Thank you for sharing the stories of your community. Would you be able to do an update with the youth in the video or current update? I think bringing awareness is good for healing and change. I speak as a mother who recently lost her son to suicide...if more people share their stories of struggle and SURVIVAL, this might save someone else. My prayers to your community, to all communities that are experiencing suicide as an epidemic. It was an epidemic on my reservation when I was growing up, I never thought I would lose one of my children to suicide.

in visiting the Lakota Nation such as rosebud, white river and pine ridge, i will say i truly enjoyed my time visiting the Lakota. they really treated me as family and i saw a lot of similarities with my tribe. the Lakota are a proud people from a strong and great tradition. the Lakota youth and other Native youth should see it is a blessing to be who they are. I visited years ago but never forgot my time there nor the people who i call friends or brethren for life.

Thank you Lakota people for enduring. I am so sorry for all of this. Thank you for holding on to tradition. Your time is coming again soon, I feel it in my soul. Now is the time to stand up, be strong again. Turn to old ways! Reject the B.I.A.! Reject the false monetary system! You are one of the true people, and this earth needs you! You can inspire other First Nations with your strength to stand up as well! Live with peace and love, we are one!

It brought me to tears to learn under what hard conditions those young people live. They are much too young to bear all this responsibilities. They aren't allowed to really be children, overburdened with sorrows and grief and very often no adult around to lean on. My heart goes out to them. They deserve better, yes.

I so believe it too that the youth are incredibly strong; I've had many suchlike moments - feeling totally alone, (seemingly) unbearable solitude, my own burden I had had to carry, this responsibility for another human being - it does crushes one, true. BUT, I also believe that you can be sure of at least one person who will always be there for you - you, but yourself. You can give up much, NEVER give up yourself. Be always there for yourself, want to win yourself, cos you can.

As a non native from California, I know I can't begin to understand the problems these people are facing, but when I heard that some houses have 20 occupants, I can see how this could be a major issue for the youth. We all, at times need our space; a place where we can escape and be alone with our thoughts where we can meditate and clear our mind of negative thoughts. But where is a Lakota youth to go to escape when he/she shares a home with 20 others? pitiful situation for them.

Fight your demons, challenge them, and you will not only help yourself but your friends and fellow fighters too. Give light for you might be surprised at what point in your life you'll be given it back abundantly. And yes, - I bet it must be great to be around you, guys. ALCOHOL makes people selfish and self centered. It's a problem unto itself. I have a hobby of collecting wisdom. I always remember who gave the wisdom to me . I think this wisdom applies to everyone who has love in there hearts ,not hate! WE LIVE IN THE SHELTER OF EACH OTHER. The great people in history all true heroes act out of love for one an other. NOT OUT OF EGO! THE wisdom was transmitted by Irish Central.

I want to offer my services. I will willingly give my time to do whatever needs to be done to help uplift the tribes of indigenous ppl all over this country. I want more then anything to see the Indian nations/tribes rise again, bring back ur culture full throttle. Healing will happen when there is reconnection to the earth, spirits, traditions, leave man made religion alone, our ancestors had it right b4 Europeans forced their religion on the tribes. I have not lost hope, I belive in the strength of the indigenous ppl n the strength of their culture, the beauty of it. Ik it's rough n being on reservations tht are run down with nothing to engage the kids in n parents on drugs n adults not taking the time to engage the youth can make it seem hopeless but ITS NOT! The government wants to see indigenous ppl dieing off, I do NOT, I want to see natives make a come back. I grew up in south dakota close to the wambalee reservation, my auntie is rosebud Sioux ive been to the reservations, I've seen how hopeless it looks and it hurts my heart to see it but I KNOW WE CAN FIX IT. I REFUSE to belive tht there isn't a place to start to fix the depression, and the problem. N I'd be more then willing to travel to every single reservation in amaerica to offer up my help in any way I can to see the day when the Indian communities over come alcohol and drugs n bring back their strength n drive 💪to overcome the bullshit tht the government did 2 their ppl n culture.

It took the peoples of europe thousands of years to move from being hunter gatherers to what they were in the 19th century. yet they expected the nations of native Americans to make the transition in a hundred years or so in the case of the Lakota. In a country with the wealth of USA it is an eternal shame that these problems exist. I wish you all well, although I live on the other side of our planet.

😢 I think if there are better opportunities and a better future for these people, then maybe, or even probably, it would not have happened. I will include the victim's relatives in my prayers and him as well, because the real blame for the whole thing does not lie with the Native Americans. Greetings

Alcohol doesn't cause depression - it's used to *escape* depression when your reality is intolerable. While it feeds into a cycle and certainly makes things worse, despair is always a response to some sort of poverty, whether it's emotional, cultural or financial.
