been it would’ve been great and I could go on and on about this album but it’s a fantastic album I’m one of the few people that loves the Apple jam instrumental because it shows the musicians having fun and doing such wonderful jams together And I love you song called it’s Johnny’s birthday and I love how the speed is faster in that song. It’s a fantastic album nonetheless and I’m glad that George Harrison included five of the bonus tracks on the 2000 remastered version. I can’t pick any highlights for me of all things must Pass because I just love the entire album all the way through.

20:11 My fav 1970s LP has always been Queen II by Queen. 12. Extra Texture, Somewhere in England & Gone Troppo: they're all in the bottom in no particular order, as for ET I gave it a try I didn't liked it even "You" and "This Guitar (Can't Keep From Crying)" I've never liked these two and also I'm just not a big fan of the 1980s, "All Those Years Ago" there's nothing wrong with it's beautiful but PERSONALLY I find so hard to listen to maybe I've a truma I just hate the early solo Beatles LPs in 1980s it's so hard to accept Lennon's passing. 11. Brianwashed: same with George it was released after his death I even struggled with Paul albums from this era. 10. Wonderwall Music. 9. Cloud Nine: Trust me I didn't ranked as No.9 on purpose, I like side one but never been crazy about it, it's 9 for me.... Number 9 number 9 number 9 ......... 8. Live in Japan. 7. Concert For Bangladesh. 6. Electronic Sound: I like experimental albums, this doesn't mean I like Revolution 9 that much or the Lennon & Yoko's experimental, but this one I'm the only being who enjoys it. 5. Dark Horse: I used to be confused about why I like this one, it's not just to be different, but it's not away from difference cus I find it interesting to hear a different sound from George I thought he sounded more like his best friend Bob Dylan, but then I used to enjoy listening to it. It's like a much better Bob Dylan, and the instruments on this one is just so good, side one a love both sides with only and exception I've never liked his Everly Brothers cover "Bye Bye, Love", "Māya Love" is a bit boring, but can you believe that "Ding Dong, Ding Dong" is on of my only two Xmas songs that I like xD 4. Thirty Three & 1/3 3. Living In The Material World: Idk if you're gonna be offended but I'm an atheist, I disagree with what or how George thinks about human and life in general I'm not interested in changing the world it's that I like it, I just accept as it is, even when it's the same world that killed John, I mean the one has to be flexible, it's so hard at times even harder when you're an introvert... But this album is great! I absolutely adore "Who Can See It". 2. George Harrison: A laid back one, perfect for a lazy guy like me! 😂🤍 33 & 1/3 and Dark Horse both have the same element Idk what exactly is it but there's something common that makes me prefer such music... 1. All Things Must Pass: this one is so hard to be missed, even if my fav genre in the 1970s is Metal and Art rock but ATMP is such a massive work by George, my fav instrumental is "Out Of The Blue" yet again I don't like his religious songs I prefer this doesn't implies on his Indian music with The Beatles.
