My buddy David and I met-up to fish for a few hours at a local impoundment yesterday evening. It was extremely shallow, maybe a foot or less in many places, but it still holds a remarkable amount of fish. Unfortunately 2/3 of my footage was the camera pointing at the brim of my cap... d'oh!
This short clip was compiled from the last 30 minutes of our outing. I had caught at least 6-8 bass by this point, mostly smaller fish in the 8"-10" range, but a few chunky 1.5 lb fish. However, both David and I would have blow-ups from some quality fish towards the end of the evening.
I fished a Z-man Finesse TRD in the Canadian Craw color on a ned rig most of the evening. I started fishing ned rigs a couple of years ago and have done really well with them. Z-man makes several sizes of this stick style bait, from the 2 3/4" version in this video to the 5 3/4" "Bang Stickz" baits for big fish. I think what makes them so enticing to the fish is that the baits tend to stand on their head and really do a good job of mimicking a small creature hopping around the bottom.
Finally, NSFW language. Sorry, but I cuss like a Sailor when I miss a fish (don't we all...?) 😂
