In most fights where Batman manages to put down superman, people always say its bc Batman is trained and Superman isn't used to trained fighting, just blind hitting but its not true. Even if Superman isn't shown to be Luthor level intelligent, in his own comics he's smart & resourceful and he's supposed to be faster than a speeding bullet. That is, no matter how good Batman's (or any other non speed fighter's technique) is, he should be able to dodge with that speed. Superman is just written to be an OP character, which is why he gets nerfed in in inexplicable way to make his opponents look better. It is sincerely one of the most underrated aspects to all comic book breakdowns overlooked time and time again. I personally think that is why Batman is so persevering thru out the ages of comic books. Batman is easily the "king" of the DC universe, let us be real. Superman maybe the strongest, but he isn't the most popular amongst DC fans. The only other "coupling" of men in comics that comes close, is Xavier and Wolverine/Cyclops (depends on the era, early on it was Cyclops, then later as Wolverine gained popularity in his own comic - * way before* the movies- and eventually took over the X-men). But later it was mainly Xavier and Wolverine, they wrote off Scott Summers into a love story and self-identity issues, as Wolverine exited that love triangle - weird times - .... Anyways I digress massively. Alfred and Bruce are the best " Father-Son" duo ever. With the elders knowledge helping lead the younger virile ones aim, to bring about *actual* justice. Because that was one of the other aspects that is seriously overlooked, Alfred insight and advice, and how much it overflows, or as acknowledge even outside of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Alfred is a cornerstone to DC , and to the Comic universe as a whole really. He is ONE of the most important characters in all of comic book history.

    My favorite part was the one where Batman is mad that Superman is locking up criminals in his private prison without due process, so he responds by kidnapping Hawkgirl and locking up Superman's allies in his private prison without due process. He stood by and let Manhunter almost kill Diana and conveniently neglected to mention this part to his allies, making it sound like Superman killed Manhunter for no reason. And worst of all, he let Harley on his team without batting an eyelid, like she didn't murder eleven million people. He's got a lot to say to Damian but he never says a single word to Harley. If anyone deserves to be locked up for the rest of their life, it's her. Yeah, Batman's a hypocrite. He'll rail about slippery slopes and justifications right up until he's the one doing it. Then all of a sudden it's perfectly excusable because _he's_ the one doing it.

Alfred has one of the saddest stories really. He knows the boy he loves like a son will never find happiness becoming Batman. But he lets his son make that choice anyway and helps the best he can. He watches his son descend ever deeper into darkness stopping just short of becoming the monsters hes fighting and he still cant help him so he just does the best he can. He watches his sons best friend turn on him and turn the world against him. Watches that dictator take his sons own son from him and murder his adoptive son. Sees the pain that causes his son and it nearely breaks him and STILL he keeps trying only to have his sons best friend attack and torture him. And FINALLY he gets to defend his son. And protect him. Instead of just having to watch it all happen. He deserves that

  • @MrOrcshaman

    @MrOrcshaman

    I feel something goes deeper then even that. Batman's code has been not to kill anyone, that he can contain and rehabilitate criminals, it's one of his greatest virtues and flaws, as someone like the joker cam never be redeemed, and in that sense its that code that let the joker keep living after his crimes that let him eventually perform the act that caused Clark to kill Lois. But in Alfred's case, who's been there all this time with Batman/Bruce as he upheld his no kill code, while Bruce believed everyone can be saved from themselves, Alfred saying "there's nothing worth saving here", is Alfred forgoing Bruce's beliefs, kinda showing how Alfred isn't flawed like Bruce, he doesn't have the inbuilt mental hangup about not killing. He could have killed superman, with the same force Doomsday did, he just decided Clark was beyond even trying to redeem. Let's not forget too, the joker was a psychopath and held no bonds with anyone, but superman made bonds with his fellow superheroes. He killed Green Arrow, someone who was his friend. That ultimately makes this superman more of a monster then the joker, because what monster kills someone they once cared for?

  • @michaelmurray8134

    @@MrOrcshaman Well that was kind of the point I was making. Alfred follows Bruce's no kill rule not because he agrees with it but out of respect for Bruce. But you're also right that it's his biggest flaw, and what made it worst was he stopped others from killing joker snd even saved him from dying even though he had no real obligation too and criticized others for killing Regardless for their reasons. He even had the audacity to try and reprimand Clark for killing Joker even after what he did and didn't even try to comfort Clark after what happened. No one can argue that Clark Was justified in killing him and no judge would dare trial him for it, but that should have been where it ended. Also the fact of him being a bigger monster then Joker is debatable. Sure Joker had no Meaningful bonds while Superman did, he mostly killed in his fits of rage. Joker kills just for kicks he believed life had no meaning. So personally I think someone who kills with no emotion behind It are definitely bigger monsters.

    Injustice is interesting because of how emotional it is. Just about every scene involving superman, you can find some way that it could all end. Some way that he could see the light and realize how far he's strayed. This was one of those moments, had Alfred not been so emotionally wounded. Superman had that moment of clarity. Repulsed by his own actions, torturing his best friend after murdering one of his closest friends. The calm voice of a common but wise man could have been the voice of reason and disappointment he needed to hear. Instead he got one of the worst beatings in the series. And you know what? It makes sense. All of these awful decisions are what happens when emotions rule your life. That's the point of injustice, in a way.

That Supes was so far gone in his own desire for self destruction he could and would justify anything. He might have a momentary pause when he realizes he crossed another line but he would keep crossing them. Supes was on a downward spiral. Maybe the only reason to keep him alive was so he could be brought to justice, not put down by vengeance.

It's the same as in the justice league when he breaks a device meant to provide power to the city of Metropolis that Lex Luther made, and his only reason is because Lex made it. He's always been an off the rails emotional time bomb, just this time he didn't have Lois to be his anchor.

    What people don't know is that Alfred is a beast! How do you think Batman can keep on top of his game? He has a sparring Partner who can stand up toe to toe with him. He can even fight Joker to a standstill. The only reason he doesn't take a more active role is that HE IS OLD! So he can't risk breaking a hip while fighting crime. And if you ask "What if he breaks a hip while sparring?" Simple his sparring Partner would recognize the injury, stop, call paramedics and say he fell or something.

    The major reason I didn't like Injustice was that it never addressed why Batman and Gordon allowed Joker to constantly commit murder, only to lock him in an asylum, so he could escape and murder again. Why wasn't the Joker ever put on trial and given the death penalty? I blame Lois' murder on Batman and Gordon. Injustice painted Batman as the moral authority for getting upset about Superman doing something that Batman should have done long ago. It also never addresses the fact that Batman had a plan to basically murder any member of the Justice League more powerful than him because he thought it was the right thing to do. In my opinion, Bruce Wayne/Batman was a lunatic.

    I love Batman and most incarnations of the character, but there are way too many writers disrespecting plain logic when it comes to integrating superman into other characters' stories. It's just a ridiculous thought that any human character (safe for the Flash perhaps) could do anything to Clark without him seeing it coming way ahead. In his advanced mind he could probably spend hours observing a regular person's fist flying towards him in extreme slow-motion. By regular I mean non-speedster.

  • @leon4000

    This is why I'm glad our Superman hasn't fallen to where Injustice Superman fell into. He impulsively started to lord over everything with his powers, causing so much pain and untold suffering even more to the heroes than he ever did with the villains. Even his parents Martha and Johnathan had to be shaken and disappointed in him that he's descended into a hated dictator who killed one of his former friends right in front of them. That Clark can't be their son as their thoughts must have raced during the deed. And Superman effed up big time when Dick Grayson died, and Damien fell into his ways. Alfred couldn't stand to see this once admirable person descend into someone who ultimately caused the loss of his family. And he let Superman know full force that makes what Darksied did to Superman in another universe look amateurish in comparison. In fact, Darksied would laugh at the fact that Injustice Superman allowed an old man to beat him down like that. Unfortunately, Alfred was slain by Zsasz, and would not be revived until one year after Superman's regime was defeated after events of Injustice 2. But until that point, some people held Alfred Pennyworth in such high regard that some heroes had a chance to point out how Superman got defeated by a butler of the world's greatest detective, and helped Batman and others have a fighting chance.

    @@arlwithac9285 mean, maybe, but a story where evil Superman appears and everyone just immediately gets shit on isn't interesting. Plus Batman/Supermans "rivalry" (Obviously it's always been more of a philosophical one then a physical one imo), would automatically dictate that Batman play a massive role in a Superman goes bad story no matter who was writing it. Which is what would happen in certain authors iterations of the man of steel. His powers fluctuate depending on the author, not all versions of Supes can literally fling the Earth into the sun. I think the story was written by a wonder woman hater, because she is easily the worst character in the entire injustice series.

    @@FantomPhoenix one thing that's hard to like about Superman is how fluctuating the writers are about his powers. The main Canon Superman is normally much stronger than these ones tho..it's why when there's a chance for him to show up and confront these alternate version of him he always wins. Same would go for red sun Superman which is vastly similar to this one.
