Banks Monster Ram Air Intake Installation

The all new Monster-Ram intake elbow for the 6.7L Cummins in your Ram lives up to its name. It is an absolute MONSTER. The Monster-Ram improves airflow from the intercooler. It flows 72.7 lbs/min with Banks’ New Coil Heater and High-Flow Billet Intake Plate compared to stock's 38.6 lbs/min MAF. That is a huge 88.3% improvement over stock you can feel! The proprietary design raises boost without increasing back-pressure at the turbine. The result is improved engine response, efficiency, and headroom for daily driving and heavy hauling. The secret to the Monster-Ram's performance is not just airflow, but the quality and literal weight of the air it flows. Your Cummins engine is limited in the volume of air it can flow through its 6 cylinders even at max RPM. By increasing the mass of the air delivered to each cylinder, your stock-tuned engine will breathe more efficiently with less stress and set the stage for huge power gains when stacked with a tune.

Small issue here. When working on cars you want to remove the "Negative terminal" first not the positive. .If your vehicle has a negative ground, prevents arcing. And remember ...Positive goes on FIRST ,comes off LAST, Great job btw, awesome intake!

NIce job. I had the Banks upgrade done to my 2017. I wimped out and had my mechanic do it for me: about $700.00 labor for the install. I was afeared my back wouldn't hold up: broke it years ago and got some fusion going on.I did mine for the grid heater stud/nut issue that will trash the $30,000.00 engine.

The grid heater blowing up my engine is why I wanted to get rid of it. I went with the Banks because it did that, bigger air horn and the integrated glow plug. I only found one other option for heating up the air and it was a space with a threaded hole for a glow plug.

@@chiefyoung I had that happen to my 2017...after some great dissatisfaction on my part (bitching to the dealership) they "only" charged me $2800 but said it would take 2 days to get the engine, 2 days to install it....42 days later I get my truck back. The rental car cost me $4000. so total was $6800. So far I had the turbo go out twice, the turbo actuator once and a multitude of other engine issues....Do you think I got a lemon?...lol Oh they quoted me $32,000 for a new (remanufactured) engine. When I was flipping through the paper work, when picking up my truck, I saw an email from the Ram representative to the dealer on the price..$17,500 for the engine I took a picture because they wouldn't let me have the paperwork...Then they wanted me to delete the picture...I did but recovered it as soon as I left.....I will never buy anything from that dealership again ( I have bought 2 new Rams in the past).....Won't name the dealership but it was somewhere between Roseville and Grass Valley. Soooo long story short...Once the warranty is up on this engine I will be putting in the Banks.....You can bank on that!

Looks cool, but at a pretty high cost and a lot of work. If you think you're going to actually feel or see a performance difference without other modifications, you're sadly mistaken. That is, unless you're subject to the placebo effect. LOL. On the plus side, it does eliminate the possibility of that grid bolt falling into your intake, but there are much less expensive ways to accomplish that. I'll give Gale credit for one thing, he's a helluva salesman. ;-)

My reason for this install was solely to get rid of the grid heater but I still wanted a way to heat the incoming air for cold season starts. The Banks kit was the only kit I could find with that option.

I think the year you installed on is no longer CARB certified. So, technically not legal anymore. The install will eventually cause a P2609 code which Banks is troubleshooting. California pulled the certification.
