A once in a lifetime talent.

When someone asks me why I love Barbra Streisand, I show them this. Afterwards they usually say "now I get it".

She is an instrument all unto herself.

She’s a oscar, Grammy, tony and Emmy award winning icon. Barbara is absolutely magnificent ❤

The one and ONLY....

There have been so many truly excellent female singers throughout the decades, but Streisand has all of their vocal attributes + a lot more. She truly is a phenom.

Beginning at 6:43 through "...still in love with me". That is magic that is Streisand. She is immersed, living the song.

There's never been anyone like my Brooklyn girl, Barbra Streisand. Singer, actress, writer, director, producer...she has done it all, and all at the highest possible level of skill and outcome.

Beyond exquisite!

She's a national treasure. Never will be another.

I love to see younger people and their reactions when hearing Barbra Streisand sing for the first time. My father bought her first album in 1963 and since then, she has been a part of my musical life. The only disadvantage I had growing up with Streisand in my house is that I never really gave any other singers a chance. I always compared them to Streisand which is unfair. So, like your journey in discovering Barbra Streisand, I am on the journey of discovering her contemporaries and finally giving them the chance that I deprived them and myself for so many years.

This perf is from January 1971 on "The Burt Bacharach Special" and is on her September/October 1971 album "Barbra Joan Streisand"

I own every single song of hers and I am so glad he got to see and hear her best performance. There is no greater performance...from her or anyone. I see you flinching many times. That is what she does.

Perfection. No autotune needed. You should listen to her duet with Judy Garland singing their two hits "Happy Days Are Here Again" and "Get Happy" simultaneously!

wow, what a song. i did not know this song. She is one of the greatest singer in the world. The special thing of BS is, she acts the music. That is why we love her so much. It not only her perfect pitch and voice, it is the emotion, she puts in every single word. This brings singing to live.

My adult kids can’t understand my admiration for Streisand. I tell them that this is real music, and Streisand was right up there as a unique singer with Ella, Aretha, and Judy.

The Problem of your kids is, they do not understand singing well. Sure there are today great female singers out there. But i do not know anyone, whlo sings in all the registers so clear, melodic and in pitch like her. Even Beyonce, Adele or Christina Aguelleria or Jennifer Hudson can not sing like her. They are compared with ohter todays singers the cream of the female singers, but for me no one can sing like Barbra.

You used the word at least a half dozen times during this reaction..."Wow!" Barbra brings out the Wow Factor like no other, for all the reasons you described. I have been listening to and seeing some of the all-time greatest performers in the past 60 years, and no one, still to this day, brings out emotions and tears like this woman. You're right... it's theatrical a bit, but not Broadway-ish theatrical. She just goes deep and oozes out the lyrics as if she's just lived them. Very few artists truly stay in the moment of a song... she does, which is why she has never and will never lip-sync a song. I do hope you'll eventually delve into her catalogue more deeply, after all, she's right at the top of the charts with the most #1 albums ever along with The Beatles and Elvis, and was the only woman up there too for 60 years, until Taylor Swift just tied her last week. She's a national treasure for sure, not only here, but worldwide. May I suggest for now and next the film version of the closing scene of Yentl, "Piece of Sky."

I love when the new generation finds Barbra, their always amazed, they only know her as a funny girl not THE VOICE.

I highly recommend a Streisand song called I Never Has Seen Snow, from 1973. It's a masterclass in acting a lyric.

Yes! A gem. I love that song.

Good choice to review. This video is from the 1971 Burt Bacharach Special which was on CBS. She sang it live on the soundstage probably without an audience since the video is multi-layer with video overlays. She was nominated for an Emmey for her guest appearance. But didn't win. The show was produced and staged by the same group of folks who had done her My Name Is Barbra and Color Me Barbra shows in 1964 and 1965. It's nice of the copyright owners allowing this on YT. It's a masterpiece - the dueting Barbras.

Ms. Streisand whom I love once said she was an actress who happens to sing. With all due respect Ms. Streisand you are a SANGER who has a comic flair for acting. Where did Barbra EVER get the notion that she was FIRST an actress then a singer??? Her voice is a God-given talent!!! Her acting while certainly above par does not even come close to her magnificent vocals!!! For heaven's sake does anyone else agree???

I agree her voice is God given and she is probably the best singer of the past 65 years, but she is first and foremost an actress. This performance doesn’t happen with just a singer, it happens because an actor made acting choices that 99.9% of “singers” have no understanding about.

I’m huge Zane Lowe fan and he interviewed Ms. Streisand last Sept a really great interview Zane is awesome and she said she acts out her songs because she couldn’t get an acting gig. But it works obviously - whatever she wants to call herself I’m sure is fine with the world

Marvin Hamlisch (who wrote her song, "The Way We Were" and so many other hits) once said, "There are many great singers, and then there's Barbra!"

Ive been waiting for someone to react to her singing this song. She kills it has every song she sings. Thank you.. And I fo like the 5th Demention version akso.

I am grateful to Barbra for what she said after the Violetta Villas performance. She said "she was the best singer she have ever meet."

She wasn't considered a beauty, by Hollywood standards. However, her talent was so overwhelming she couldn't help but make it. EGOT winner (Emmy, Tony, Oscar and Grammy). I think she was a very exotic beauty.

This is the music we grew up with, no swearing, no skimpy outfits, pure sublime singing!!! ❤❤❤

I was one of (I think) a few who suggested this, so I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's one of those songs check out too much on KZread because IMO she gets to the heart of these songs. If I may, I'd like to suggest another of my favorites by her, "When the Sun Comes Out" form her TV special "My Name is Barbra." It's short, but pure electricity and it always knocks me out when I listen to it.

All the songs were written by Bacharach and David. Watch Dionne Warwick’s earlier videos- she was Burt Bacharach’s muse and he wrote everything for her. “ Walk On By”- live on TV.

She is so awesome but I am use to the 5th dimension version with Flo La Rue.

Because Barbra was so unique the so-called gimmick of this album was Barbra versus Barbra. Only she was great enough to sing with herself and as you see its true.

She referred to herself as “an actress who sings!”

Did the Fifth Dimension do this first or Barbra? Have you seen Luther's version of "A House Is Not A Home" a tribute he did to Dionne at the NAACP Image Awards? a must see!
