Awesome also hunt NY and had my first encounter with a bear this archery season. Didn't result in a kill but awesome nonetheless. Congrats on them rug steaks.

NY

Not being able to bait in NY, what was the process like finding this bear? and ultimately being able to get it in shooting light? I really want to hunt bear this fall in NY but don't know where to start

Find the food. Best bet is corn field and then acorns. Bears are creatures of habit. Find their path to and from food. and you should be able get one
