Even the way Peter Bolgar said "That was a public information film" was ever so slightly different to normal, perhaps indicating that this was the last time he'd ever say those familiar words and that the end had come. A sad announcement really for me considering that I had grown up with that voice since I was born. I used to love listening to the announcers and watching the globe spin by. Thanks Peter wherever you are, also for the autographs you sent me forty years ago. I've still got them!

Goodness me, they dont make public information films like *that* any more, do they?!

Interesting to note the extremely slow globe fade out long after the national anthem had ended. Almost as if Bolgar could barely bring himself to pull the fader control downwards one last time. Or perhaps I am reading too much into this.

Thanks, It's nice when they say their goodbyes. There must be quite a few that don't say anything.

@@ADCTVCollection I wonder if there was a slew of them resigning in the summer of 1995 or if these two clips are just coincidence. I know that BBC1 moved to a new presentation suite in 1995, so maybe that had something to do with it? Or maybe they were just sick of that croak-voiced Dalek sitting in the Director-General’s chair at the time?

Could be to do with that, maybe they did not want to learn the new presentation suite, although, from your closedown David Miles did move to Channel 4 that year, so maybe a better offer on the wages. One thing that could be a clue to where he was going he says " I've come to the end of this channel for (4) the present. It almost sounds like they way he says it.

Peter Bolgar was a class act. Sad to see what the BBC has become now.

Jaws the revenge is a shockingly bad movie, surprised to see it at 6pm though.
