Saw all the cheese fall off and lack of crisp and thought it was a 7.1 for sure. Everyone knows his score shouldn't be trusted at this point anyways.

Da Legna is definitely more than a 7.4. It’s fantastic. There’s no NJ or NYC scale, why New Haven? Kind of silly.

Scores shouldn't be downgraded just by virtue of being in the same area as a bunch of other elite pizza places. It's like the equivalent of giving Kyrie Irving a 78 overall 2K rating because he plays on the same team as KD and Harden

Dave I’m a big supporter of yours but this new haven scale doesn’t make any sense. You rated Sally’s, Pepe’s, Modern, & Bar on the normal scale.... what would these other new haven spots be on the normal scale then come on

Keep the box closed as long as possible to get it nice and soggy and say “I’d like more crisp”. Everybody knows the rules, Dave doesn’t learn.

I’ve been preaching the day trip since the early 2000s. It’s insanely good pie down there.

I grew up 20 mins north of New Haven and had all the hot joints growing up. Never knew how spoiled I was. But pizza never has been the same. He is right ya'll.

This new Haven scale blows. Just rank it normal

Anyone gnna mention the no cheese bite rule? We should start rating his rating. I give this a 6.6

Da Legna is at least an 8. These recent scores make zero sense. If he re-reviews Sally’s it’ll be in the 8s instead of the 9s like it was.

Try Lameglio Pizza in Plano TX.They get water shipped from NY to make their pizza dough.Everything made from scratch.They also have a sign outside that anyone who is struggling can stop by for a free pizza they fed over 500,000 people free.

De Legna (DEY leyn-YA) has been around for way more than 2 years. They used to be further north on State Street (closer to Modern). They moved and added the 'at Nolo' thing. I considered this pizza the best in New Haven before they moved. Receipe changed slightly I think. Too bad Dave didnt get to try it before!

I live in New Haven. I prefer Modern. Abates definitely fell off. Sally's and Pepe's are good but overrated in my opinion.

Bingo. Any pizza can be crispy or floppy depending on how long you cook the pizza and if you put it in a closed pizza box. To really know if a pizza is good, he needs to go in and sit at a table and eat it off of a pizza tray. Pizza changes once you place it in a sealed box due to the steam.

Thinking of making a New Haven pizza trip. Is really that tough to get into the big 3?

Not on the week days. The weekends are a little rough. New haven also has a few colleges so if they are out it’s faster.

the key to the best new haven pizza is never leave the box shut to "sog" the pie,>>. and if you can get it heated/crisped by the slice: bada-boom!
