Greatest rivalry in strongman history. If not greatest rivalry in all sports. In most sports when you compare the two G.O.A.T.s you can only speculate because they didn’t compete in the same era. These two went head to head so many times and were always so close. It’s not only impressive how much they pushed each other it’s amazing how much they pushed the sport. Because of these two professional strongmen today can have careers more like Brian and less like Zydrunas and still be financially well off. I don’t care which one is your favorite they are both the GOATs.

That was a brilliant year, also proves Pudzianowski was indeed an incredible strongman. People often discredit him due to the WSM and Arnold split, that year coming in second with the two greatest strongman and at the end of his career proved he also is one of the greatest strongmen.

@@09pietram it was a WSM and IFSA split, not WSM and Arnold. But yeah, you’re more or less correct with the rest.
Nice to hear Paul Pirjol mentioned. That kid was a phenom! Reminds me of other young overacheivers like Kevin Nee, Arild Haugen, etc...
Big Z as a dominant force ended with the 2016 asc win after hes injuries. But he was at the all the podiums there where from around 2002 and onward 💪 If you count total victories, records set and career span at the top of the sport there is no one close 🐏
It does seem like it could be impossible for anyone to match Z’s number of titles won. We haven’t had a repeat WSM winner since Z and Brian, and it feels like a different strongman tops the podium at each competition, even when the line ups are very similar. It’s an exciting new era

I'm sure the real reason they do it is because its more flashy to have the person who wins the last event be the winner. Kind of anti climactic to have someone win the event then lose overall. Random video request - as we're wrapping up this season, who are your top 10 in the world right now/who would you want to see in the WSM 2022 finals, no shenanigans in the groups etc.?
Please keep these coming! Older fans appreciate something like Phil Pfister vs Magnus Samuelsson. Their careers overlapped significantly, they were similar size, had similar strengths and weaknesses, & both had a single WSM win. Offhand I would guess that Magnus had more total wins in his career, but Phil may have placed above Magnus more times than Magnus above Phil.
I agree that the Power stairs should be used more for a final event. A good real heavy power stairs is a great event!
I think i might have that podium pic you need . Im emailing it to you . Great channel
Big Z always has to be considered the one and only GOAT, but Brian Shaw is so close in second place to him that much like several competitions between the two of them they're basically tied! Both are absolutely AMAZING athletes! That deserve a lot of praise!

Big Z has WON more competitions than Brian has even competed in... that's crazy to think about. I also couldn't help but notice at one point the tally was VERY lopsided in Z's favor. Only in later years did Brian start to catch up, which isn't surprising since Z was competing for 11 years before Brian even started.

Every time I look these things up on strongmanarchives, one thing stands out. There are 5 people who dominate the 'International wins'. BigZ, Pudzianowski, Hafthor, Brian Shaw and a guy nobody ever talks about. The only time I've ever heard you mention Radzikowski, was something about him being a cheerful, funny guy behind the scenes. He's the only other person with a 3 digit contest count and has won 22 of them. How come nobody talks about him? Is it because he always did poor on WSM?
@jimllbreakit8537

It’s likely he’s not in that goat conversation because the majority of his wins were in the Strongman Champions League, which became less prestigious over time to the point where I rarely see it mentioned online. They do themselves no favours by having very little social media presence and by making it difficult to watch.

Circus dumbbell is either even or else goes to Brian. Big Z is the goat at log press (and also beats Brian on most overhead events) but dumbbell is a different beast.
I have always hated the emphasis on the stones. It’s honestly made me resent them to a certain degree. Jon Pall in ‘88, Magnus in 1994, and Phil Pfister in ‘06 were some of the most memorable for me and all of those were before the whole Double Points, Stone Off etc etc Stone bullshit was implemented. I think it cheapens the sport.
The two 🐐 for sure!!
If we’re talking Worlds Strongest Man, Brian shaw has 4 clear wins plus a tie with Big Z, while Big Z has 3 clear wins plus a tie with Brian Shaw
Both these men have cemented their legacy as the best in the business, but for me, big Z is the G.O.A.T without question. And after that review, I imagine he will be.....come on Liz, altogether now....Very Happy! Interesting to see how many tournaments Mariusz did also, because I think now strongman fans are more conscious of the split and a lot of the talent were performing in IFSA he gets written off too easily. Let's not forget by how many points he beat his opposition while he was the WSM. And also, if the other guys thought they could beat him. Simple, turn up and do it.
Surprised how close this actually was!

I know they're both so good that neither is definitively better than the other buuuuuut my heart has to go with Z! For me, it's the fact that he broke so many records, the fact that he was such a static monster, the fact that he could have won even more WSM titles if he had competed more during the Pudzianowski era, the sheer number of titles he won, the fact that he didn't start losing to Brian until he was arguably past his prime, and the fact that he was such a dominant force at the Arnolds (which is just such a heavy and brutal competition)!
How many WRs do they have?
It is crazy to think Zydrunas always on the podium on most comps, either he wins it or not. And if he's not win he'll ended up in the 2nd mostly or 3rd place the least while others struggle so freakin hard to get the 5th or 4th place let alone the 3rd on podium xdxd. And Big Z still competing till now since his career in 1996, what a beast of longevity.
