You are right, my friend. I would recommend you look deeper into the history of Ali. During the Prophet’s lifetime he was the champion of Islam, their greatest warrior who was decisive in countless battles. But he was always a man of principle and morals first, never a conqueror. He sought peace even when it meant he did not achieve total victory. This life was but a passing thing for him.

Also the Prophet said, "Hussain is from me & I am from him". That also means that anyone shall not feel bad for what happened to Hussain. Because we're only the lovers of God. If feeling bad for something bad happened to a pious man is sinful, than do dare to say that Yaqup's crying for his son Yousuf was a sin (despite him being alive in Egypt), while the man referred here was killed/martyred in Prayer. I feel like the mention that a sizeable portion of Ali's army (In both Siffin and the battle of the camel shown in the previous video) were the rebels (Who would eventually become the Kharijites) who had originally taken up arms against Uthman and eventually had him killed is needed. Another point being that the three men who carried out the assassination attempts, were part of the Kharijite movement (The assassin of Ali having being a part of the Kharijite army who fought Ali at Nahrawan) and they viewed the 3 men (Ali, Muawyia and Amr) has heretics deserving to be killed. Also a small sidenote, Ali's son Al Hassan did assume the title of caliph for a short of time (and is considered to be the fifth rashidun caliph by some sources), but then ceded it to Muwayia, according to most Islamic sources to prevent further bloodshed in the Islamic world. It’s more complicated than people think. Ali didn’t agree with the entirety of the caliphs but accepted peace as long as it prevented bloodshed. The conspiracy of killing Othman was large and the enemies of Ali were involved. When Othman was killed it was the same people who had a hand in his death who blaimed Ali. Later the people asked Ali to be caliph and he refused to take the position if they consider him just another “fourth” caliph. But when Ali saw things going south he finally agreed to take leadership.

The Main reason as to why Ali faced so Much opposition was that he like the Prophets & Their Successors before him was on a reforming mission & at that point in time in History the General State of the Muslim Community was that it had gotten used to Wrong & corrupted ways in Matters pertaining to religion & worldly life. Here he embarked upon a reforming mission upon assuming the Office - which was his duty & this upset the status quo as well as vested interests because it upset a unity based on falsehood. This led to so much conflict & rebellion resulting in splitting of families with brothers choosing differing sides like for instance the 2 sons of Khalid-ibn-al-Waleed. Abd-ul-Rahman-ibn-Khalid-bin-Walid on Muawiyas Side & Al-Muhajir-ibn-Khalid-bin-Waleed on Alis Side - Brother fought brother. If he(Ali) Wanted he could have spared all this bloodshed by compromising & continuing with the corrupt ways of his predecessors, yet he gave importance to his duty no matter the cost. Hence Ali Earned such a Lofty Status on Facing such adversity in the pursuit of his duties.

Many historical inaccuracies in this video. Biggest one which I'll correct is that Caliph Hassan ibn Ali didn't give power to Amir Muawiyah due to any kind or pressure or threat, rather he did it willingly from a standpoint of utmost magnanimity and asceticism. He gives a beffiting response to the propoganda in his own striking words: "Al-Hasan said: “The skulls of the Arabs were in my hands, they would make peace with whom I make peace and they would fight whom I fight, I left it all to seek the face of God and to stop bloodshed among Muslims .” [Source: al-Baladhuri in Ansab al-Ashraf 3/49]

Thank you for the marvelous narration. I couldn't agree more with the content of this nicely and neatly made video. Nevertheless, it's worth mentioning , as a sunni muslim myself, that the vast majority of sunnies prefer Ali to Muaawya. They are even incomparable from religious ranking point of view favouring Ali of course. The sunni public and commoners, at the time , subdued to Mouawya for the greater good of the Islamic dynasty rather than a matter of personal preference since he had the upper hand and he hadn't challenged the Islamic doctrine found by the prophet , neither did Ali of course, plus not wasting human resources and man power on interior conflict. The way we approach this dispute is that this is entirely political not religious. It's safe to say that Sunnis are pro-Ali and would stand by Ali by basic sunni islamic teachings. However, one way or another, nowadays shiite muslims blame the whole issue on Abu Bakr and Omar Ibn Al khattab, long before the assasination of Uthman , as they believe Ali takes precendence in succeding the prophet over the former two. To make the long story short, we ,Sunnis, are by no means antagonists to Ali. To the contrary, if it were left to us , by sunni doctrine, we would have chosen Ali over Muawya. Thank you again for the mind and soul enriching work of history you present to your audience. My favourite channel on any social media platform.

I disagree strongly to your view on Muawiyah and Umayyads. He was the main person who changed the ruling style, from a type of ruling which chose the ruler based on his merit to a hereditary one. Not to mention, his and his family's approach towards non Arabs and especially non-Muslims was very controversial and racist at best. Interestingly, the only Umayyad rulers who moved from this approach, which to some extent had its roots in pre-Islamic Arabia, was Umar II, who ironically was poisoned by Umayyads themselves. The Umayyads used this approach as a way to extort non-Muslims by increasing their Jizya, which made them rich while making the other parts of empire poor. Moreover, they used this extorted money to expand the empire, in order to add more non-Muslim subjects (and making themselves richer), without any consideration towards over-expansion, something that concerned Umar I very much.

Great video But i would like to add a couple of points *The hadith that said "Ammar will be killed by the hands of the wicked band of men." is not "supposed" by pro-Ali accounts. Even the most diehard fans of Muaviya can't deny it, because it's written in the most authentic Muslim books. * One sad thing is that many can't understand that Muaviya didn't give a damn about Uthmans death and it was all just for the throne. They claim that Muaviya wanted "justice" for Uthman. But what they forget is that with "justice" he didn't mean the execution of the actual killers, who by the way, were already KILLED by Uthmans guards; but he intended to eliminate anyone that had the balls to oppose the corruption of his government. A method that many Muslim goverments will be following to this day. * Any one that think Muaviya had the right to "demand justice" for Uthmans death, doesn't know any thing about justice or Islamic law. Because chopping random peoples heads off isn't justice. And since Uthmans sons were alive, only they can demand the execution of the attackers. And they didn't because the killers were already killed.
