Basketball on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation | Trans World Sport

Спорт

Pine Ridge is home to over 30,000 members of the Oglala Lakota Sioux tribe. Covering an area roughly the size of the state of Connecticut, it's an isolated place of both majestic beauty and abject poverty. It's considered to be the poorest part of the United States with around 85 per cent unemployment and the average family income is little more than 6,000 dollars a year. When it comes to sport, Basketball is by far the most popular here, as it is on most Indian Reservations. Many tribes promote the sport and see it as a way of keeping Native youths away from the problems of drugs and alcohol, which blight so many of their communities.

wow! can't even imagine having to make a 100 mile round trip each day to go to school, which is normal for many of these kids. i had to walk 2 miles each way, but that's nothing. wasn't rich, but wasn't poor either. i would've never graduated if i had the obstacles these kids constantly face. but they have such strong spirits. they see humor in everything, and fight like true warriors to make it. mitakuye oyasin - we are all related. yes! we are all human beings and are in the struggle on this earth together. if everyone gives a piece, we can solve the puzzle.

We won state champs too. Very similar story. Unfortunately the star player died in a fatal car crash. He didnt even drink either. My grandpa told his mom to get blessed off. He went down to Oklahoma and helped take down a sacred ceremony that apparently only northern arapaho are supposed to do. His mom never had him blessed off so that bad luck took his life. America needs to know who we really are and hopefully help provide and give us more chance to make it in this world that shuns natives just for being native. Its not right. Theres so much talent on the rez. We need to stop animosity between ourselves first.

Humble. God hates pride. God resist the proud. Being proud is of satan. I hate satan. The bible says to obey God humbly. The old testament is the jewish faith and the new testament is the christian faith, the rest of the religions are false i know because i studied all the religions in the usa. The only true temple of God is only in Jerusalem over in Isreal, the holy land of God. I'm rich in knowledge, just cost alot of money to open and run all the businesses that i'm smart in in the usa which i don't have that kind of money unless God blesses me with money. God is the one who blesses people with knowledge to get wealth. All glory goes to God. Our God is very jewish. Jesus Christ our lord and saviour is king of the jews.
