Beacon 42 Kayak Launch, Mosquito Lagoon

Спорт

Beacon 42 Kayak Launch will put you in the heart of the Mosquito Lagoon. This spot is known for big black drum and redfish. It can also be a good spot for trout. A lot of the flats in the Lagoon are less than a foot deep, making it a good place to paddle a kayak or paddle board. It is also a good spot to see a rocket go up from the Cape. Pick a day when you can fish then watch a rocket go up. It makes for a great time on the water.

I would have loved to see the lagoon in its prime. I've heard it was incredible. Hopefully with the ongoing conservation efforts and an engaged and informed public it will get back to its former glory one day.

You had a great view of the launch!! Nice video! Last year when I launched out of there at sunrise, there was a huge pack of wild hogs. I had to wait for them to leave before I got out of my car!

Palm Beach Pete Kind of slow. There's no grass anywhere. Been catching fish sporadically during peak times (Dawn and dusk). The day time bite is non-existent.

I am starting to see more redfish here in Palm coutty. But I feel like these fish are misplaced because of the grass situation. Like they are looking for more habitible locations.

Is it safe to paddleboard fish with an 11ft inflatable in the lagoon, especially if going solo, ie., would I be at risk of an alligator or bull shark encounter or attack if I fished those islands, being unfamiliar nesting areas? Just don't to get in over my my head, safety-wise, so to speak.

You should be fine. The only risk to look out for is the boats. I often see sharks swimming by as I paddle. They are cool to look at.

I would be more worried about sailcats puncturing anything inflatable more than alligators or sharks

If you have a "Beautiful America" pass they will honor it for the launch and parking fees. I've paddled across the lagoon from Beacon 42 over to Padron Island a couple of times. The fishing can be really good over there because of less pressure. I learned the hard way though to make sure ahead of time that the wind is at your back going both ways... I have been fishing out of WSEG lately with some luck, and even made a couple of videos from there. I used to work at the Cape for 20 years and got laid off back in 2011 when NASA shut the Shuttle program down. Oh well, more time to fish...

For those that bring a drone anyways you will lose it. They have the ability to take control of your drone. They can land it or kill it. And they also will know exactly where it's at and where it was launched from.

Hey Pete,Went up to KARS Park last week and the water conditions and fishing was terrible. I should have known something was up at the launch site when I saw about a dozen dead horse shoe crabs all over the place. I paddled all the way to the spoil islands which is north and hit all the flats and only got one sea trout. The water quality was terrible. I could see 2 or 3 inches into the water. You were right saying there was no sea grass at all up there. Hoping it will change maybe in the future or maybe try a little north next time. Thanks

Just subscribed. This is my neck of the woods and have launched from Beacon 42 a lot in the past but not since the new ramps have been put in. I was a little further south at the Biolab ramp when this launch occurred. Check out my channel if you get a chance.
