With a disc sander, you can only use half the disc for sanding (the part that is going down). Otherwise it jumps around and picks the piece off the table. Lol @ feeding the plastic figure into it. 😂

Great review! I'm looking at getting this one as soon as it goes on sale. It looks better than the other belt sander Harbor Freight offers. In your video, the board was jumping on the disc sander because you're only supposed to use the left side that's spinning downwards. This pushes the board down against the metal table. If you sand on the right side, the grit will grab the board and make it lift up as it tries to fling it to the left. This limits the size of the items that you can sand using the disc sander, but it will keep you safer. Also, it's a good idea to never wear gloves when using a disc or belt sander (palm sanders are fine) because the glove can get caught and pull your hand into the sander. Thanks again for the thorough review of this belt sander.

Before you buy, look at the Wen, and Ryobi, belt sanders. They’re all the same machine just different prices

@@flexedout6650 Ryobi is $200, WEN is $124. Not in stock though, has to be ordered in. I just picked up the Bauer for $109 with a coupon. No way is the Ryobi worth the $200. Everyone keeps trying to sell their used ones for $150 and $125. Sorry, it was overpriced to begin with. Not paying that. It's why you can always find the used Ryobi sitting around longer than the others.

Adjust the belt tracking with it running.

The problem with the 45 degree on the wheel was that you likely didn't have the board squared up, as well as it's best practice to have it on the left side, since that is the side that is going down, and it would use the machines frame to hold it in place

Have you tried it with mild steel tube at all? Was thinking of buying this one for sanding a minimal amount to get to my line on the tube after cutting with a metal chop saw. I would prob not be removing a lot of stock but I don’t want something that’s underpowered for this type of work either.

I have. It was 2 inch square tubing with about 1/8 inch thickness. It did bog it down slightly when I applied pressure. It works well for the occasional metal project. If I was using it a couple times a week, I’d probably upgrade.

I found two issues with mine. The black piece on the side of the disc is so close that dust goes over it and not into the area for the vac pickup. The other is that the red end piece with the vac port. That is not a common size. Had a friend print me up an adapter. But anyway, at the top, the piece or end that is supposed to catch the dust when the belt is flat is not high enough to catch the dust, it just goes over it. So I made a piece of extension out of a plastic bottle and attached it to the end lip. I had to Bend it enough so that it wouldn't touch the belt when it's in the up position. A bit of heat and bending lightly fixed that. Now both catch the dust properly.
