You are an amazing art teacher. I learned so much just by watching two videos by u. Please make more classes on various other techniques and fundamentals. They are so well made. And ur presentation is lovely. [just one small suggestion: please check the audio. it sounds weird...i think it needs to be stereo and now it is mono....may not be right...but it feels like it is] Thank u so much. This is a game changing class for art students, especially self learning ones like myself. Have a beautiful day. :)

Thank you for your feedback! We have two additional classes in the works, and are making a concerted effort to address the audio issue. You may also want to check out an additional class in our store at www.davinciinitiative.org/store/p21/Introduction_to_Advanced_Observational_Drawing.html

Notional space boxes and checking measurements on the other side. Maybe using vanishing point helped ancient predecessors could have used for faster mass production. Its just a theory.

Fantastic videos. If you do not mind, I would like to refer my students to them. Would love to have seen an actual plum line (weight and string)at least shown. Could it be used with the skewer stick as back up check for accuracy? Lastly would love to hear some comparison between notational space, enveloping and follow through lines with grid technique. Thank you so much. Planning to take a class this summer from your institute!

does it matter if I put my plumb lines before my envelope?

It is curious that you discuss plumb lines, but you don't actually use a plumb line. Is it not useful to have an actual one to check verticals? I recall seeing photos of people using sight-size to draw portraits from life (it might have been Sargent, or maybe it was Darren Rousar, don't recall) where they had a dowel coming out horizontally from the top of their canvas and a plumb line hanging from it to check these things. Glad you chose the arm to demonstrate, btw. I have worked my way through the hands and feet sections and an arm is next, so it is nice timing.

Yes, it is a very helpful tool to actually use a plumb line when you are drawing Bargue plates as a check on your work. This allows you to check the vertical alignments in many areas instead of just the ones Bargue particularly notates in his plates. However, I do think it is important to study WHY Bargue places his plumb lines where he does. This is because a lot can be learned about how to find efficient and effective places to drop plumb lines which is a very useful skill.

Is it normal to creating the envelope taking two hours? For other plates not this one.

Creating an accurate shape takes varying amounts of time. The important thing is to not move onto the next step until you are confident in your envelope shape. If your big shape is off, the rest of your drawing will be off.

These videos have way to much talking and not enough drawing. Enough with these lines already and just draw for a bit. So discouraging.
