I think I read this in the New 52... can't remember. It's been a while and I'm WAY behind. If I recall wasn't this the storyline where Joker was using some chemical to regenerate from wounds and was actually hundreds of years old? When was this arc? I want to go back and catch up. 😀 By the way, GREAT narration and character voices.

​@tutumazibuko2510 It makes a lot of sense Batman is a guy of reason, and if he killed one guy, how much easier would it be to kill the next? Injustice Superman is a perfect example. Superman, thought to have been incorruptible, broken with his wife and unborn child murdered. Superman did no hesitate to kill Joker, and while he was going easy on convicts at first, he eventually started killing again, eventually killing Billy aka Shazam. The real problem, other than the writers constantly letting Joker get away, is gotham's justice system consistently letting Joker go to an Asylum instead of giving him the death penalty.

It was in his utility belt, you can see at 2:20 and 2:27 that he has it in his hand. How he managed to grab it in the split second between Julia noticing something and Wonder Woman smashing him into the ground is the real question. But also it is kinda weird he didn't just pull out a small breaching charge that he has been shown to have and just blow a wall to get out of the cell.

@@breadandcircuses8127 Part of the reason is that Hollywood has historically been terrible at maintaning long-running story-driven sagas, with the MCU being the biggest effort to subvert that, and even then, it's been on a downward trajectory after Endgame. In Batman's case, there's always something that messes us the current continuity forcing them to start over (executive meddling ruining the Burton-verse, the death of Joker's actor from the Dark Knight, the DCEU... being the DCEU), so there isn't enough set-up to really get into the weird interesting stories. At least we have the animated shows and movies.

@breadandcircuses8127 I know they won’t do this, but Imagine if the next Batman movie was a time skip to the court of owls, I just hope that if they ever put it on the big screen they accurately portray the Labrinth. That is what put the court above so many other villains even after only one time of them going head to head. No other villain, even the joker fucked with Batman that much on their first go at it. I loved reading through that run

Wonder woman crashes through reinforced glass and smashes Bruce into the concrete floor... Bruce's head, being a normal human, becomes a red spot on the floor. Comic fades to black. 🤣

You guys need to read the other comics, endurance enhancers have made him recover from a shovel stabbed in his torso. Batman takes multiple durability enhancers which numb him to pain. Even as a Batman fan I get that this plot armor stuff is getting out of hand but he’s literally one of the first superheroes and is a human. The writers will always make him the underdog and still win.

They always talk about his body breaking down, but he's still somehow magically functional. Even though his bones, tendons and brain take a lifetime's worth of MMA beatings every weekend. I guess it's like in Dragon Ball Z shonen power fantasy things - where strength isn't based on any internal logic. But the external popularity of the character. Goku gets to be a god, while Tien is a schmuck even though he shouldn't be. So Batman's super power is meta: He gets screentime in conflicts he has zero means to realistically contribute to. Because that's what the fans want to see.

Yeah, and it just kept getting more and more out there. The Joker can dominate the entire Justice League, and then he can start a zombie apocalypse, and patient zero just HAPPENS to be Joe Chill, and Joe Chill isn’t super old, for some reason, and the Joker is a force of supernatural chaos who has been around for the last 100 years, and bullets don’t work on him, and he can start fires by snapping his fingers. It sounds like something that would happen in Batman’s head under the effects of Scarecrow’s fear toxin, and they mention that he is under those effects when this comic starts.

The level of consistency with how affective kryptonite is, is really dumb. A piece of gum mixed with kryptonite was enough to knock out Superman? Really? I get he was hurt from the mini red sun gauntlets which is already fucking insane but the gum was just stupid. It’s almost as if the writer realized that if Superman legit didn’t care about killing Batman would be screwed.

Batman basically just has toonforce. It's like everyone else is wile e coyote and he is the roadrunner. Shame that some batman writers just have no idea what they are doing. The only legitimate reason he would be able to do these things at all in-universe is if this all took place in his mind while under the effects of fear toxin or something, but making that the ending is no better than "it was all a dream".

Nah, Joker gas doesn`t make you smarter or better at planning. Just as drugs - they numb out certain parts of brain and personality, so JL was severely nerfed there. Without the Joker gas they could`ve avoided about half of stuff he uses. Or maybe attacked all at once

And if he had time to actually prepare for an attack without rush, he certainly could make the fight without as much risk or property damage. But you cant prepare for everything, and noone could predict that Joker would suddenly infect the team.. In fact, how the f did he manage to do so.

Thank you for narrating these. These are amazing! As someone who maybe read 1 or 2 comics, these vids keep me in the zeitgeist.

Ok so, I know that Batman is all about rehabilitation and such, but at this point Joker has actively brainwashed other superheroes... why the hell did Bruce let things get to this point? I swear he's as complicit of all the pain and suffering Joker's causing as the Joker himself. It's making it annoying to follow some of these comics. I guess the old plot points and justifications just don't hold up as well anymore.

You'd think with how much Batman gets hit with some kind of gas weapon that he'd invest in a gas mask.

For the smartest guy on the planet, not permanently paralyzing the joker, putting him in cryrostasis, a medically induced permanent coma, a lobotomy,, or something of the like is just ridiculous. Some sort of permanent solution that still affords them life, albeit a poor quality life, but life all the same.

More like plot hole comics. Bruce is slammed into concrete hard enough to smash the concrete and survives. Dropped from a thousand feet and survives. Then the (master strategist) knocks Superman out into the sunlight recharging his powers. Then doesn't even finish the story leaving us hanging. This is what hack writing looks like.

This whole Batman story is just so much wanking. "Ooh, then he defeats the JL, then Joker shows up OH-NO, then OMG it's Joe Chill!!!" Zack Snyder's dog Wrote this after getting hit by a car. Effing Clown Shoes.

Captain America has more plot armor because the super soldier serum made him at peak human condition not actually super strength or other things yet he went toe to toe with gods barehanded where batman has to use tools and weaknesses to win

this is pure plot armor, he was already partially injured before diana slammed him into eh concrete ground, he should have died or at least been knocked unconscious then and there, also the entire point of the flash is that hes fast, he would notice the projectile being shot at the ground and not run over it, also kryptonite gum is the biggest ass pull I have ever heard of

End Game had such terrible writing. Batman gets crushed against concrete and is unfazed. Then goes on to basically win against the League, just to be caught off-guard by gas... How many Batman rogues use gas? Are you telling me the guy who is always prepared to beat gods, cannot prepare for gas?

She could have killed him by LEADING WITH HER SWORD when she crashed through his window. Then she could have killed him by SWORDING HIM instead of smashing his head into the ground (which should have killed a mortal man anyway). Then she could have killed him instead of FLYING WITH HIM AND TALKING ABOUT NOT LISTENING TO HIM. Sheesh...

It's Batman. he isn't allowed to lose in these things because people would start to question why he was in the league in the first place. after all when Superman is supposed to be hyper intelligent and Barry as the flash is supposed to be hyper intelligent and the green lanterns have rings that are more advanced and process data more efficiently than anything on earth, if Batman loses he becomes irrelevant.

Has anyone ever wrote an accurate Batman Vs Superman? You know, where Batman gets atomized faster than his brain even recognizes a fight has started?

An accurate Batman vs. Superman would be over in one page. No one would buy it. The best approach to the “Batman vs. Superman” concept was in the animated series. The two heroes teamed up to take on Lex Luthor and the Joker, and they clashed over the appropriate methods they should use to fight crime. By the end, they had arrived at a place of mutual respect and friendship.

So . . . Batman can take down the _entire_ justice league with barely breaking a sweat (except Superman, but even Supes goes down quick) but he cannot come up with a prison that could keep Joker locked up? And just how long did it take for Gordan to fire the gun?! Friggin' plot hole armor!

The argument that "Batman has no super powers" is complete nonsense. Batman has an unlimited bank account with no supervision and the strongest plot armor in comics.
