@bradharrison4095
8 ай бұрын
As a long time hunter, I have a lot more appreciation for the meat that I harvest rather than getting it from a store. Responsible hunters learn and care for deer herds far more than the average person. For example, when I'm hunting white tails I will not harvest any fawns or does with fawns. With our Canadian winters, harvesting a doe that has a fawn there is a high probability that the fawn will not survive the winter. I will only harvest a mature buck that is most likely past his prime and no longer breeding. Obviously I can't speak for all hunters and I'm sure there will be some animal rights people that will argue this. So, in short ... I do not feel bad. I know where my meat is coming from and what it has been eating. I also know that it has lived a good long life.
@ObviouslyOutdoorsmen

@bradharrison4095 I wouldn’t say we Feel bad, I can only speak for myself but the feeling is more of relief and thankful when a hunt is successful. The hard work paying off. And here in NJ taking a doe with fawn early in the season once the fawn loses its spots the fawn has a very high survival rate. And with over population having Nj bag limits in most zones at “Unlimited Doe” I try and fill my freezer

A lot of these shots are hitting opposite shoulders, and arguably the arrow does a lot more damage with half penetration. Arrow goes in, and every stride the broad head is in there slicing and dicing.
@ShaneSimpsonHunting
11 ай бұрын
@ObviouslyOutdoorsmen that is not true. Most of those shots hit only ribs and an arrow does not continue cutting if still in the deer. It only makes them run farther and they don't bed down as soon.
Can't say anything about black bear, but I never could understand a hunter needing to bait Whitetail. Then shoot them over bait. Not very sportsman.
@ObviouslyOutdoorsmen
Жыл бұрын
If we’re talking Ethics, Bait gives you the opportunity at the most ethical shot, and I like my shots within 20 yards. You use the gun, if you’re going to make the arguement that baiting isn’t very sportsman because it brings deer in then how is gun when you can shoot out 200 yards? All hunters are all on the same team, as long as someone is within the laws hunting why try and separate the small number of us? And if baiting allows a Youth hunter to become hooked on hunting because they saw 20 deer and took their first deer over bait🤷🏻♂️ sounds like the right thing to do.
@itsyaboi9103
Жыл бұрын
the real argument with bait is that it can spread disease among the deer population and not about ethics of house easy it is to hunt them. bait pile or not, they may never come in and you will be cold. even if they do come in, you still have to quiet and have enough discipline and self control to make a good shot.
@chuckcapage6238

I certainly appreciate the feed back. I'm just expressing how I was raised. Ive taken MANY a deer from inside 20 yards. All with out baiting them. I've missed out on many that were too far out that I couldn't bring in to get a shot. They out smarted me. It was still very exciting even if I didn't get a shot. Thats what is called fair chase.
@jamesmcclure3502
Жыл бұрын
Location is a huge factor as well. If you live in a state that allows baiting, it’s almost impossible to compete with neighbors that bait, if your not baiting. I live in South Carolina and everyone uses corn here. It’s just the way we do it. If your neighboring properties have corn piles everywhere, your not going to get very far hunting over no corn. Yea you might see deer from time to time but the bottom line is the food brings the does, and the does bring the bucks. Yea in a perfect world, nobody could hunt over a bait pile and it would all be even. I’d love the idea of hunting on just food plots and hunting terrain and geography. But thats just not reality in some places. Especially if your limited to smaller tracts of land and can only hunt on say 10 or 20 acres. Land here in the Lowcountry in extremely expensive and it’s not feasible for most people to just go buy 500 acres and be able to hunt however you want on it. Trust me there is still strategy when hunting over bait. It can even be harder at times because the deer get skittish around the corn and will even get nocturnal. The bucks are obviously smart and you can go a whole season without seeing one anywhere near your bait. And public land here is a joke. Its like a pile of rats fighting over a cracker.

I was enjoying it up until 3:40 at which point one of the most egregious acts of shooting a doe with a fawn still in spots right by her side. In this one man's opinion, one of the most unethical things to do. The act of a desperate hunter that hasn't filled their tag all season and is on the verge of eating tag soup. I'd rather burn the tag as to kill a momma with a fawn. Do better, this gives the anti's so much ammo to try to stop us from hunting.
sloppy shooting IMO.
isso é cruel, é melhor um rifle para neutralizar rápido e não ter sofrimento!
Baiting an animal to shot them isn't hunting! It's cheating and shows how poor of a hunter you are! I hunt strictly Public land and I always kill 2-3 deer a year. I scout very little and No Baiting or Trail cams! If you need lessons I'm here Monday-Sunday!

When You want the most ethical shot, in an overpopulated deer state. Baiting is the move…90% of my shots are from 5-25 yards. It is hunting. And I take 10-15 deer a year 🤷🏻♂️
@Olaf236

I’ve hunted deer since 1967. Never used bait, always hunted “ethically “. In 2001 my SIL talked me into bow hunting, my first year. He also talked me into hunting in Wisconsin, nearby. Baiting was legal, it would be a slam dunk! Long story short the deer came for the bait but always had an eye to the sky, and I was up about 20-25 feet. It took me 55 minutes to be able to draw on one of the two does that came out. 20 yards away & at the sound of the shot she ducked the arrow. I’ve never hunted over placed bait after that year and I’ve had better success without it!

Not my kettle of fish... that's not hunting baiting and bushwacking or ambushing... hunting is foot slogging, Bush craft, tracking and stalking... Then the poor animals suffer so after being arrowed... why no neck or head shots would show more skill and remorse... kill shots drop animals with 5m of being shot.... bow hunting, hide ambushing, and bush wacking should be banned... not sporting at all...
