One thing that's different about this Batman is he's much older This is a Batman that has already gone through every terrible thing you could think of. Including the death of Jason Todd, his Robin, by the hands of the joker brutally. In more than a few versions of comics this older Batman is a lot more brutal and doesn't care about killing quite as much. As for the whole Martha ordeal up until that point all Batman cared about was killing Superman. He didn't see him as human but when Clark was talking about save Martha and he found out that that was his mom at humanized Superman and kind of broke Batman out of his blood frenzy. I guess you could say. That's why he was more willing to listen to reason after that plus it gave him a chance to "Save martha" do something he wasn't able to do as a child.

Well said. However, I recall reading something a few years ago that Zack Snyder had claimed that the Robin that was killed in this universe is actually Dick Grayson. Hence why he’s a much more brutal Batman. I was enraged when I learned that because we all love Nightwing. Also explains why the original direction they were gonna take this Batman was a trilogy that would have ended with a Terry McGinnis Batman Beyond character after Batfleck “retires.”

The whole theme of Batman in this movie is powerlessness. He's beeen considered as a legend & even "the devil" by some people. Yet he couldn't do much when some things happen, like his parents getting murder & all he could do was just standing there watching them dying. Also during the Kryptonian invasion in the beginning. He lost his colleagues & employees & he couldn't do anything but scream & told them to get away. Also the death of Robin as well. That feeling of powerlessness over time is what turned him cruel in BvS until he was able to save Superman's mum. He didn't feel powerless anymore.

Batman doesn't kill people as part of his normal approach. He killed in Batman 1989 as part of Tim Burton's vision of a vigilante and in B v S he kills because of how many people he lost just by being merciful. He is older now and no longer has the sympathy he once did so he annihilates criminals.

The only thing missing was studio support. The 3 Synder films didn't have them either. If they just let him make his 5 film Superman arc, we would already be at a Superman for everyone. We'd already be into a direct sequel with a colorful hopeful Superman that we watched go through a journey to get there.

With Justice League, I recommend the “ Zack Snyder’s Justice League” (directors cut version). It’s 4hours long, but it flows well and is better than the theatrical release version. The theatrical version has a lot of things that don’t make sense due to Joss Whedon who took over after Zack had leave due to family issues. ☺️👍🤘 love your reviews!

Zack is KING of cinematography! This is my favorite superhero movie ever (yes more than Marvel). A lot of the unresolved mysteries like the “devil” Lex talked to before getting arrested, the demon coming from the sky after Lex flipped the painting at the end of the movie, the flying alien bugs in the future vision, that’s all set-up for the sequel Zack Snyder’s Justice League, especially the villain(s). The superheroes that join Batman and Wonder Woman are The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg (originally from the Teen Titans), and it’s a wild way how Superman comes back to join the Justice League (for better or for worse, like the future vision warned about) 👀 This trilogy of MoS, BvS & ZSJL I affectionately call “The Superman Saga” cuz it is truly epic in scope and scale!

The reason they were against each other is because they felt like the other was too powerful and went around unchecked. Batman didn’t like Superman because if he wanted to he could kill everyone on Earth and no one would be able to stop him (As seen when he fought General Zod). Superman didn’t like Batman because he was just going around killing and branding people (criminals) as he pleased and no one could stop him.

The first Wonder Woman was much better than I expected. And she is certainly one of the more badass JL characters. But where she SLAYS the other characters the most is with her theme music. When that kicks in right when you think its Superman blocking Doomsday but its her. Chills every time. Its better than nearly any theme in any movie or show. I think I only prefer the Stark music in GOT, Drogons theme everytime he blows fire in GOT, the Whisperer theme in TWD, and the Hobbit theme from the 6 movies.

A lot of people criticized the Martha scene but I always felt it made sense. This Batman is not new, he's fighting crime for 20 years, lost his sidekick Robin and became brutal. He's lost his way and the movie tells you that multiple times. Superman on the other hand is new to this world, humanity doesn't know how to handle him and he doesn't know what he should do because he got criticized by the media and people all the time. So both heroes see a threat in each other until the point where they realize there is more behind each one of them.

17:51 How did you not understand, it’s very clear Bruce holds Superman responsible for the damages of the “Man of Steel” fight, especially since his company building got destroyed and people got injured or killed from his building (which made it more personal) and doesn’t like the idea of someone with the power he has with the line “he has the power to wipe out the human race”, he looked at him as a threat to the human race, hence that wild dream he had. Superman was against Batman’s cruel methods of vigilante justice with the branding, which for some reason kinda of marked them for death in the prison they were sent to.

They didn't connect because their mother's name is Martha. Batman literally just found out that Superman, an indestructible alien, has a mother. Something that he lost. Batman just found out that Superman, an alien, has a HUMAN mother. Doesn't matter if she's not his biological mother. Batman treated Superman like a weapon of mass destruction up until this point. For the first time Batman felt Superman is a human. The fact that people still to this day think the fight pauses because of the fact that their mothers have the same name is insane.

So nice you guys enjoyed the film so much! One thing is that Bruce didn't stop because the moms have the same name. That was just the first shock. But what made him rethink things was that for him, Superman was just an alien. Never considered he would have a human mom and that he would be begin not for his own life but for his mother's. Batman was about to become a murderer and kill someone afraid of losing his mom. He stops as if he was saying to himself "what am I doing? I am about to become what I meant to stop". Oh, and in the post apocalyptic nightmare, he is using guns because, imagine how bad things are at that point that Batman has to use them.

13:41 The Dream Sequence in Batman V Superman is what many would call, the Knightmare Sequence. In the Knightmare sequence, Darkseid has conquered Earth after the League's failure to stop him on Apokolips. Darkseid took advantage of the league's failure to bend Earth to its knees. Later, he boom tubes into the batcave where he slaughters Lois and her unborn Child (Yes, Lois was pregnant at that time). Supes became enraged and Darkseid use the opportunity to make supes his right-hand man by using the Anti-life Equation. I got some Injustice: Gods Among Us and Injustice 2 vibes after hearing Zack explain this at a panel. Bats, Cyborg and the Flash lead a rebellion against Darkseid and Anti-life Superman since they are the only members of the League alive since Wonder Woman, Aquaman and many others were slaughtered on the League's mission to Apokolips. Bats gets killed by supes whilst Flash uses a cosmic treadmill to travel back in time to warn Bruce/Bats of the Impending failure of the Apokolips mission and the creation of Knightmare Earth. However, he travelled back way too soon so Bruce has literally no Idea of what was about to happen then. Flash would then travel to when the League was about to head to Apokolips. He manages to warn them but in doing so, the time barrier rips the flash apart. The League would then reconsider heading to Apokolips to battle Darkseid and instead, wait for him to make the first move. It is then at that moment when Darkseid arrives, the Largest and most badass battle in the History of the Universe begins on Earth. Amazons, Atlanteans, the Armies of Mankind and the Justice League against Darkseid and his army of parademons. Furious about his plans being thwarted, Darkseid attempts the same tactic he used in the previous timeline: Boom tubing into the batcave to kill Lois. Bats however, was prepared. So he manages to kill Darkseid but in the process sacrifices himself to save Earth. The Apokoliptian army retreats with Darkseid dead. Bats has a funeral and Superman names his child: Jonathan Bruce Kent. He named his child after both his Father and Batman to honor their Legacy. I'm so excited to see this play out in Zack Snyder's JL2 and 3 if the snyderverse gets restored. #Restorethesnyderverse

This is how reactions to the DC unvierse always are when you are introducing new people. It makes you think how much review bombing actually influences audience perceptions. I am a huge Marvel fanboy (so please don't take it like I'm taking a shot at Marvel) but my parents absolutely cannot stand Marvel. Like they can't even bring themselves to get through 10 minutes (and believe me I've tried). One day during break me and my sister were doing a DC marathon and my parents came down half way through Man of Steel. They ended up watching the rest of it, Batman vs Superman, and the four hour Zach Snyder Justice Leauge in one sitting with us. That might not mean much to you, but it's evidence that these movies have some level of inherent quality where the were actually able to keep the attention of two people who historically hate the genre.

Batman isn’t supposed to kill as that’s a core part of his moral code. He believes anyone can be redeemed, which reflects his belief that Gotham itself can be saved and his parents can be avenged. It’s a sometimes irrational principle that reflects his trauma, but it keeps whatever sanity he has in tact and makes him a strong moral character. It also has to do with him becoming judge, jury, and executor, which considering he already is a vigilante, would be a pretty problematic route to go; executions might be valid, but only through the procedure of law. In the comics, he states that if he kills one supervillain, the decision to kill would be too easy, making that a very slippery slope. Killings with no legal oversight. I think it would have been better for this story if Batman still didn’t kill, since his decision to kill Superman would be a huge character test; does he kill for his first ever time? Then the call back to his parents would be even more powerful and less goofy too since he would remember the core moral principles which made him Batman in the first place. It’s a nice rendition still.

Going to get alot of hate for this but Batman vs Superman lacks so much when you put it alongside films like Captain America: Civil War a pretty solid comparison with both films dealing with Superhero fall out and conflict, Civil War was just done so much better with the amount of development we had with these characters since 2008's Iron Man. The reasons for Batman and Superman fighting was not it for me, fights were cool sure and it's always a blast to see two iconic hero's go head to head but the film just lacked a reason for these two hero's to fight each other that made us go "Oh yeah that's a cool reason for them to fight". Remember when Batman and Superman first met in a strip club showcased in Superman The Animated Series? Good times. I have no problem with Batman killing but at least explore that element of the character more, yes Joker killed Dick Grayson (Dick Grayson died instead of Jason Todd like the comics) but for me that's not enough for Batman to break his no killing rule. Zack has even stated in Interviews that he looked up videos of Batman killing montages and was like "Yeah Batman kills all the time". Zack even stated that the comics he pulled from (The Dark Knight Returns) featured Batman killing, Batman did not kill in the comic book. There's even a scene in the comic where Batman is fully against using firearms and calls them the weapon of a coward after breaking a shotgun/rifle in half. Then you have this whinny Lex Luthor who is actually the son of Lex Luthor for some reason so idk what that's all about. I don't get why they didn't just use the actual Lex Luthor we know and love from the comics instead of his son, never really brought up as well in the film so people still think this is the original Lex Luthor. Superman's death was underwhelming, felt nothing when he past compared to the emotion I felt in Civil War seeing Steve and Tony fighting each other to Endgame. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 alone has s much more emotion than the DCEU films so hopefully that's something Gunn brings to DC. So yeah idk I just don't like Zacks take on these characters and the world of Gotham and Metropolis (Looks too similar to each other in these films) so my view of these films are just "okay that was a thing, cool action and cinematography." I did enjoy his Justice League for the most part but I was never that invested into his whole DC universe that the film wasn't as epic for me compared to some people who love his characters. if the death of Superman didn't make me cry then there's nothing he could've done to made me fall in love with his characters. Side Note: This film was a hybrid of Dark Knight Returns which features an older Bruce Wayne in his 50s who retired after the death of Robin (Jason Todd) by the hands of the Joker. This comic was set outside of the mainline DC continuity so Frank Miller had the freedom to create this possible future of Batman. Bruce Wayne then returns as Batman a decade later in 1986 a more brutal and matured Batman who still does not kill. He also fits Superman in this comic who is backed by the U.S government something not alot of fans liked turning Superman into a government tool. The suit Batman wears in this film is pulled right out of this comic and even his default Batman suit is heavily inspired by Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns. Then you have The Death of Superman set in the mainline DC continuity where Superman fights Doomsday. Side note Zack has stated that the Doomsday in this film is NOT the real Doomsday... That's my problem with this film it had too much going on with very little building up, Ultimate Edition fixed this a little. Would've preferred if they just did not include the Death of Superman elements and left that for another film down the line. On a final note I do love Ben's take on Batman visually at least. He's a great Batman and Bruce Wayne I just can't get behind him killing. Same problem I have with Michael Keaton's Batman. Love Batman 89 and Returns best Batman films from a visual standpoint and music but Batman to me does not kill. But I'll not stop people from enjoying these films this is just my view on the whole DCEU.

I am a Zach Synder supporter and you misunderstood his vision so I will do my best to explain. I read all of what you had to say to please read mine if you can This is Batman after 20 years, he broken and has lost his way. He’s accepted the fact that he’s a criminal, this is not the typical Batman which is why people don’t like this movie or batfleck. This no confirmation when Robin died and when Batman started killing but I believe he didn’t start killing until Superman fought Zod. At this point Batman just witnessed thousands(including his employees) die by the Power of this alien so Batman is full of hatred. “The fever the rage the feeling of powerlessness turns a good man cruel” “he has the power to wipe out the entire human race, if we believe there’s a 1% chance he’s our enemy we have to take it as a absolutely certainty and destroy him” lex Luther was also framing Superman so this movie had layers of Bruce v Superman, Clark v Batman, Bruce v Clark and Batman v Superman. Also the death of Superman would’ve kicked started the whole dceu. His death is what woke the mother boxes which would’ve lead to Darkseid coming to earth and kill Lois and turn Superman evil. This batman, after losing Robin to the joker, and a multitude of other bad things happening, due to his many shows of mercy, does kill. He doesn't relentlessly kill. But he does. The other versions of batman don't, except Michael keatons, I believe lol. But even in comics, batman doesn't really ever kill. This batman has lost so much, that he gave up on that stupid code. The Martha thing was a moment that humanized superman. He saw him as an alien, who invited chaos and destruction. But before dying, he was selfless, and only worried about his mom.

While I understand what the point of the whole martha thing was...I still think it was really dumb. Perhaps I just have a hard time buying that this hardcore and brutal version of Batman would be THAT thrown off by it, enough so as to pull a complete 180 almost instantly. I don't think its enough and doesn't make sense for this version of the character. Overall not a bad film but personally I don't rate it much higher than average. WW entrance is easily one of the highlights for me though :)

Although I feel like Batman and Superman becoming allies after their blowout fight was a little rushed, I do love their interaction when Wonder Woman shows up to help them fight Doomsday. Wonder Woman: This thing, this creature, seems to feed on energy. Superman: This thing is from another world....my world. Wonder Woman: I've killed things from other worlds before.... (Draws her sword) Superman (looks at Batman): Is she with you? Batman (looks back at Superman, quizzically): I thought she was with you.

It was not. A little attention toward the Wayne murder scene (which unfortunately people wave away as "just another Batman origin scene we have seen a million times") would be enough to know that Batman didn't stop because his mom had the same name, it was just a means. What the name's being the same did was trigger Bruce's PTSD (the scene deliberately emphasizes his dad's last line "Martha" to help the audience here), his most weakpoint that none of his foes (except probably Scarecrow through his mind experiments) would know. That's why you hear him scream "Why did you say that name?" You'll hardly ever hear Batman screaming, that's not his thing (it's one of the big issues I have with Nolan's and Bale's character, he's screaming a lot of the times). He thought the alien was messing with his head and at the same time not exactly how. He was breaking down. When Lois said it's his mother's name, he realizes that what he was doing and thinking about Supes was all wrong. It just takes you one word one line to trigger you or make you realize your mistake. You don't always require a load of time for it.

Looking forward to this one. 😊 This is one of my favorite DCEU movies. And I'm glad that you two watched the 'Ultimate Edition'. Loved seeing both Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck together in the same movie as Superman/Clark Kent and Batman/Bruce Wayne. Absolutely love Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther. And we get the first appearance of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. Hopefully you'll able to get the "Man of Steel" video back up soon. I was at least able to watch most of it before it was taken down. Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊

Batman's dark tone and willingness to kill in this one is baked into his history. At this point he's pretty much overcome every adversary in his personal story and he's already lost everything he personally cares about.

This Batman is definitely different in that he kills, 90% of the time Batman doesn't kill, it's a moral code he has which is why the Joker is even still alive.

@@TheEpicBuddies that’s a stupid rule because Batman should only kill villains who are killing innocent. Joker deserves to be decapitated. @@tmac731 What made the debut of Superman push Bruce to break one of his biggest moral code? Batfleck's adopted Robin was killed by Joker was not enough so why does Clark existing enough to trigger him? Also, killing villains are bad in Bruce's eyes because that's why his parents died, vigilantes and criminals doing whatever they want without repercussions. If Batman starts killing who he thinks deserve it, what's stopping someone else to do the same their own way?

@@TheEpicBuddies like I said, we don’t know when Robin died during the 20 years but Batman was already broken so seeing this all powerful alien just pushed him over the edge because he didn’t trust him. Batman wanted to kill Superman before Superman would potentially destroy the planet. Didn’t Bruce’s parents die because they were just getting robber since they’re billionaires? The killer of the Wayne’s doesn’t deserve to die but the Joker does. Gotham Super villain are Serial killers and they deserve to die. Not regular men who rob banks and steal cars. Peace maker said it best about Batman and his no kill rule. Batman killing in this movie made be respect Batman as a hero because I always though he was overrated and Christian bale didn’t make it better for me. Batman killing calls for better fight scenes anyway, nothing will ever touch the warehouse scene

Zack Snyder is an artist. It is sad that WB didn't let him do what he really wanted to do. He actually wanted to start the universe with multiple movies, inducing everyone. WB made him do it all in one movie and told him they wanted them to fight also. WB wanted to catch up with Marvel and ruined it. He still made a master piece with what he was given. Can't wait till you you watch Justice League Snyder Cut.

Let me clear up a few things. Remember how the movie began with the events from Man of Steel? One of Bruce Wayne's buildings was destroyed during Superman and Zod's fight, with one of Wayne Enterprise's top employees getting killed. Batman blames Superman, who was the last Kryptonian standing. And because Superman is a powerful alien, Batman views the latter as a future threat - one that must be destroyed. So does Lex Luthor. Both are being dominated by anger, prejudice and fear. Since the events of Man of Steel, Batman has been excessively violent - to the point of attracting Superman's attention. If you wonder if Batman isn't acting normal, HE'S NOT. That's the point of his arc.

Batman and Superman being at odds in this movie absolutely makes sense. The opening scene is literally Bruce Wayne holding Superman responsible for the destruction caused by his fight with Zod… and it only builds from there with the manipulation from Luthor.
