It's great to see the mutual respect and admiration these two have for each other, and how it's carried on throughout their lifetime. I can't even begin to explain how much 12 year old me looked up to them.

I went to the OU Spring Game when they had Bob Stoops' statue dedication ceremony. When the ceremony was over, Barry Switzer there was sitting in chair up by the podium just about 25 ft from where I was. I was thinking "WOW! It's the King! I got to go shake his hand." I started walking toward where he was sitting and he saw me approaching and stuck out his hand as I got near. Special moment. Hope you get yours.

I was with Switzer 1977-1981, He is the only coach that truly has a personality, after Switzer, the coaches shows & interviews have been GAWD AWFUL!

Was this interview really done just 4 months ago? If so, Switzer looks pretty goddamn good for 85. Hell, he looks better than a lot of people in their 50's and 60's.

This interview was filmed when Coach was 83. He does look great and sharp as a whip! Remembers everything. He is really amazing and inspiring to be around.

@@BLWGuitar I had the fortune and honor of eating dinner with him 10 or 12 years ago. My wife's dad, who played for Switzer in the 70's, was in town because one of the coaches from that era had passed away and he and Switzer were gonna go to the funeral together. I drank wine with Coach as we watched a football game on TV (I can't remember if it was college or NFL); it was fascinating to hear him talk about the intricacies and details of each play as they happened. As a life long OU fan it's one of my favorite memories. When I was a kid in the 80's I dreamed of playing for Switzer at OU...of course that lead pipe pipe dream never happened...lol

Yeah basketball is one of those sports if you don't hit the genetic lottery for height you're kinda shit out of luck no matter how good you are. They're are exceptions but those exceptions are guys who could have played any sport professionally.
