    Just got my used Note 8 last week, Jan 2020! Had to sell my iPhone 11 and i loved that phone but this was only $150 and its not at all a huge drop off like i was expecting it to be. Starting to work with and then master the outdoor, very low light....iso 50 and apature or whatever to 10. Seen some vids on that and they look sick! Excited and thanks for a great sounding and well put together vid!

  • @Sheevness

    @Sheevness

    4 жыл бұрын

    Are you talking about blur as in out of focus? Or light trails at night? Food mode focuses just in the center and blurs the rest. Changing the shutter speed will give you light trails at night, or getting shots of the stars. You change this in the shutter icon. Slide it to the top where is says "10" and you will get great low light photos.

  • @BrentHall

    @BrentHall

    4 жыл бұрын

    Are you recording in pro mode? It sounds like some part of the exposure might be in auto and the metering is changing the reading during the recording. You might try making sure everything is in manual if you have pro mode or a 3rd party app, or if you're in the regular video mode, you can try holding down the AF/AE button for a few seconds to lock it in to what you set so it won't change during recording. Don't know if that'll help, but worth trying maybe.

    Hi Brent. I like your style of explaining how things work. I understand it. Ty. I was wondering why I don't have a shutter sound on/off button in the settings. I'm thinking it might be that you have an international version. I live in Wisconsin and have the U.S. Cellular version. I take a lot of pics of my cat. She knows what the shutter sound is and can get annoyed. I can turn the volume down. However, by then the moment may have passed. Any suggestions? Thank you. And I think your cat is adorable and like that you left that in. The cut scene at the end made me giggle.

    Thank you so much Rachel, I'm glad it helped! I do have a mic recommendation. I use the Rode VideoMicro with my phone, as well as a B-roll mic for my bigger cameras. The link is in the video description, and I also have this review of it here: kzread.info?o=U&video_id=93OJlAdVvfw It's a bit long, because I did a comparison, and put some in-depth audio editing stuff in there too, but the first part is all about the VideoMicro.

    Sure thing! Rode also makes the Video Mic Me, which is the same mic as the VideoMicro, but it mounts straight to your phone instead of on a hot/cold-shoe mount. Might be worth checking out if you're looking for an easy/simple mounting mic for the phone.

    Great video.. everytime I try to record a slow-mo when at home under white light, I see some lines passing through and the quality of video is ruined.

  • @BrentHall

    @BrentHall

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! I think that may be due to the fact that in slow-mo it's shooting at 240 frames per second, and if you're shooting under a fluorescent (white) light, they usually have pretty bad flicker, and the higher your frames per second, the greater chance you have of recording that flicker in the video. That may be what you're seeing. There are higher quality lights that don't do that, but they are much more expensive.

  • @BrentHall

    I haven't messed with the front camera too much, but I have been happy with it's quality from the shots I took, and yes it does have a flash in front, but it's not the same as the flash on the back camera, it's more like the whole screen goes white to light up your face and it's not as harsh.

  • @BrentHall

    @BrentHall

    2 жыл бұрын

    If your images are blurry then you need to increase your shutter speed, which unfortunately means you'll probably have to increase your iso a bit as well, which will create more noise in the image, but I'd rather have a nosy image than a blurry one.

    So when you're taking pictures or recording video in full screen the resolution decreases? How much? Is it that noticeable?

  • @BrentHall

    @BrentHall

    6 жыл бұрын

    In the settings, if you set the picture size to the full screen 18:5:9 it says it drops it to 9.1M and puts the resolution at 4032x1960. So that's about a 3M drop in image size. I believe this happens because the actual sensor size is in the 4:3 aspect ratio, so any time you change the aspect from that, you are effectively cropping the image. I don't think the image quality differences will be noticeable on mobile/social media platforms in most cases, unless you are cropping in on the image even further in post, or you are wanting to print bigger than an 8x12' or something. Recording video in the full screen won't change the quality from whatever you have it set on, so if you have it set to full UHD, then hit the show full screen button on the phone, the phone will show you a full screen coverage, but will still record in the UHD size and aspect ratio.

    What kind of Tripod are you using? or what kind would you recommend for note 8?

  • @BrentHall

    @BrentHall

    6 жыл бұрын

    I use a few different tripods for my phone, depending on what kind of shot I need. The one I'm using in the video is my Benro Travel Angel. It's big enough to hold a full size DSLR, but still small enough to not look ridiculous with the phone, plus it gives me height. I also use my Joby gorilla pod because it's super sturdy and flexible. And sometimes when I want to go ultra portable, or just need something for a table top or something, then I will use my little Benro PocketPod. They all have different purposes and are great for certain things. I have the links for all of them in the video description if you want to check out their specs. The PocketPods and the Gorilla Pods are also great to use as handles as a makeshift gimbal. They will help to slightly stabilize your handheld footage for vlogging and stuff like that. The tripod mount I have is also listed in the description and can be mounted to pretty much any type of tripod, so something like would also be necessary, but there's lots of options for those.

    Sure thing man. I haven't had any issues with any of the tripods I use. They all do great, especially with that tripod mount I have. One of the reasons I picked it is because it's not spring loaded, you actually have to tighten it down, so you know it won't come loose and let your phone slip out.

  • @axumlalibela618

    Joelster G4K That's weird. I've never gone below 4K. Sucks that there is a limit of 10 minutes. Maybe it's in the settings?

    You have to record in QHD setting for camera. When you do that there is no time limit

    why the video length is limited to 10 minutes?

  • @BrentHall

    It's something that Samsgung implemented for some reason. Not sure why. Possibly to play it safe in case of overheating. It's odd that it seems to only have that limit for the 4K and 1080 60p , but the 1440 is unlimited. You might try using a different camera app and see if that will work?

    For sure, this video definitely isn't for people who are already accustomed to Samsung. I was pretty surprised when people kept asking me to make it, but I'm trying to help people, and to build an audience who can learn and grow from every level. I can't please everyone (see your first comment) and if I didn't force myself to have thick skin, getting a comment like that would have likely caused me to consider quitting. I'd much rather be doing tutorials of advanced stuff like setting up motion controlled "holy grail" day-to-night timelapses for dslrs, and how to do crazy stuff in After Effects, because that's where I'm at, but very few (comparatively speaking) others are at that level. So because I want to be and enjoy being a KZreadr, I have to do videos that people want to see, and more people want to see this video than people who don't. But hopefully they'll learn and grow and this will help them move to the next level, and I'll have videos waiting for them, until one day they're as comfortable with the basic stuff like this as you and I are. Thank you for the reply, I do appreciate it, and I will try to cater to people of higher skills levels as well, it just takes time, because making videos is pretty time consuming.
