10:48 - 10:52 Fun Fact: This scene is a reference during WW2 where a American Bomber plane was about to be shot down by a German Fighter Plane. The bomber had been damaged heavily with all of the gunners wounded, one dead from his wounds and one of the engines failing to start. The German Pilot ordered for the Bomber to land and when he refused he went behind the bomber about to shoot the bomber, however noticing how bad the conditions the plane was in, the pilot on the fighter decided to spare the bomber and instead accompany it to a nearby Allied Naval Base. The pilot on that bomber gave him a thumbs up to the fighter for sparing him and then the bomber safely landed in England.

Operation Overlord, widely mentioned as D-Day, was group up of 3 or 4 of the allied countries to attack Germany in occupied France. This was a battle that took place on June 6th, 1944. It included false radio transmissions, fake supply build-up, and inflatable tanks and planes. The Germans caught hold of these transmissions and sent a lot of their supplies toward the area where they thought was going to be fought over. The actual battle was taking place at Normandy Beach, about 100-200 miles south of where the fake target was. If they went to the fake target, they resistance would be much fierce and there was a possibility that the allies couldn't of captured the point. Point De Hoc was where the allies were going. The British dropped gliders made out of wood down into the middle of occupied France and American C-47s dropped paratroopers down too. Many American paratroopers got stuck in trees and most of the British gliders got stuck in trenches, tangled up in bushes, smashed into buildings, or crashed into stumps. Only a few were successful at landing in a field, and landing near their intended capture zone. There were bridges that needed to be secured into British and American hands which were fought over several times in a day. American ships were over the horizon as bomber planes rushed overhead. They missed their target and hit the fields behind the main forces. The Germans, who were not ready for the attack, quickly panicked and rushed to their stations as incoming shells from battleships were fired and managed to completely destroy many of the heavily reinforced concrete bunkers. These bunkers were littered with machine guns, rifles and sub-machine guns. This inflicted about 2000-4000 dead among the Americans. Landing craft sprinting across the waves come into view as the artillery and anti-tank guns start. The Flak 88s and 150s fired at the landing craft which blew craters into them which killed many. The beach was full of mines too. Mine clearing operations took place before, but because of Nazi influence and defense, only five lanes were cleared. About a third to half of the landing craft were successful. Once the doors dropped, German machine guns took the advantage and started firing. In fact, most of the people who died on D-Day didn't shoot a single round that day. Tanks were quickly destroyed by artillery and anti-tank guns. Snipers were a big issue and British medical bays were scattered all across West France like Legos. The Americans were able to get through the barbed wire with explosive charges and destroy the bunkers with hand grenades or anti-tank rocket launchers such as the M1A1 Bazooka. All of the artillery was destroyed and France was taken over from Hitler's hands. Operation Overlord was a success, and it showed the strength and power of teamwork. An estimated 5000 to 10,000 were killed during the battle. After the battle, the Germans quickly moved their supplies out of northwest France to go help reinforce Germany and Berlin. The USSR was already planning an invasion of Berlin, however. I hope you liked this article. It took me uhhhhhhhhh... half an hour.
Oh my god this is perfect! Perfect animation

8:51 note how different it was in the british landing sector compared to americans. The casualties were lighter because the tank support could arrive whereas the troops in omaha didn't have enough as most of the DD tanks were sunk.
Love how there is a MC Grunt as a German here 4:43

@@solarios9983 No Jimmy! R.I.P Jimmy (???? - 1944
The airborne assault into Normandy, as part of the D-Day allied invasion of Europe, was the largest use of airborne troops up to that time. Paratroopers of the U.S. 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, the British 6th Airborne Division, the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, and other attached Allied units took part in the assault. Numbering more than 13,000 men, the paratroopers were flown from bases in southern England to the Cotentin Peninsula in approximately 925 C-47 airplanes. An additional 4,000 men, consisting of glider infantry with supporting weapons, medical, and signal units were to arrive in 500 gliders later on D-Day to reinforce the paratroopers. The parachute troops were assigned what was probably the most difficult task of the initial operation - a night jump behind enemy lines five hours before the coastal landings. To protect the invasion zone's western extremity and to facilitate the "Utah" landing force's movement into the Cotentin Peninsula, the U.S. 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions descended on the peninsula by parachute and glider in the early hours of D-Day. The paratroopers were badly scattered. Many were injured and killed during the attack, and much of their equipment was lost, but the brave paratroopers fought fiercely, causing confusion among the German commanders and keeping the German’s troops occupied. Their efforts; hampered by harsh weather, darkness and disorganization, and initiative of resourceful Soldiers and leaders, ensured that the Utah Beach assault objectives were eventually accomplished. The British and Canadian attacks also accomplished their primary goal of securing the left flank of the invasion force.
wholesome ending, could not be more great,Good video

Me too man.. Me too..
The planes, tanks vehicles and especially the guns used were accurately depicted. Someone did some fantastic research even down to the metal "ping" when the American's M1 Garand was empty. Those Allied soldiers were so brave to storm the beaches knowing it was sure death to many of them.
I’ve heard that one of the British Paras assigned to capture Pegasus Bridge stormed the bridge by himself to try and find the nearest toilet as he need a wee
Awesome man
