Few things: 1. Poles defended Westerplatte for 7 days, and last defenders of Hel peninsula capitulated after over a month of fighting 2. In Battle of Mokra Wolhynian Cavalry Brigade stopped advance of 4th Panzer Division. That day Germans lost 150 vehicles and 800 soldiers, and while Poles did suffer serious casualities as well, they were considerably lower than those of Germans (500 killed and wounded) 3. Warsaw capitulated in september 28 since situation of civilians was critical, and while Polish soldiers wanted to continue the fight, they lacked the supplies and ammo to continue their defence. This was not howewer the end of the campaign. The last battle that took place in 1939 was battle of Kock (2-6 october) and even though it was won by Polish Army, Poles had to surrender soon after since they had no food or ammo to continue the fight. In another part of Poland though it was the time when first partisan squads were formed, of which the most famous was the one led by major Henryk "Hubal" Dobrzański, which continued the fight all the way to 1940, when he was killed during the skirmish that took place near Anielin village. Until his death he still considered himself and his troops to be the last remnants of regular Polish Army from 1939 (even though "Hubal's" soldiers fought guerilla warfare, they fought continuously from 1939). 4. Romanians were not the only ones that helped Polish soldiers escape to the west. Hungarians did the same. Moreover, when Germans demanded Hungarian help during invasion of Poland, Hungarians stated that they will sooner blow up their own railroads than attack Poland, and that if Germans try to attack Poland from hungarian territory anyways, Hungary will declare war on Germany. During WWII over 100000 polish civilians found help in Hungary, where they could live safely. Overall though, the animation is a great job! It was worth of waiting.

@@historiakonkwistadorow6390 Battle of Krojanty was a different event. Cavalry squad under col. Kazimierz Mastalerz charged at unprepared german infantry. Initially it was a succes, german forces were caught off-guard and routed quickly, but polish cavalry that was chasing them was eventually stopped by armored cars and machineguns that were hidden nearby. Col. Mastalerz died that day, and Germans used that battle to spread the myth about polish cavalry forces charging foolishly at the enemy tanks. That was of course only german propaganda, polish cavalry charges were rare, and happened only when Poles were facing unprepared infantry, or cavalry (yes, Wehrmacht used cavalry as well, but to much lesser extend). The only exception that i know about was at Wólka Węglowa, but that was a desperate (and succesful) try to break the encirclement of Warsaw, and support it's defenders. Few hunderd soldiers of polish cavalry joined the defence of capital after that event.

About the hungarian help for poles, the sad part for me is that just a year earlier, they were both ready to go with germany into the war against czechoslovakia.

@@bundabunda7774 Hungary lost much during WWI while basically being under Austrian rule. Many of teritories given to Czechoslovakia had majority of hungarian populance. Treaty of Trianon wasn't fair for Hungary, since France wanted Czechoslovakia, Romania and Yugoslavia to be as strong as possible (as potential allies). That's why many ethnically hungarian lands were incorporated to neighbour states, and that's the reason why Hungarians allied themselves with Nazi Germany. Howewer, It wasn't an ideological alliance. During WWII not only Poles, but also Jews found refugee in Hungary (before 1944). And history of friendship between Poland and Hungary is almost legendary in our countries. During polish-soviet war in 1920 Hungarians contributed tons of ammo and weapons to help Poland, and they even wanted to send 30000 soldiers to Poland, but Chechoslovakia and Romania didn't agree to let them pass through their territory. During Warsaw uprising hungarian soldiers were friendly towards the Poles fighting for their freedom, several of them died fighting alongside polish insurgents, and when hungarian forces were present on polish territory, they often supported polish partisans and civilians.

@@matthaeusdecuiavia8637 I mean considering Hungary gave Romania an ultimatum just 1 year later and we just fought another war just 1 year after ww1 in 1919-1920 why would we trust Hungary to move a bunch of troops and military supplies trough our territory, but Romania also supplied Poland during that and both the goverment and a large part of the army went into exile in Romania and we refused handing them over to Germany

On the one hand, the Poles are brothers of the Russians, because Poland is a Slavic country. But on the other hand, Poland played Germany in the 30s. Soviet troops on the march in 1938 went to the Czech Republic, but Poland did not miss them, although it knew that the next country on the path of the Germans is Poland. All because she saw in the USSR not a country of communists, but a country of Russians - the ancient "enemies" of Poland. And so it turned out that when shortly When the USSR offered Poland a pact of mutual protection, it refused to think about some imaginary German "friends". The USSR had no choice - either Poland, or Poland leave full in Germans hands.
