Baptism of the Holy Spirit 2018 - Francis Chan

With Permission from Crazy Love Ministries (crazylove.org/sermons)
One of the most controversial subjects in the christian faith is the "baptism of the Holy Spirit." This subject has split churches, friends, and even ministries. Remember the prayer of Jesus "Father, would they be one as you and I are one." When we get to heaven it will be funny to see all the things we had wrong, but God loved us anyway! I asked God to baptize me in the Holy Spirit and He did, right in my room when i was praying after watching a youtube video about recieving the Holy Spirit. It changed my life. I recieved joy, peace and a hunger to pray. It brought me closer to God and to His word. And I felt as if I had rivers of living water in me.

James Sohol Yes, I spoke in tongues. I grew up in a Baptist church and was taught against them but saw in the Scriptures that they were a reality. Before I got Baptized with the Holy Spirit, I always prayed for God to protect me from anything false that was not of Him. And He protected me and gave me the genuine thing. Glory to Him. He is faithful.

I was filled with the Holy Ghost 2 nights ago August-20-2018 in my room at night just after praying and repenting and asking The Lord to fill me with the Holy Ghost so that I can live according to the Spirit and not the flesh. About 10 minutes after while laying in my bed I felt an extreme electric/buzzing above my head and I started speaking in tongues. It was such a beautiful and supernatural experience!

When the Holy Spirit came to the 120 people in the upper room, those folks went outside, more folks were indwelled with the Holy Spirit that accepted Jesus as their Savior. The Holy Spirit dwells in those who accept, and live Jesus as their Savior 🤗 Ask The Holy Spirit to seal your HOLY ARMOR IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS. ASK The Holy Spirit to guide your prayer, your day, your life. He is the precious seal given to The Bride, The Church, as a betrothal gift as is the Jewish tradition 🤗 Trust in Jesus. It's simple.

I have watched and skimmed different videos by Francis on the holy spirit. What I enjoy is his heart to search for truth. He doesn't take what he is taught his whole life but searches the scriptures to see if what we are taught is true. In case anyone is wondering who is reading this comment. I grew up Baptist (who I still believe are going to heaven also) but I became Pentecostal at age 19 and recieved the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other toungues. With that said my journey to understand and love God more has not ended. The more we search for truth the more we be blown away by the things we find in his word!

I have been a believer since I was 5. I didn't receive the Holy Spirit until 2 years ago at age 52. I wasn't looking and had turned away from God considering myself too far gone to save. He woke me from a dream and told me to follow Him. I started researching everything I could and couple months later was blessed with The Holy Spirit that started downloading information that I never learned in all my years as a student. I understood things better and just supernaturally knew other things. I got water baptized about a year after getting The Holy Spirit. I don't know if The Holy Spirit is in each of us and "wakes" in God's time or how it all works.....but it is the most beautiful thing I've ever experienced. And I know as believers, we are all given the opportunity to access The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. As God gives me more information through The Holy Spirit, I may be able to give more information about it.

Recieving the Holy Spirit happens as a result of the Holy Spirit baptism. This is " the anointing that abideth". In the O.T. the Holy Spirit came upon and filled the prophets but then departed for a time. Being " born of the Spirit" didn't occur until Acts ch.2 when the apostles recieved the Holy Spirit through the overflowing Spirit baptism. The yielding of the believers tongue to the Spirit causes the baptismal overflow accompanied by speaking in " tongues" . " Tongues" in the original Koine Greek , that the N.T. was originally written in, means " another langusge" and " a language" which is one spiritual language not native to those on earth.

John said he baptizes with water and someone was coming who will baptize with the Holy Spirit, of course it was Jesus. This is TRUE! I called out to God and said I did not know Jesus or what his role was but I needed help desperately. I received the Inward Spirit awakening that night. Since then I have had my eyes and ears opened and my heart changed. I pray often and in my words and read the Word. The Truth is in Him and the Temple is our bodies and the Church are His followers. Not in a building made by the hands of man, nor, of brick or stone.

I really appreciate his honesty in that he is uncertain about the full meaning of "baptism of the Holy Spirit". I feel that way a lot of times. I have accepted Jesus and do believe the Holy Spirit indwelled my life at that time. There have also been times when I felt the Holy Spirit strong in my life, but as an adult I have found it to be a bit confusing especially with a lot of different doctrines on the subject out their. Obviously the Holy Spirit is more than significant and we certainly need to be "filled with the Spirit" as the word of God does say that so I am open to Him. I want His power not for power's sake, but to be able to live in obedience to God and have the ability to worship and glorify Him.

Instead of asking God to give you something that He already wants to give you and He knows you need, rather, you GIVE to God what you have in your heart that you want to GIVE to Him: your love for Him, your verbal praises for what He has done for you, tell Him how much you TRUST Him, tell Him how beautiful He is, just keep GIVING everything you have in you to Him until you have nothing left to give, and when you are truly totally empty before Him, He will FILL you up with His Spirit until your cup OVERFLOWS and rivers of LIVING water flow through you in Jesus' mighty name! It's really about GIVING, not receiving. It's BETTER to give than it is to receive. GIVE God ALL of you and He will GIVE you ALL of Himself!!!!

Like salvation, baptism in the Spirit is a GIFT to be received from Jesus, the Baptizer. It takes humble faith in the Word and a hunger for MORE, for ALL that God has for us, to receive/experience the baptism. It took me a long time before I could speak in tongues, even as I sought/asked for the baptism of the Spirit; many years of reading about it, listening to teachers explain it. Finally, God in His providence, sent the mother of Pastor Bayless Conley of Cottonwood Church to explain the scripture to me. I felt a light bulb turn on inside me. I took a step of faith and embraced the promise, received it by faith, opened my mouth and, by faith, spoke in tongues as I ALLOWED the Spirit to "give me utterance." Thank You, Jesus, my Baptizer! Holy Spirit, fill Francis Chan to overflowing and let the heavenly language (tongues) flow out of him. In Jesus' Name! AMEN!

Julio Perez our brother Jeremy is right. Smoking and drinking is addiction. There is an evil spirit of addiction behind it. When you stop, you get attacked by the devil! It is time for you to fight the enemy with wapons that work= prayer! When you pray, say out loud en declare to the invisible world that you repent from your sin, that you belive in the blood of Christ. Say that you break every chain of the devil by the blood of Christ. Trust me even though you don’t know me. I have done a lot deliverences till know. This is a good beginning! Just pray for you Julio, for the Spirit to give you peace and rest while recovering. Don’t believe the lie that you have to work your way to Christ. God has imputed his righteousness on you, you are covered in the grace and favor of God. When he looks at you he doesn’t see your sin but instead, sees the righteousness of Christ in you. I found that I started to heal from addiction when I came to know that I am in good standing with the Father and that I didn’t have to be good enough to reach a standard of righteousness. Like Francis said, let the Holy Spirit flow like a river through you. Pray to the Holy Spirit, ask for him to move in the your life and believe and thank him in advance. God bless you brother.

After i learned about the doctrine of the baptism of the Holy Spirit i asked one brother in Christ what should i do. He told me to go to a congregation where they pray in tongues and ask the elders to lay hands on me and i will receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. So i went to another church and after the the sermon i asked the elders to lay hands on me so that i may received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and they laid hands on me and i got delivered from something and after some minutes(maybe like 15) i started praying in tongues. I am back to my church now and I thank the Lord for his mercy and grace and i suggest everybody who wants to get baptised into the Holy Spirit to do the same. (To receive the Holy Spirit and to be baptised in the Holy spirit is not the same and if somebody is not sure about that i can show it in the scriptures 🙂). God bless you and keep you safe🙏🏼.

Indeed, he could not deny the reality of it!!!!! He became a believer (Christian) and himself received the baptism (as far as I can remember. It's been many years since I read that book.)

Pastor Chan graduated from the Masters College, and had always taught that the gifts of the Spirit (the miraculous ones like Tongues, Prophecy, Healingm etc.) ended with the death of the last apostle. (Cessaionist) So he taught AGAINST them at his church, (Coirnerstone Simi Valley) and against anyone who disagreed. Just go to Cornerstone now, and then, and see what the vast majority believe. Now, of course, he is still confused, (by his own words here and other places) he is “not sure why he doesn’t have them, etc.) very emotional and sincere, but really is just a person who after YEARS of teaching against the Gifts of the Spireit, as a Pastor and Leader, ) now wants them! Well, as James clearly says, if you ask God for something, you must BELIEVE AND NOT DOUBT! Francis Chan, in his own WORD here is confirming that he doubts, or “is not sure”. So Biblically a person with such an uncertain confused mind, should “not expect to receive anything from God”. (Read James 1). It is difficult to DOUBT, and Recieve!! A Double minded man is unstable in all his ways. I pray for anyone who is asking God for anything to really FIRST consider whether you are sure that God will give it to you!!

Armando Carrillo speaking in tongues does not save you. Only believing Jesus came, died and rose for you does. The gift of the Holy Spirit is not just speaking in tongues, there are more in the Bible that the Apostle Paul talks about. Paul the apostle also says that not all will speak in tongues. The Holy Spirit was given to us to Council us and empower us through life’s journey. But speaking in tongues is not how we must be saved. Salivation is only through Jesus. The thief on the cross next to Jesus never spoke in tongues but Jesus told him that he will be with Him in Heaven. Personally speaking when I received Christ in my life I New I was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit but I did not receive the evidence of speaking in tongues until a latter time.

Tony Bertalan The evidence of receiving the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues, and we see this all through the Bible in the New Testament. Even upon de gentiles (us) so this is needed just like the baptism in water in the name of Jesus Christ. Read John 3:5 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. And Paul was referring to speaking in tongues and interpreting them, not all have that gift but speaking in tongues as the spirit give utterance for your own edification is necessary. Acts 2:39 (KJV) 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And finally about the thief on the cross he was a Jewish man he was not a gentile, let’s remember that Jesus came for the lost sheep of Israel first, salvation was as I understand different as today. Matthew 15:24 (KJV) 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Today everyone one must repent, everyone must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you have to seek the baptism of the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues, just like it happened to the primary church on the day of Pentecost🙏🏻

A C these are all great discussions! It is exciting to see how God Is bringing truth back to the body of Messiah. I just had a thought about the thief on the cross- salvation comes by believing that Yeshua is the son of God and the one who paid our price to free us from sin and Satan. When you believe that- our response is to obey- repent, get baptized, and then receive the Holy Spirit. We can not live a life in The Messiah without the Holy Spirits power-but the thief was dying- he was not going to be walking in the physical- he repented and Yeshua accepted him and paid the price with His life for the thief to be able to enter paradise.

A C The tongues they were speaking at Pentecost were other languages of men. Then they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because EACH ONE HEARD THEIR OWN LANGUAGE BEING SPOKEN. And what languages were SPOKEN? The LANGUAGE of the Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome,…theJews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs--we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our OWN TONGUES !" This was not the tongues of angels spoken by paul in 1 Cor. 13:1. 1 Cor. 12:30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in TONGUES? Do all interpret? Paul seems to suggest not all will speak in tongues.

Its not that we ought to say “LORD I want more of You”, God has already given us His fullness. What we lack is giving the LORD all of me (emphasis on me). This is key. Remember God is an “if” “then” LORD. “If” we do all what He wants of us to, “then” His promises are right there waiting for us. God has never held back, it’s me and you that hold back.

The first thing one should observe is that the baptism of the Holy Spirit was never given as a command to be administered by man, nor was it to be obeyed by man. The baptism of the Holy Spirit was a promise to be received by certain men chosen for a certain purpose. When Jesus spoke on the subject between His resurrection and His ascension, He appeared to the chosen apostles, speaking to them things concerning the kingdom of God (Acts 1:1-3). Among the things spoken to them were the following words: “ … wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” {He said,} “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now” (Acts 1:4-5 NAS). Overjoyed at this statement they asked, “ … Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6 NAS). To this question Jesus replied with the following promise, “ … It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth” (Acts 1:7-8 NAS). It is clear that while John could and did baptize in water it was Christ, and only Christ, who would baptize with the Holy Spirit. Another fundamental thing to be noticed here is that John did not mean to include all disciples, with reference to being baptized in the Holy Spirit; neither did he mean that all of the multitude, which heard him, would receive the baptism of fire. He simply made a prophetic declaration, regarding these matters, to the multitudes that heard him.

Pressed Down Shaken Together And Running Over was a band in a church where everyone spoke in tongues and interpreted, except for the new people who came in, but if people stayed, sooner or later, we all came around to it. This was good. If u question whether u have the Holy Spirit ask for it. In 2013 I told God I wanted to receive the Holy Spirit but I wasn't sure what it meant or looked like or felt like. So I went to the alter seeking the Holy Spirit and believing Jesus to give Him to me. So... I spoke in tongues not even really believing in it. I just wanted the Holy Spirit and that's what happened. I've read the Bible about this and it is clear that receiving the Holy Spirit is a separate event after confessing belief in Jesus His finished work of salvation. It's also clear that there is speaking tongues (known language) and speaking tongues (unknown language which, I believe, could be the evidence God gives for Holy Spirit baptism). So anyway I just have to say ASK Jesus to fill u with the Holy Spirit and be willing to empty yourself and yeild yourself to whatever He wants to do with u in honoring your request.

1 Corinthians 14:22-26 22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers. 23 So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and inquirers or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind? 24 But if an unbeliever or an inquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all, 25 as the secrets of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!” Good Order in Worship 26 What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two-or at the most three-should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God.

Francis, I know you are seeking for the truth. The Lord loves your heart. Don’t stop searching. The gifts of the spirit is available to all his children. Holy Spirit is tangible... you will know for certain if you’ve received Holy Spirit. I also don’t know if there’s a process for laying of hands to receive Holy Spirit only for those who have not felt this tangible presence. I felt it in 2010 and not felt it since but I know. Maybe someone does needs to lay hands on you, but in regarding the actually spiritual gifts, I believe you can tap in to this without actually feeling a tangible presence of Holy Spirit. It’s happened to my brothers... they went out with me to go lay hands and pray for people out in the streets. We witnessed many healing miracles but they personally at that time did not experience the real presence. One of my brothers felt in during a church camp revival. He felt an electric shock jolting all over his body. My brother experienced it in a dream, woke up from it, and continued to feel it in his waking moments.

Mac314 I have a lot to say about this but yes for the most part you are right. Just follow the example of the gospels when Jesus sent people 2x2. They shared the gospel to those who they were Called by the lead of the Holy Spirit. And they walked with power and regularly casted demons out of people. What you’re saying about how my experience is not gospel, well that is your opinion. At the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit fell on the followers of Christ “When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:1-4‬ What was going on when there was a sound of Heaven like a rushing wind and divided tongues like fire, and what does it feel like to be “filled” with the Holy Spirit? You still need to provide evidence that my experience is not biblical. Because from what you’re saying, I would say you’re speaking from ignorance and false lens. The whole purpose to be filled with the Holy Spirit and his power is to advance the gospels. I’ve been a believer for over 20 years and the first 16 years I was ineffective in reaching people, after I relied on the Holy Spirit and activated my faith in miracles, I began to see many people come to Christ. If you say this is about “knowing Jesus” then you should be for it and not against it. I get it that there are false teachers out there teaching prosperity, but I am not one of those people. I’m just a normal dude with no special privileges or position in church. Most of the ministering I do is out on the streets.

@@Romans_116 yes if it causes people to want to follow Jesus, and as Paul said his only goal was to know Jesus more, and their relationship to God is not all about miracles, yes great.. One note, when the 77 or 70 or whatever number came back from doing miracles, and casting out demons, they were all excited, high fiving and such. Jesus said dont rejoice because of what you were doing, but rather rejoice that your names are written in the lambs book of life. Also note, that the times the holy Spirit descends and there are tongues and such is once initially for the Jews, once for the gentiles, once for the Samaritans, once for Johns disciples, and oncefor Paul. There is a reason for this, one to show to everyone that salvation is for everyone, Paul because everyone. was scared to death of him. I pretty sure those instances are right, I heard a sermon on it once But yes if Christ is truly preached, great!

I hope by this time, Francis Chan has received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? This message is dated 2018. A man SO in love with Jesus, so full of Jesus! I believe Francis is full of the Holy Spirit! He just has to be willing to receive by faith "speaking in tongues," and not try to analyze it. Get so lost in worship that you don't even think of words to say, but you open your mouth and, like a toddler expressing his feelings/thoughts but is unable to articulate, praise God in words NOT coming from your understanding. Before you know it, the Spirit is overflowing from inside of you, and you are praying/worshiping in a language you do not understand. When you listen to pastors who speak in tongues and they tell you of a new level of Power they experience in their ministry, you will WANT that experience too. Bayless Conley, Joseph Prince, Joyce Meyer, Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, Andrew Wommack, John Osteen (Joel Osteen's father). Yes, they have been maligned a lot by the camp that don't believe in speaking in tongues. But they can't deny the experience! O Lord Jesus! I pray for all your pastors and teachers - all believers - to receive the baptism in the Spirit with the manifestation of speaking in tongues! It's for ALL Lovers of Jesus!

Zach Waddill - brother... Francis makes amazing logical points in that video. I just watched it. He never implies that God’s grace is only given to those who have works. He actually said that God’s grace supernaturally changes us once we have been saved. He is saying that if you’ve been truly saved, the grace of God will compel you to act like Jesus. 1 John 2:6 says, “Whoever claims he loves Jesus must walk in the same way that He walked.” Francis is speaking of people who claim they love Jesus but look NOTHING like him. I don’t believe we can pray a prayer of salvation one time to be saved and then live however we want and then go to heaven. I believe that if we are truly saved in a salvation prayer, the Holy Spirit comes into us and He changes us. We will hate sin and love Him forever.

Yes, every true believer has the Holy Spirit indwelling him. Every believer has the anointing of the Spirit. But the Baptism of the Spirit is on top of being indwelt by the Spirit, being sealed by Him as a child of God. John 7:48 - 38 "He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water." Ask, seek the Fullness, the Overflow of the Spirit, and RECEIVE it by faith, and you have it! As we worship the Lord, the overflow of the Spirit manifests in "tongues" ! A language that only God understands! God will give the Baptism to "whosoever will" ask and receive. 1 Corinthians 14:2 For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding]. Speaking in tongues as a prayer language is powerful! In 1 Corinthians 14 Paul said: So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding.... I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.

There are three scriptures in the Bible which shows practically what happened to people when they were baptized and filled in the Holy Spirit first time.. Look these passages: Acts 2:1 And in the fulfilling of the day of Pentecost, they were all with one mind in the same place. 2 And suddenly a sound came out of the heaven, as being borne along by a violent wind! And it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And tongues as of fire appeared to them, being distributed, and it sat on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled of the Holy Spirit, and began to SPEAK IN OTHER LANGUAGES, as the Spirit gave ability to them to speak. 5 And Jews were living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation of those under the heaven. 6 But this sound occurring, the multitude came together and were confounded, because they each heard them speaking in his own dialect. 7 And all were amazed and marveled, saying to one another, Behold, are not all these, those speaking, Galileans? 8 And how do we hear each in our own dialect in which we were born, 9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those living in Mesopotamia, both Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 both Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the regions of Libya over against Cyrene, and the temporarily residing Romans, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabians; in our own languages we hear them speaking the great deeds of God? 12 And all were amazed and puzzled, saying to one another, What would this wish to be? 13 But ridiculing, others said, They are full of sweet wine. 14 But standing up with the Eleven, Peter lifted up his voice and spoke out to them, Men, Jews, and all those living in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words: 15 For these are not drunk, as you imagine, for it is the third hour of the day. 16 But this is that which has been spoken by the prophet Joel, 17 "And it shall be" in the last days, God says, "I will pour from My Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy;" "and your young men shall see visions," "and your old men shall dream dreams;" 18 "and also I will pour out My Spirit on My slaves and slave women in those days," and they shall prophesy. Acts 10: 43 To this One all the Prophets witness, so that through His name everyone believing into Him will receive remission of sins. 44 As Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those hearing the Word. 45 And the faithful of the circumcision were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the nations also. 46 For they heard them SPEAKING IN LANGUAGESand magnifying God. Then Peter answered, 47 Can anyone forbid the water that these not be baptized, who the Holy Spirit received, even as we also? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to remain some days. Acts 19: 1 And it happened, in the time Apollos was in Corinth, Paul was passing through the higher parts to come to Ephesus. And finding some disciples, 2 he said to them, Believing, did you receive the Holy Spirit? And they said to him, We did not even hear whether the Holy Spirit is. 3 And he said to them, Then to what were you baptized? And they said, To the baptism of John. 4 And Paul said, John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe into the One coming after him, that is, into the Christ, Jesus. 5 And hearing, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And Paul laying hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they SPOKE IN LANGUAGES and prophesied. Keep in mind that there is only 3 time mentioned in the Bible, what happened to people when they were baptized in the Holy Spirit. IN ALL THOSE THREE CASES. ALL SPOKE WITH TONGUES OR LANGUAGES. Then what about 1. Cor If you study word Acts 2:38 and Acts 10:45 how Holy Spirit was poured out on the gentiles or nations. It speaks about the gift of Holy Spirit which relates to languages or tongues, that gift is Dorea. When it speaks about 1.Cor 12: 30 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak languages? Do all interpret? The Gifts of tonques in Corinthians. It is speaking about charisma. So Bible makes it distinction.. This 30 verse is not contradictory for the truth, that every christian or believer can speak with other languages or tongues. Not every believer don't be able to have gift of tongues which is mentioned in the letter of Corinthians but every believer can receive languages or tongues when they receive gift of Holy Spirit or being baptized in the spirit Acts 2:38. That was the promise for every believer that they would receive gift of the holy spirit and Acts 10:43-48 shows the answer what is the gift of the holy spirit.'' Mark 16: 17 These [d]signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; Also the Gospel of Mark states that this signs will follow every believer who believes. Like we receive water baptism by immersion through faith and also we receive baptism in the Holy Spirit or gift of the Holy Spirit through faith, when we speak with other languages.. There is no exception in Mark 16:17 between the believers. Between gift of Holy Spirit concerning the languages when they will be baptized in the Holy Spirit what happened example in Pentecost. Read Acts 1:5 Jesus spoke that event as baptism in the Holy Spirit. Also Bible mentions about this verse 1.Cor 14: 2 For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one [a]understands, but [b]in his spirit he speaks mysteries. So there are languages which any human being cannot understand if Holy Spirit doesn't give wisdom for that. Then if no human cannot understand those languages. Then those languages comes from above like heavenlies from the Holy Spirit. Also there is languages, which can be understood on face of the earth like it happened in Acts 2:1- So in the Bible there is at least two kind of different distinctions concerning to speaking with tonques or languages in the Bible..

I feel I need to add this - I have read almost every book about this experience and spoken to many many leaders and scholars over the years including the late theologian Rodman Williams Who for years did not believe in an experimental baptism of the Spirit until he got zapped one day with tongues. He was previously a Presbyterian. When the puzzle of scripture is put together - it becomes obvious that there are two receptions of the Spirit - one in regeneration - John 3 and John 20 and one in empowerment - Acts 2. No one can say Francis Chan is not born of the Spirit - and he is making the most of the measure he possesses - whilst others who have the empowerment measure are sometimes lazy and do not fulfil what they have been given. Just because Francis Chan does not speak in tongues does not mean he hasn’t been empowered either - maybe he hasn’t released the tongues part yet - so there are 3 possibilities - God knows.

Jeff Engstrom I look at it like the colors of the rainbow ROYGBIV. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, & violet. These are all contained within Light, but as it refracts... you can see the individual colors. Isaiah 11:1-2 NKJV [1] There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. [2] The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. Jesus was that Light (the Branch/Rod). The Spirit of the Lord is the manifest presence of God. The next 6 Spirits are self descriptive. Hope that maybe ties into what you were saying about the different functions... different colors. 🤙🏽

@@patrickambler749 your response there made me ask myself if fire can burn in the colors of the rainbow - and it's really cool to research how that's possible! "Teachers light this colorful fire by igniting metal salts soaked in methanol." - We are the salt of the Earth, ignited by Holy Spirit and it creates a rainbow 😂 It's funny to ponder, but I'm trying to keep it close to what the Word says, and not something else 👌

The reason why the Holy Spirit would not come until Christ returned to heaven was because that while Christ was here you NEVER see the disciples do miracles when Christ was with them. Only Christ would be highlighted while He was here not the disciples.

John 4:16-17 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, (and shall be in you). At conversion the Holy Spirit is with us ( with you). The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a separate work of Gods Grace (and shall be in you). Jesus is the one who Baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit and Fire. Speaking in tongues is the evidence that we have been baptized with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit makes permanent resident in our hearts so long as we follow Jesus Christ and deny ourselves and take up His Cross (all the benefits of which Jesus paid the price with His shed blood for us to have) on a daily bases. The book of Acts is a wonderful book to read about how to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. The only requirement is to be saved. All it takes is faith in Jesus ask and you’ll receive and you’ll be endowed with power from on High to live a Holy life to the Glory of the Father on high!!!

I appreciate Francis Chan. I can say on behalf of our church, the Holy Spirit has been misconstrued in our church culture greatly. God is not an author of confusion. If we take the Bible literally, we can see a clear teaching on what the Holy Spirit does in the life of a believer. In short, the disciples (who would soon be apostles) were different in the Gospels as compared to Acts. When the Holy Spirit came, they were changed entirely. So will we be changed when He truly comes upon us as well. He will cleanse us and make us whole! The evidence of this is not in the gifts, but in the Giver abiding in us in power. (See Acts 15:8-9) Samuel Logan Brengle wrote a book called, "When the Holy Ghost Is Come". I would highly suggest that book if you are thirsty.

WE MUST NEVER TRY TO BRING THE WORD OF GOD DOWN TO FIT OUR EXPERIENCES BUT TAKE OUR EXPERIENCES UP TO THE WORD OF GOD. THIS VERSE WAS 20 YEARS AFTER PENTECOST AND THE QUESTION THE APOSTLE TO THE GENTILES ASK WAS ... Acts 19:2 He said unto them, HAVE YE RECEIVED THE HOLY GHOST SINCE YE BELIEVED? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. PLEASE DO NOT LET ANYONE CHEAT YOU OUT OF EVERYTHING GOD HAS FOR YOU. Acts 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Acts 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: Acts 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Acts 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Acts 8:18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. Acts 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Romans 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

Nice sermon but didn't answer the question. The question is Born of the spirit vs baptism of the spirit? I know that baptism of the spirit was help Christian's fulfill Gods work like speaking in tongues was used the spread the Gospel of Jesus to other countries that did speak Hebrew This was one of the gifts. Unfortunately I have not received not one and it burdens my heart. I know only that God saved me and helped me to seek Jesus through prayer and fasting and to finally find rest on Jesus. And now all my joy and peace comes from trusting in Jesus only for my salvation and not on my work. This is the only truth I can give is that Jesus did it all on the cross. And if what he did on the cross was not enough then ill be going to hell. But I know that what He did on the cross was more the enough to save 5 BILLON worlds.

Many believers have felt the Holy Spirit only off and on because they have been filled with the Holy Spirit but never recieved the permanent indwelling. That can only come as a result of the Holy Spirit baptism. The old Testament prophets had the Holy Spirit come upon them and fill them but then depart for awhile. This is because having the indwelling presence wasn't available to man until the day of Pentecost in Acts ch.2. We recieve the permanent indwelling as a result of an overflowing filling which the Holy Spirit baptism is. The evidence of that overflowing baptism occurring is speaking in " tongues" in every case. This is the " unknown tongue" Paul speaks of in 1Cor.14:2.

Not sure but I'd surprised if you didn't speak in tongues immediately after being baptized, that's usually the first sign, also as long as you have the holy spirit once you're saved you can always preach God's word with power, you don't have to be baptized in the spirit to preach with authority, its the same as God answering your prayers whether you pray in tongues or with your understanding. I would say though that tongues enhances your prayer life as the Holy Spirit is praying the perfect prayer for you about past situations, present, and future events that you don't even know about yet, it could be for protection against sickness, accidents etc, they are the prayers that God will 100% answer before his Spirit knows exactly what you need.

John 3:5". New International Version (NIV) (Jesus declaration of the way enter the kingdom of God) No one can enter the Kingdom of God unless he is baptized with water and holy Spirit. Jesus himself declares that if we are not baptized with water and holy spirit we can not enter the kingdom of God. Acts 2:38 New International Version (NIV) (Baptism of Holy Spirit) 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:4 New International Version (NIV) (Evidence of receiving Holy Spirit) 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them. Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version (NIV) (Fruites of the Holy Spirit). 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. My brothers and sisters have you baptized and receive Holy Spirit or not? Remember that no one knows when He/she will die and when will Christ Jesus return for his second coming. We Revival Centers of Papua New Guinea baptized with water and Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is recieved as the result of the Holy Spirit baptism. The O.T. prophets had the Holy Spirit come upon them and fill them but then depart for a time. The Holy Spirit baptism gives the believer " The anointing that abideth" ( John 2:27 ). The Holy Spirit infilling must be prayed for after repentance and water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. Then when the Lord answers your prayer and fills you then you must surrender your tongue " the body's most unruly member that no man can tame" until the Holy Spirit takes control of it (" tames" it ) and gives you the ability to speak in the spiritual language that the English translation calls " tongues" Now you have recieved the permanent indwelling of the Holy Soirit and have been born of the Spirit.

@@dimitartodorov4826 Our English word " tongues", in the original Greek that the N T. was written in, is singular not plural and means " another language" or " a language", so in Acts ch.2 it actually reads when the believers recieved the Holy Spirit, " ..a they began to speak in another language as the Spirit gave them the utterance" or "..and the began to speak in a language as the Spirit gave them utterance". The reason that three times in the chapter the men in the crowd asked each other how they were hearing what the apostles said in their own languages is because this is the Words' way of showing us that the miracle for the men wasn't that the apostles were speaking in their native languages but they were hearing what the aposes were saying in one spiritual language in their native languages .
