I have just subscribed and joined the ranks of the very grateful on your channel. I don’t know what algorithm I had to activate for you to finally come up in my feed but I have to tell you. I was about to give up on the whole idea or me, a beginner, ever being able to tackle Bargue Study. I have listened to what must be 100 hours on various instructors (well meaning though they may have been) totally confuse and frustrate me on how to approach Bargue. Leave it to smart sensitive WOMEN to get the job done. I have had the same experience as a music teacher teaching kids who had just given up on ever learning an instrument! So I send a teary eyed thank you to you. I look forward to completing this course and actually gained the simple skills needed to draw with accuracy and skill! As a seasoned teacher, I know you know what a priceless gift that is! 🥰

I’ve seen this procedure used by other artists but I didn’t fully understand the references they were using because most were using time lapse drawing without sound. You’re explanation to carve out smaller areas makes it clearer to understand this much better. Thank you so much for sharing these videos, and they’re so helpful in developing my drawings now. Best wishes❤️🌹

Really like your teaching style! I got a book of the casting plates and have been trying to piece together how to do this and got kind of stuck. Came across this and now I feel like I’m getting it. What a valuable thing You have put out for us. Thank you

Thank you so much for making these videos, they are well organized and a great resource when starting the Bargue drawing course! What do we do if we are drawing from life, and we don't have a notional space box around our reference? how do we keep getting the same precise measurements.

Great series! Thank you so much for this! I´m a beginner starting out with the profile bargue platues. I suppose these concepts work for the more simple ones as well. Thanks a lot

Are the techniques for creating notational space, envelopes, etc. part of Bargue's methodology or techniques developed by the Da Vinci Initiative in support of the Bargue techniques?Thank you for this series, I am strongly leaning towards following it this summer.Richard T

Hi Richard, the answer is that it is a little bit of both. The instructor is atelier-trained, but is also trained as an educator and chooses to break the material down using a notional space/envelope/follow-through line method. All ateliers tend to approach Bargue plates in their own way. The methods taught in this video series are not the only way a Bargue plate can be done, but it is one way that the instructor has found to be effective for explaining complex visual information to students that do not have access to an in-person instructor.

Thank you, At first it seems overly complex but as I begin to use it, I find it help with line - object relationships.

In the last lesson you said if you had 8 to 10 lines you would be overthinking it but now we have that many lines ?
