Understanding each of these components takes all of the guesswork and uncertainty away and helps to explain the hefty price-point for a completed system. yes, excellent- subscribed! i only wish i would have known 4 years ago about buying agm batteries that were the SIZE of lithiums, so that when i upgraded to lithium i could drop them in. ARRRRGHHH! i finally just wore out my agm's and got a couple battleborn lithiums. thing is, agm's are HEAVY, so back when i bought those, i thought i was being smart getting (3) 45# batteries that i could lift myself, instead of one i could not move on my own. built them into a custom, stand-alone box, worked REALLY well for 4 years... BUT! i just spent 3 weeks pulling my hair out trying to fit my 2 new battleborns into the space i had allotted during my van build for my 3 agm's.

Oh My Gosh! This! Every so often a keyword search turns up a real treasure! Hands down the best layman's intro to setting up your RV for solar I've seen yet. Began my solar adventure a year ago and most tubers give way too much detail resulting in analysis paralysis or drone on and on about irrelevant stuff. Now I have an improved understanding and vocabulary to build on. No longer will I get perplexed looks by calling everything connector doodahs, charger thing-a-mah-bobs and wire do-hickeys. Here’s to roof top dance parties and picking out movies without wearing pants. Looking forward to your next clip!! Thank you :)

I had to go to normal speed and I really appreciate the fact that you are delivering the information without a bunch of fluff. Seriously. I've watched a million of these 'solar set-up' videos and this was, by far, the best. Straight to the point!

Thank you. Great vid. You just earned yourself a new sub. I really like your idea about usb plugs for future-proofing the installation. One question: any suggestions for keeping the dang adapter in the cigarette-lighter socket? Mine kept separating so i finally duct taped the two together.

This was a great overview of the issues involved. Thanks. I have a boat that I am wiring up for a solar setup - and I'd love to hear the differences between van vs boat issues.

Good information on setup requirements and components for RV solar setup. Some RV's come with the USB charge ports installed in some of the AV outlets. We found some plug-in adapters which have the 12V barrel connector so that we can upgrade the USB chargers to the latest style/type. They are inexpensive and if you get a good quality brand they should last for years. Thanks for the video.

I remember watching this video in the past and I felt so stupid - about 6 months later - I understand pretty much everything about what you talked and I can relax and laugh at your humor! :'D

Your awesome man!! 🙏 I’ve been building power systems for ambulances, military vehicles, border patrol hybrid generator solutions etc and I have to say; I am very impressed with your videos and knowledge share. I’m trying to do videos on my channel and gained some ideas from you. I cannot make videos like yours and talk about it like you did. Great job 🤙 I have a lot of references and resources that may be able to help us in our future builds and videos. I am encouraged and ready to start focusing on making videos like yours to help other people understand. Thanks for sharing. Damian

Great video, no BS! I needed this concise run through. I was able to take screen shot, hopefully meaningful, when it's time to put mine together, of each component! Makes for easy shopping, and pictures are worth a thousand words! I really appreciate this information. No one else did it this well! I have no idea why 335 idiots thumbed this down, unless they disagree with a choice, or got ripped off on something, which did not work, that normally does.... hum. That's weird! Thanks Giovanni

Great video. But as seems to be common with vanlife stuff, there is a bit of a disconnect between what is in use in other realms. IE. Carbon foam or lead carbon batteries, such as those from Firefly (popular in the boating world). Currently they offer many of the advantages of lithium (specifically DOD) at a lead acid price. Certainly a great option for those just building out and until lithium becomes reasonably priced.
