She’s a once-in-a-millennium type of talent. It’s not just the quality, resonance, and clarity of that powerful voice. She’s sings emotion and makes you feel it. An all around star - actress, singer, director - there will never be another like her. One almost feels privileged to live in a time where we witness someone like Streisand.
In those days she always made you feel like her vocal power was both effortless and limitless. Really, a wonder of the world. We are lucky to witness it.
Her voice is perfection. And that last note...

Barbra Streisand is simply the best 💖
Barbra Streisand is above Celine Dion she's in a different League
We’re in the presence of greatness aren’t we?
As a fan of hers for 0ver 50 years, and a musician myself, there is no one who has the breath, control, tone, passion, and expression that she has. No one. Her 1973 TV special described her voice the best: Barbra Streisand... and other musical instruments.
I'm glad you have discovered Barbara - I have been a fan of Barbra for many, many years and she, to me, is a national treasure - no one comes close to her.
Barbra Streisand is "THE Voice". Period.

In terms of Global impact by a Diva she is the absolute Queen. (gosh from Broadway music, movies/films, and cd records) In terms of singing soft melodies/songs she is the undisputed overlord. In terms of vocal prowess and all the skill sets of being an artist/musician, songwriter, performer, etc..............The Lara Fabian Blue Print is another topic.

This is from, as you said, 1975, when Barbra's voice was, perhaps arguably, at it's most powerful, proof she is one of the greatest singers who ever lived. Completely effortless virtuosity. In spite of the fact that this was at a point in her career when her stage fright was at it's worst, btw---not that you can tell. Also, a point in her career when she was sick of singing standards and what she called "the old stuff"--pretty sure this aired while she was filming "A Star Is Born". So, a performance where she was scared to death, and bored with the material STILL blows us all away. Goddess. There is Aretha, there is Miss Patti, and there is Barbra---then there is the rest.
The absolute greatest singer of all!
You describe her voice perfectly Prat. She is a classical/broadway singer but has proven from time to time that she can sing Pop, Soul, R&B, Disco, etc. Also would love to see you react to her performance Cry Me A River live at Central Park 1967. Its one of her most iconic performances
watch the MGM concert from 1994 she still holds those notes.
Wow!!!! One true legend. A God given voice.
It's funny we have the same experience and background as far as Barbra Streisand. Growing up, I heard her name, but didn't really know her music, but knew her for her films. I like a few of her pop ballads, but I have a few friends who are vocalists who live for her vocals. After listening to her in performances like this, I now understand what they hear in her voice. She has a beautiful vibrato and a powerful belt. She's technically solid in her control and delivery. So, I think those who appreciate more formally trained voices and technique, appreciate her more.
She’s my favorite since I was a kid. She makes me feel everything she sings. I love her.
I love watching you react to her. I’ve come across older people who didn’t meet her when she was young and younger people who think she’s old news…and then they listen and really hear her and I feel like I need a dust pan to sweep their jaws up off of the floor.
One of the greatest singers ever!
Barbara's voice is C A P T I V A T I N G !!! ( compared to other singers).
I discoverd her in 1971 when I was 16 years old. The hit then in Puerto Rico was Stoney. And since then I've been HOOKED by her Art‼⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👑
Saaannng that Ms. Barbra Streisand!!!! Ms. Dionne Warwick and Ms. Barbra Streisand can interpret and deliver a damn song!!These legends are one of a kind. These singers today need to really watch the real deal and learn!!!
And yes, a thousand times yes, she's astonishing. Mesmerizing. Otherworldly. The whole enchilada. Your reactions: priceless! It warms my heart to see younger people catching on. Nice work, Pat.
Please do more Barbra songs.
Well, she is one of the best (best to me) singers of the last 100 years. Wonderful Barbra. Love her. Seen her twice in concert several years ago, she’s amazing live.

You should watch the TV Special : “My Name is Barbra”.........if you want to react to one song in particular watch her perform “When The Sun Comes Out” from the concert set at the last 1/3 of the TV special! It just proves again that she is the greatest female vocalist of ALL time.
She sings this song at the end of Funny Girl, and it is heart wrenching. Don’t Rain on My Parade from the same film is one where she really belts it out!
There is so much amazing Barbra Streisand you can react to. Please do more. :-)
Such a kick seeing this again. When this special first aired LIVE back in the 70's, there was a nationwide snowstorm which knocked out the power in countless places, and just as Streisand entered the stage and began humming the first few bars of The Way We Were the power went out. We were crushed! Of course, there were no VCR's and the special was never repeated, so we never saw any of this again until 25 yrs. later. This is what You Tube is all about. BTW, Babs and Co. removed this entire Funny Girl to Funny Lady Special over and over again (for years), but apparently decided to let us have it.
What a voice !
Stunning performance
❤ She's great in 'The Way We Were,' and 'What's Up Doc.' . R.I.P. Ryan. I think she's stunning and beautiful.
Awesome! She is a very unique TALENT; stunning voice.
I've seen many movies with my favorite Barbera Streisand. My first movie I saw was Funny Girl. I was twelve years old and fell in love with her. Then it was Hello Dolly and it continued.
Hey Pat, I hope I have your name correct....a recording of Barbra's which may not be ideal for your KZread channel because there is no video, but, that you might enjoy to just hear that pure sound of her voice that we all love so dearly is, Simple Man, from her album entitled Butterfly....this one is very different from most of her songs...it is an intimate display of how amazing her vocal instrument is.....thanks....

@@jons.105 Really? Was she wearing the headress and wielding a tomahawk when he came into her dressing room? That’d be appropriate for this premiere! I hadn’t heard that but remember reading that she did not want to do “Funny Lady”, but it was part of the original “Funny Girl”contract, i.e., if Funny Girl had X success, she was obligated to make a sequel. Well, we know X+ happened. When filming wrapped she sent him a gift of an antique mirror. Written on the mirror in lipstick was “paid in full”. I don’t recall if what I read was an interview where she told the story herself. (Must add that caveat lest she go all kzread.info/dash/bejne/mH-g2MmiltDac6Q.html on me! 🤭). Love this performance and your reaction.
Check out Streisand with Donna Summer - - they both sing their asses off and it's incredible. Great reaction. I enjoyed listening to your thoughts, nice work.
As Barbra is an actor and true artist, she is superior at storytelling through song. Her phrasing is impeccable. Early in her career she met and performed with her idol, Judy Garland, who taught her to sing every word like she meant it and that the music was there to serve the story. Barbra always takes great care to first understand what each word and line in the song means and then breathes life into it with the music. Unlike today’s pop stars, you can UNDERSTAND and FEEL every word.

She did not learn that from her friend Judy Garland. She was already an established recording sensation when she appeared on “ The JudyGarland Show”. She learned her singing technique way before she ever met Judy.

Barbra Streisand is a unicorn 🦄
Check out her performance of Bewitched from the judy garland show. The purity of her voice and technical prowess , and sheer beauty of her voice have never been equaled. A live performance too!
Along with her voice and acting her ability to do both with choreography is important to see. If you get to see any of her song clips from Hello Dolly, don’t pass it up. In fact the title song from Hello Dolly shares a brief duet between Barbara and Louis Armstrong that is a must see.
If you want to hear Barbra and Celine doing a duet together. You only have scratched the surface of her talent. My man was 1st sung by Fanny Brice ( vaudeville star back in early 1900’s) who Barbra played on Broadway 1964 then the film 1968.

I think the word you are looking for, regarding Streisand's voice, is "theatrical"! Celine's voice, too......is not operatic, it is theatrical....meaning it is felt, acted, can be heard without a mic at the back of the theatre, dramatic....(if you want "operatic" look for Diana Damrau singing "Queen of the Night" from Mozart's 'Magic Flute"! It astounds the senses!)
