You are welcome!
It seems impertinent for me to say, since I've only just done my first Bargue plate (I,1, the eyes) but I think your knuckle triangle looks skinny because the mark at the top of the notional space box is a little too far to the left. But the main thing I mean to say is that your explanations and demonstrations are so helpful. I'm loving learning to draw from zero, making good progress and feeling confident that I will continue to improve thanks to your lessons Mandy. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
great lesson ty .... it took a lifetime to draw Briareo thsi way..
I understand extending the lines until it hits the notional space box, but it isn't clear to me why you don't consider the four smaller rectangles as their own notional space boxes. You also get accurate horizontal and vertical distances if you just extend the line until it means sides of these four smaller boxes, do you not? Analogous to using the grid method. Or is it that, by extending further, you are magnifying any error, making it easier to spot?

Finding notional space boxes within a larger notional space is a perfectly valid way to organize visual information. When doing this, however, be careful that you are always relating the smaller parts back to the whole. It does very little good to have a perfectly rendered finger that is the wrong proportion to the arm for example. Extending lines is a way to help train your eye to always be relating the area your are focused on to the whole and helps eliminate proportion errors in drawings.
wow this is gold.

Thank you!
8:07 how did i already have that line drawn lol, i think u mightve erased it earlier?
why not use a chamois cloth to erase instead of an eraser?

It is my experience that I have less control with a chamois cloth than with an eraser. However, the method of adding or subtracting charcoal is less important than the accuracy of the result. If you are able to achieve accuracy using a chamois cloth, that is great.
So u specialize in bargue right? Cos its the method that I wanna commit myself to and I would love this journey with u so please don't disappoint me,
