Indeed. Safety is an illusion. Your job isn't safe... your community isn't safe... your nation isn't safe (despite what all the rah-rah patriotic cheerleaders want you to believe). Nothing is safe. You could be on an errand tomorrow that you've done hundreds of times and end up the victim of someone else's carelessness. So, to reiterate an often disturbing truth: NOTHING is safe. Maybe if more of us grappled with this psychologically discomforting fact, more of us would make better life choices than simply going along with the crowd.

My grandfather, who was an adult during the depression, told me 60+ years ago never, ever trust bankers, politicians or law enforcement ~ period. He was spot on.

People do not understand the system in which they live. She is right when she said "all your money belongs to us". The money/note you have are not yours, the money as we call it is Federal Reserve Note and it belongs to the Fed, and you only use it for trade. When something belongs to you, you can do whatever you want with it, right?! Let's say a chair. You can paint the chair, you can set it on fire, break it, cut it, etc... no one will come to you and tell you it's illegal. You can't do what you want with money, money is protected by law, federal law. You cannot destroy money without being punished by the law. It says on the note that this is legal tender for all debts, public and private. This note we use for trades. So she's right. If you have a safe in the bank, one of the listed items says that you cannot keep money in it. If the money is yours, then you should have the right to keep the money where you want, Etc…. It is crazy!!!

Don't confuse what's 'lawful' with what's true. If you own money, that money is yours. If the law allows a bank to keep it, that's a lawful action, but it's not true that the money isn't yours. What's true is that laws were passed allowing people who are not you, to take from you what is rightfully yours. Law, in principle, should be a codification of truth. Sadly, this isn't always, or even often, the case.

Yellen clearly used the word STEALING a Dishonorable Crime.

the problem with supporting the notion of stealing funds from any group, is that one day YOU will also fall into a newly defined group - and those same unethical policies will be used against YOU.

Our money, if it's in the bank, does not belong to us. The same with property; you buy a house and continue paying property tax even if you ended up paying and there is no mortgage. If you don't pay tax, they will take your property away, despite the deed and the fact that you purchased this place. Anything that we purchase or earn actually belong to them. They just give us an access to those things and a permission to use them. Time to wake up!

FDIC only covers to $250k. You are suggesting that the $17T is made up of lots of max $250K. Doesn’t sound likely to me.

I don't trust the FDIC insurance or the banking institutions, but trust gold.

During a state of national emergency (which the president may declare without needing congressional approval), civil courts are suspended, as is the constitution. For a period of 6-months, congress cannot interfere with whatever the president may decide to due during this declared state of national emergency. Essentially,, a US President may become an overnight dictator with the stroke of a pen, and there isn't anything that anyone can do about it. So, when you imagine that if the government wrongs you during a financial crisis, that you're going to be able to sue them... you have no idea how the system works. You won't be able to sue them. Civil courts suspended... constitution suspended... you'll do as you're told, or you'll go to jail, or you'll get shot on sight for protesting too much. I'm not saying this is good, but it is how things are. Sadly.

We moved our accounts into 5 banks. Hopefully if there is a problem we won’t lose everything. I will never go back into the market, we lost half of our worth. Learned a valuable lesson. The older you get safety is imperative.😮

Insurance up to $250,000 is only as good as the insurance company. If FDIC can't pay out $250,000 for however many people that need it, it's worthless. Put your money in gold and silver and sleep good at night.

FDIC "coverage" has been so degraded that they cannot hope to cover even the 250K cash stated limit they advertise.

Dangerous Precedent!

They passed a law that when money is placed in a bank, it is understood you have entrusted the bank to invest as they see fit. Your savings have become financial instruments and are subject the inherent risks of investing. Something like that. FDIC will cover your account if there is some money left after covering the loses of the institution.

Remember, the main banks are full of derivatives but many of the credit unions don't have them. There are some potential risks with them especially if there is a full blown SHTF situation. It has the potential to create a domino effect.

Once a bank run commences, the FDIC will have no ability to pay its claims on even covered deposits. The FDIC insurance fund has 125 billion in it which amounts to less than 2 percent of the deposits it insures.
